Valence-State-Engineered Electrochemiluminescence from Au Nanoclusters

To determine the intrinsic effects of body elements on the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of metal nanoclusters (NCs), herein, a valence-state engineering strategy is developed to adjust the NCs' ECL with bovine serum albumin (BSA)-stabilized AuNCs as a model, in which engineering the valence state of the Au body element, i.e., Au(0) and Au(I), is performed via successively reducing the precursor AuCl4- to Au(I) and Au(0) with BSA. The obtained BSA-AuNCs/N2H4 system leads to three anodic ECL processes at 0.37 (ECL-1), 0.85 (ECL-2), and 1.45 V (ECL-3). ECL-1 is generated from the BSA-Au(0) section of BSA-AuNCs in a surface-defect-involved route and is much stronger and red-shifted compared to ECL-2 and ECL-3, which are generated from the BSA-Au(I) section of BSA-AuNCs in the band-gap-engineered route. Each of the anodic ECL processes can be selectively generated and/or suppressed via adjusting the Au(I)/Au(0) ratio of BSA-AuNCs, tunable ECL generation route, and triggering potential, and the emission intensity and waveband of metal NCs are conveniently achieved in body-element-involved valence-state engineering.

智能交通的中重要一点就是对行人的检测跟踪用以规避行人实现自动驾驶。在神经网络运用的目标检测之前,常见的行人检测方法有梯度直方图特征(Histogram of oriented gradient,HOG)与支持向量机(Support vector machine,SVM)相结合的方法,但是此方法的弊端较为突出,在检测准确率远远达不到目前主流的几种深度学习算法检测,其应用场景受到很大的限制。而目前在深度学习中,行人检测应用比较广泛的模型有Faster R-CNN、YOLOv3等,而论文将采用改进Cascada R-CNN模型,其比Faster R-CNN具有更好的抗干扰能力,在昏暗、光线不均匀等条件下具有较好的行人检测效果,同时使其能过更好的识别小样本行人,实验在INRIA数据集中完成训练与并在自制的测试集检测,取得了不错的效果。

Alkaline-earth-metal-ion blending enhanced mechanoluminescence of lanthanide ions in MZnOS hosts for stress sensing and anticounterfeiting

Mechanoluminescent (ML) materials with highly-efficient and multicolored emission are strongly anticipated in the field of stress sensing and information encryption. Here, a combined strategy of alkaline-earth-metal-ion blending in hosts and lanthanide-ion doping is developed to design ML materials. The strategy can be conveniently performed via doping binary (Ca, Sr)ZnOS hosts with lanthanide ions at optimized Ca2+/Sr2+ ratios. Four different lanthanide ions, including Er3+, Dy3+, Sm3+, and Yb3+, can be separately doped into the binary (Ca, Sr)ZnOS host, which partially occupy its Ca2+ sites and work as luminescent centers to give off stronger ML compared to when the same lanthanide-ion-dopant is doped into the unary-host of either CaZnOS or SrZnOS. Not only each lanthanide-ion-dopant in the binary host can separately give off efficient ML with a much lowered-pressure down to 2 N, but also ML colors can be easily tuned via changing the lanthanide dopant, such as green ML from Ca0.66Sr0.30ZnOS:Er-0.04, orange ML from Ca0.66Sr0.30ZnOS:Dy-0.04, red ML from Ca0.66Sr0.30ZnOS:Sm-0.04, and near-infrared ML from Ca0.66Sr0.30ZnOS:Yb-0.04. The lanthanide-ion-dopant-involved multicolor ML from binary (Ca, Sr)ZnOS hosts can be exploited for both stress sensing and anti-counterfeiting.

Pioneering Insights into the Reaction Kinetics of Metastable Intermolecular Composites Based on Metal Fluorides: Virtually non-existent condensed Phase Combustion Products and Ultra-Efficient Reactivity

As a typical representative of Metastable intermolecular composites (MICs), the energy release of nano-thermites relying on aluminum-oxygen reaction is limited by the formation of high boiling point condensed phase products. Low pressure output performance constitutes another pivotal factor influencing their efficacy. In this work, metal fluorides BiF3 at different scales were incorporated into nano-thermites as oxidants, thereby facilitating the tunability of the released energy. The boiling points of all resultant reaction products fall below the combustion temperature, theoretically abolishing the agglomeration of condensed-phase products, thus preventing the entrapment of active metals. Additionally, it facilitates the smooth conduction of heat flux, thereby averting losses in biphasic flow dynamics. The n-Al/n-BiF3 system exhibits a significant amplification in reactive kinetic properties in stark contrast to the n-Al/n-Bi2O3 system. The reduction in ignition threshold is ascribed to a novel reaction kinetics mechanism within the n-Al/BiF3 system. The highly electronegative fluorine within BiF3 corrodes the Al2O3 shell, inducing a "pre-ignition" reaction. The application of Density Functional Theory (DFT) evaluations has further corroborated the n-Al/n-BiF3 system's preeminence in electron transfer capacity between the oxidizing agent and fuel, thereby furnishing an molecular-electronic basis for its potent reactive kinetic properties.

