Preparation of a novel dual structure graded cemented carbides induced by bidirectional diffusion

Based on the thermodynamic calculations, a novel dual graded WC-Co-Ti(C, N)-ZrC-HfC cemented carbides was designed and prepared by introducing the combination of spinodal decomposition and denitrification process. The dual graded structures of the cemented carbides have a smooth fcc-rich surface and toughness fcc-free interlayer, which can improve the coating adhesion and inhibit the cracks propagation. Microstructure characterizations and composition distributions elucidated the principle of multi-factors diffusion migration and the formation mechanism of dual structure graded layers.

Fe-Mn-Cu-Ce/Al2O3 as an efficient catalyst for catalytic ozonation of bio-treated coking wastewater: Characteristics, efficiency, and mechanism

It is important to develop a catalyst that has high catalytic activity and can improve the degradation efficiency of refractory organic pollutants in the catalytic ozonation process. In this study, Fe-Mn-Cu-Ce/Al2O3 was synthesised via impregnation calcination for catalytic ozonation of bio-treated coking wastewater. The physical and chemical characteristics of the catalysts were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), X-ray photoelec-tron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller nitrogen adsorption-desorption methods. The effects of catalyst dosage, pH, and reflux ratio on the degradation efficiency of wastewater were examined in laboratory-scale experiments. The chem-ical oxygen demand (COD) removal rate of bio-treated coking wastewater was estimated to be 52.76 % under optimal conditions. The experiments on the catalytic mechanism demonstrated that the surface hydroxyl formed by the Lewis acid sites on the surface of the catalyst can react with ozone as the active site forming the active oxygen (center dot OH, .O2-, and 1O2), thereby efficiently degrading the organic pollutants in coking wastewater. Furthermore, a pilot-scale experiment on the catalytic ozonation of bio-treated coking wastewater was carried out using an Fe-Mn-Cu-Ce/Al2O3 catalyst, while the effects of the initial pollutant concentration, ozone concentration, and gas flow on the COD removal rate were studied on a pilot scale. It was found that the COD removal rate of the wastewater was ti 60 % under optimal parameters. After the treatment, the wastewater steadily reached the coking wastewater discharge standard (COD < 80 mg/L), while the operating cost of catalytic ozonation reached ti 0.032$/m3, thereby paving the way toward economic engineering applications. In large-scale centralised pig farming, object detection algorithms can accurately track and monitor each pig. However, a significant proportion of current detection methods are based on visible images, and the colour differences between different pig breeds limit the applicability of the models. Furthermore, complex background interference, low illumination conditions, or high illumination intensity noise in visible scenes can likewise lead to reduced accuracy during detection. Therefore, we propose a cross-domain encoder based on the self-attention and design the IVDETR model, which integrates features from infrared and visible light images for pig object detection. In order to facilitate the training and evaluation of the model, we constructed a comprehensive, standardised infrared-visible light dataset for the first time. The experimental outcomes demonstrated that the detection accuracy was increased from 0.939 to 0.998 in a real pig breeding environment.

In the field of intelligent manufacturing, the realization of efficient and accurate automated surface defect detection is particularly critical for enhancing product quality, especially in the leather industry, which holds a significant position in global trade. Traditional defect detection methods encounter challenges in handling complex scenes and identifying minute defects. However, the advent of deep learning technologies has provided a new pathway to address these issues. This paper is dedicated to innovative research on the precise localization and detailed classification of leather surface defects through the enhancement of deep learning models, aiming to overcome the limitations of existing technologies and improve the accuracy and efficiency of detection. By extending the YOLOv5s model, this study has developed the CMR-YOLO algorithm. This algorithm integrates the Channel Attention mechanism (CA), an improved Multi-Dimensional Precision Intersection over Union (MPDIoU), and the Cross Stage Partial Residual feature enhancement module (C3R). These enhancements not only improve the classification accuracy but also bolster the model's stability and robustness in complex scenes. Through the comprehensive application of these techniques, the CMR-YOLO algorithm demonstrates improved performance in categorizing different types of leather defects, particularly effective in handling diverse defect characteristics and accurately classifying various defects. Compared to the traditional YOLOv5s, the CMR-YOLO algorithm also exhibits improved accuracy in defect classification, with the mAP50 increasing from 62.5% to 79.5%, effectively enhancing the overall performance of leather defect detection. These research outcomes not only achieve technological breakthroughs but also provide significant technical support for quality control and intelligent manufacturing in the leather goods industry.

