We consider the 3D quantum many-body dynamics describing a dilute Bose gas with strong confinement in one direction. We study the corresponding Bogoliubov-Born-Green-Kirkwood-Yvon (BBGKY) hierarchy, which contains a diverging coefficient as the strength of the confining potential tends to a. We find that this diverging coefficient is counterbalanced by the limiting structure of the density matrices and we establish the convergence of the BBGKY hierarchy. Moreover, we prove that the limit is fully described by a 2D cubic nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLS) and we obtain the exact 3D to 2D coupling constant.

The effects of synthetic androgen 17 alpha-methyltestosterone (MT) on endocrine impairment were examined in crucian carp. Immature 7-month old mono-female Pengze crucian carp (Pcc) F2 offspring were exposed to 50 and 100 mu g/L of MT (week 2, 4, and 8). Gonadosomatic index, hepatosomatic index and intestine weight altered considerably and oocyte development was repressed. In the treatment groups, ovarian 11-ketotestosterone decreased, whereas 17 beta-estradiol and testosterone increased, and ovarian aromatase activities increased at week 4. However, in the brain tissue, those values, significantly decreased. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis demonstrated changes in steroid receptor genes and upregulation of steroidogenic genes (Pcc-3bhsd, Pcc-11bhsd2 Pcc-cyp11 alpha 1), while the other three steroidogenic genes (Pcc-cyp17 alpha 1, Pcc-cyp19a1a and Pcc-star) decreased from week 4 to week 8. Ovarian, hepatic Pcc-vtg B and vitellogenin concentration increased in both 50 and 100 a of MT exposure groups. This study adds further information regarding the effects of androgens on the development of previtellogenic oocytes, which suggests that MT could directly target estrogen signaling pathway, or indirectly affect steroidogenesis and vitellogenesis. The use of bamboo charcoal (BC) was investigated as a filler in bamboo-plastic composites (BPCs) to achieve improved water resistance, physical-mechanical properties, and reduced hydrophilicity. The influence of the BC content and size on the water absorption, contact angle, density, and mechanical properties of bamboo flour/low-density polyethylene (LDPE) composites was tested. Scanning electron microscopy was used to analyse fractured and flat composite surfaces. The results indicated that the BC increased water resistance, achieving optimal results at 8% content. The BC particles that ranged in size from 60 to 100 mesh were more water-resistant than other sized BC. The water contact angle increased with an increase in the BC content or a decrease in the particle size. These results indicated that BC reduced the composite hydrophilicity and that the smaller BC particles improved this effect. The BC strongly connected with the LDPE composites, and the BC contents below 12% improved the flexural properties and increased the density of the BPCs. Also, the impact strength of the BPCs decreased dramatically with a decrease in the BC particle size. These results demonstrated that the integration of BC with BPCs resulted in strengthened water resistance and physical-mechanical properties and reduced hydrophilicity.