In this paper, we prove the quantitative version of the Alexandrov theorem for capillary hypersurfaces in the half-space, which generalizes Julin-Niinikoski’s result [18] to the capillary case. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are crucial mediators in various physiological and pathological processes, facilitating intercellular communication and offering potential as diagnostic disease markers. However, existing EVs separation methods have limitations that hinder their clinical application. In this study, we present a novel approach using bifunctional silica microspheres (SiO2-PTB-PS) for the specific, nondestructive isolation of EVs from complex biological media. The isolated EVs were subsequently used for direct cancer detection in clinical samples. The SiO2-PTB-PS microspheres, functionalized with a phosphatidylserine (PS) recognition peptide (PSpep), specifically bound to PS on the EVs surface. Additionally, an anti-adhesion coating on the silica microspheres minimized protein contamination, enhancing purity. This affinity-based recognition and antifouling strategy ensured high-purity EVs separation. Furthermore, we developed a detection system combining SiO2-PTB-PS microspheres with surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanoprobes to identify protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) and epithelial cell adhesion (EpCAM) on the EVs membrane, achieving 80% precision in distinguishing cancer patients from healthy donors. The SiO2-PTB-PS microsphere system shows significant promise as a biotechnology tool, advancing the clinical application of EVs-based diagnostics.

Optimization of image reconstruction method for dual-particle time-encode imager through adaptive response correction

Time-encoded imagers (TEI) are important class of instruments to search for potential radioactive sources to prevent illicit transportation and trafficking of nuclear materials and other radioactive sources. The energy of the radiation cannot be known in advance due to the type and shielding of source is unknown in practice. However, the response function of the time-encoded imagers is related to the energy of neutrons or gamma-rays. An improved image reconstruction method based on MLEM was proposed to correct for the energy induced response difference. In this method, the count vector versus time was first smoothed. Then, the preset response function was adaptively corrected according to the measured counts. Finally, the smoothed count vector and corrected response were used in MLEM to reconstruct the source distribution. A one-dimensional dual-particle time-encode imager was developed and used to verify the improved method through imaging an Am -Be neutron source. The improvement of this method was demonstrated by the image reconstruction results. For gamma-ray and neutron images, the angular resolution improved by 17.2% and 7.0%;the contrast-to-noise ratio improved by 58.7% and 14.9%;the signal-to-noise ratio improved by 36.3% and 11.7%, respectively.(c) 2023 Korean Nuclear Society, Published by Elsevier Korea LLC. Surface Defect-Involved and Single-Color Electrochemiluminescence of Gold Nanoclusters for Immunoassay

Single-color electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of nanoparticles is normally achieved in a bandgap engineered route via passivating the nanoparticle surface. Herein, when linear mercaptoalkanoic acids are employed as the thiol-capping agent of unary Au nanoclusters (NCs), a single-stabilizer-capped strategy is proposed to achieve surface defect-involved and single-color ECL from the AuNCs with hydrazine (N2H4) as the coreactant. The carbon skeleton of the linear mercaptoalkanoic acids exhibits important effects on the ECL of the AuNCs, and efficient oxidative-reductive ECL is achieved with 8-mercaptooctanoic acid (MOA), 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA), and 12-mercaptododecanoic acid (MDA) capped AuNCs, respectively. The ECL of these AuNCs not only exhibits similar ECL intensity-potential profiles with the same maximum emission potential of similar to 1.20 V (vs Ag/AgCl), but also demonstrates almost identical spectral ECL profiles of the same maximum emission wavelength around 713 nm as well as the same fwhm of 64 nm. The ECL of AuNCs/N2H4 is obviously red-shifted to the photoluminescence of AuNCs, which not only provides unambiguous evidence that bandgap-engineered ECL of these AuNCs is quenched but also manifests that the capping agent of linear mercaptoalkanoic acid is promising for the achievement of surface defect-involved and single-color ECL from AuNCs. The MUA capped AuNCs can be utilized as an ECL tag for a sensitive and selective immunoassay, which exhibits a broad linear range from 0.5 mU/mL to 1 U/mL with a low limit of detection of 0.1 mU/mL (S/N = 3) with CA125 as the model analyte. This work provides a promising alternative to the traditional surface-passivating strategy for the achievement of single-color ECL from nanoparticle luminophores.

Eight new cytochalasans rosellichalasins A-H ( 1 - 8 ), as well as two new shunt metabolites rosellinins A ( 9 ) and B ( 10 ) before intramolecular Diels-Alder cycloaddition reaction in cytochalasan biosynthesis, along with nine known cytochalsans ( 11 - 19 ) were isolated from the endophytic fungus Rosellinia sp. Glinf021, which was derived from the medicinal plant Glycyrrhiza inflata . Their structures were characterized by extensive analysis of 1D and 2D NMR as well as HRESIMS spectra and quantum chemical ECD calculations. The cytotoxic activities of these compounds were evaluated against four human cancer cell lines including HCT116, MDA-MB-231, BGC823, and PANC-1 with IC 50 values ranging from 0.5 to 58.2 mu M.