Efficient advanced treatment of coking wastewater using O3/H2O2/Fe-shavings process

Catalytic oxidation is widely used in the treatment of refractory wastewater. However, catalytic oxidation has some problems such as high cost and limited production of radicals. To improve these, in this study, a new process of O-3/H2O2/Fe-shavings which coupled catalytic ozonation and Fenton-like oxidation with Fe-shaving wastes reused, was used in the treatment of coking wastewater secondary biochemical effluent (CWSBE). The effects of the environmental conditions on the degradation of CWSBE were studied and the response surface method was used to optimise the parameters. The performances in organic pollutant removal from CWSBE were systematically analysed by a couple of methods such as gas chromatography mass spectrometry and threedimensional fluorescence. The results showed that macromolecular organics were degraded into small molecules pollutants after treatment by the O-3/H2O2/Fe-shavings process. At an ozone concentration of 27.5 mg/L, with the hydrogen peroxide concentration being 10.7 mmol/L, the reaction time 60 min, the initial pH value 3.6, and the pump speed 150 rpm, the COD removal degradation efficiency was 77.5%, and the effluent COD met relevant wastewater discharge standards in China (GB 16171-2012). The mechanism research showed *** plays an important role in the degradation of organic pollutants.

Inspired by the features of both transition metal oxide and natural clinoptilolite (flaky structure with suitable pore diameter and open skeleton structure), we adopted a robust strategy by immobilization of nickel ferrite nanoparticles (NiFe2O4) on the clinoptilolite surface via typical citric acid combustion method. The hybrid catalyst exhibited enhanced peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation efficiency and bisphenol A (BPA) degradation performance. Calculated by effective equivalent of NiFe2O4, it is found that the reaction rate constant (k) of NiFe2O4/clinoptilolite/PMS system (0.1859 min(-1)) was 11.9 times higher than that of bare NiFe2O4/PMS system (0.0156 min(-1)), which demonstrated that catalyst would be conjugated to PMS or contaminant efficiently and renders the rapid degradation and mineralization in the presence of clinoptilolite. After comprehensive characterization analysis and DFT simulations, natural mineral carrier effect (i.e. decreased crystalline size, increased oxygen vacancy content, etc.), abundant surface-bonded and structural hydroxyl groups as well as effective bonding with iron or nickel ions charged for the potential activation mechanism of PMS by NiFe2O4/clinoptilolite composite. And it is indicated that not only center dot OH and SO4 center dot, but also O-1(2) was involved into series reactions. Overall, this study put forward a green and promising technology for high-toxic wastewater treatment.

heavy Metal Distribution and Microbial Diversity of the Surrounding Soil and Tailings of Two Cu Mines in China

Mining activities can cause heavy metal pollution which affects soil microbial diversity. Current understanding on the impact of Cu mines especially that of bioavailable heavy metals on microbial communities is still limited. This study investigated heavy metal distribution and microbial diversity of the surrounding soil and tailings of two Cu mines from Tibet (JM) and Zhejiang (JD), China. Cu, Pb, Zn, and Cr concentrations in the soil around JM were 107.33 +/- 75.48, 29.21 +/- 19.66, 73.89 +/- 28.79, and 17.88 +/- 4.91 mg center dot kg(-1), respectively, and those of JD were 40.59 +/- 21.86, 27.00 +/- 19.40, 95.45 +/- 54.36, and 30.87 +/- 11.55 mg center dot kg(-1), respectively. For each mine, the sites closer to the mining area displayed higher PINemerow values and acid extractable contents of Cu (Cu-_AE), Zn (Zn-_AE), and Pb (Pb-_AE). The tailings samples showed lower microbial diversity and higher abundances of heavy metal-resistant organisms including the ones from the phyla Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes and the genera Bacteroides, Lactobacillus, and Staphylococcus than the surrounding soil samples. Canonical corresponding analysis (CCA) revealed that water content, altitude, electrical conductivity (EC), total concentration of Zn (Zn-_total), Cu-_AE, Zn-_AE, and Pb-_AE, and pH value were effective environmental factors shaping the structure of all the investigated communities. Acid extractable contents of Pb and Zn rather than their total concentrations were significantly correlated to JM surrounding soil microbial structure. Microbial structure differentiations of the surrounding soil of JM and JD were largely attributed to stochastic processes, suggested by the beta nearest taxon index (beta NTI).

Comparison of macro and micro-pollutants abatement from biotreated landfill leachate by single ozonation, O3/H2O2, and catalytic ozonation processes

Micropollutants (MPs) in landfill leachate have attracted increasing attention because they pose a potential threat to the aquatic environment and ecosystems once discharged into nearby aquifers without proper treat-ment. Although ozone-based oxidative techniques perform well for the removal of MPs in low-strength water streams, their role in leachate containing high dissolved organic matter (DOM) concentration requires further exploration. Moreover, it is unclear the mechanism of different ozone-based processes in advanced treatment for biotreated landfill leachate. This study compared the single ozonation and two ozone-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs, heterogeneous catalytic ozonation and O3/H2O2 process) for polishing biotreated leachate. The mechanism of different ozone-based processes during leachate treatment was explored, which facilitates selecting of the appropriate process based on leachate quality and target treatment requirements. The removal efficiency and energy requirements of the macro and micro-pollutants were evaluated. The results revealed that the role of catalytic ozonation is mainly to enhance the direct ozone oxidation, whereas the O3/H2O2 process is to promote the indirect oxidation. The strengthening effect was most visible in the early stage (specific transferred ozone dose (STOD) < 2 gO3/gDOC) for catalytic ozonation, whereas it was more pronounced in the later stage for the O3/H2O2 process. The removal of UV-quenching substances correlated well with the elimination of MPs (R2 > 0.95), which provides a surrogate-based predictive model for the removal of MPs from high-strength leachate. Catalytic ozonation consumed the least amount of energy when the desired chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal was <= 35 %, otherwise, the O3/H2O2 process was the most energy-efficient. In any process, MPs with O3 or center dot OH reactivity could achieve more than 90 % elimination when the COD removal exceeded 30 %.

Enhanced denitrification of dispersed swine wastewater using Ca (OH)2-pretreated rice straw as a solid carbon source

In a pilot-scale packed bed reactor, the denitrification performance and microbial community structure of the dispersed swine wastewater treatment using calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)(2)) pretreated rice straw as a carbon source were investigated. In a Ca(OH)(2)-pretreated rice straw supported denitrification system (Ca(OH)(2)-RS), the removal efficiency of NO3- N was 96.39% at an influent NO3- N load of 0.04 kg/(m(3).d). Meanwhile, there was no obvious accumulation of NO2- N or chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the effluent of Ca(OH)(2)-RS. The contents of soluble microbial byproduct-like substances and tryptophan-like substances in the effluent of Ca(OH)(2)-RS were reduced by 46.2% and 43.4%, respectively, compared with the influent. Overall, the Ca(OH)(2)-pretreated rice straw system had a strong resistance to fluctuations in water quality conditions, such as influent NO3- N and COD concentrations. According to the microbial assay results, the Ca(OH)(2) pretreatment enriched more denitrifying bacteria. Among them, Proteobacteria (42.33%) and Bacteroidetes (35.28%) were the dominant bacteria. Moreover, the main denitrifying functional bacteria, generanorank_f_Saprospiraceae (13.32%), norank_f_Porphyromonadaceae (4.22%), and Flavobacterium (3.25%), were enriched in Ca(OH)(2)-RS. This suggested that using Ca (OH)(2)-pretreated rice straw as a carbon source was a stable and efficient technology to enhance the denitrification performance of dispersed swine wastewater.

Nowadays, monitoring animals manually on a large scale is challenging, while external devices can provide more prosperous and accurate information. Therefore, there are already applications incorporating wearable sensors to monitor individual pigs. With continued breakthroughs in computer vision, low-cost visible light cameras can help monitor pigs. CNN-based object detection methods have been applied to individual pig detection, but most rely on hand-designed components and require prior knowledge. Based on previous researchers' progress, we propose using DETR, an end-to-end object detection method, to detect individual pigs. Also, to adapt to our natural pig farm environment, we trained the model with transfer learning to achieve an AP of 0.995 on our collected dataset.
