We examined the temporal factors of postconditioning, assessed whether gradual reperfusion reduces infarcts, and compared postconditioning's protection with that of both rapid and delayed preconditioning. Focal ischemia was generated by permanent occlusion of the left distal middle cerebral artery (dMCA) combined with 30 min of occlusion of both common carotid arteries (CCA) in rats. Postconditioning was performed by repetitive brief release and occlusion of CCA after 30 min of CCA occlusion. Gradual reperfusion was generated by controlled release of the bilateral CCA. We confirmed that postconditioning disrupted the early reperfusion but improved cerebral blood flow (CBF) thereafter. Postconditioning with three cycles, but not with 10 cycles, of 30 sec CCA release and 10 sec CCA occlusion (30s/10s) reduced infarction measured at 2 days after stroke. In addition, postconditioning with 10 cycles, but not with three cycles, of 10s/10s reduced infarction but it lost protection when initiated at 3 min after reperfusion. In addition, gradual reperfusion also reduced infarction. Moreover, both rapid and delayed preconditioning conducted 60 min and 3 days before stroke reduced infarct sizes. However, no additional protection was detected when postconditioning was combined with either rapid or delayed preconditioning. In conclusion, gradual reperfusion reduced infarction;postconditioning's protection depended on the number of cycles and duration of each cycle of reperfusion and occlusion and the onset time of postconditioning;postconditioning's protection was comparable to that of rapid preconditioning but not as robust as that of delayed preconditioning. A new approach is proposed to enhance supercontinuum (SC) spectrum generation in A dispersion-decreasing optical fibre with a new dispersion profile. The chromatic dispersion D(λ, z) is a concave function of wavelengths and has no zero-dispersion wavelengths over the whole or part of the fibre as D(λ, z) is positive. A flatter and much broader spectrum can be produced based on the scheme. The general criteria parameters are obtained for characterizing SC shapes in the optical fibres.

Although the protective mechanisms of delayed ischemic preconditioning have received extensive studies, few have addressed the mechanisms associated with rapid ischemic preconditioning. We investigated whether ischemic tolerance induced by rapid preconditioning is regulated by the Akt survival signaling pathway. Stroke was generated by permanent occlusion of the left distal middle cerebral artery plus 30 min or 1 h occlusion of the bilateral common carotid artery (CCA) in male rats. Rapid preconditioning performed 1 h before stroke onset reduced infarct size by 69% in rats with 30 min CCA occlusion, but by only 19% with 1 h occlusion. After control ischemia with 30 min CCA occlusion, Western blot showed that P-Akt was transiently increased while Akt kinase assay showed that Akt activity was decreased. Although preconditioning did not change P-Akt levels at 1 and 5 h compared with control ischemia, it attenuated reduction in Akt activity at 5 h in the penumbra. However, preconditioning did not change the levels of P-PDK1, P-PTEN, and P-GSK3 beta in the Akt pathway, all of which were decreased after stroke. At last, the PI3K kinase inhibitor, LY294002, completely reversed the protection from ischemic preconditioning. In conclusion, Akt contributes to the protection of rapid preconditioning against stroke.

The fruits of Citrus are popular all over the world. It was reported that the extracts of fruits possessed antiallergic activities. In China, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (CRP) is a production of peels. In this study, flavonoids were extracted by solvent method, and enriched by polyamide. Then antiallergic activity of flavonoids was investigated in vivo and in vitro. Under optimal parameters, most abundant compounds of extracts were hesperidin and narirutin, their contents were 232.0325 and 98.7946 mg/g, respectively. In vitro, RBL-2H3 cell line was used to investigate the antiallergic activity. As the results shown, -hexosaminidase release of antigen-induced degranulation was decreased by flavonoids. An ovalbumin-induced allergic asthmatic model was used to test the activity of the flavonoids in vivo. After treated with different concentrations of flavonoids, the levels of IgE, IL-4, and IL-13 decreased significantly. These findings provide evidence that flavonoids extracted from CRP have potential using in antiallergic therapeutic area. Practical applicationsOranges are popular all over the world as fruit, besides a little percent of peels are applied as traditional medicine in China, the others are thrown away as rubbish. To explore the new way to extend the application of peels, we extracted the total flavonoids from Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (CRP) and evaluated the antiallergic activity of it. Fortunately, the total flavonoids have antiallergic activity in vitro and vivo. The findings provide evidence that extracts from CRP have potential using in antiallergic therapeutic area. It can also afford a theoretical basis for the new application of orange peel.

Hydroxyl radicals are believed as the most reactive species in the Fenton-like reactions and perform well at the beginning stage of the reaction due to very short lifetime. A reaction system with strongly prolonged hydroxyl radical lifetime is rarely reported. Adding Cu ions, an unreactive catalyst for hydrogen peroxide activation, the Fe/Cu/CDBQ/H2O2 system efficiently prolonged hydroxyl radical lifetime with two orders. This study found a strong, prolonged hydroxyl radical generation in a Fenton-like system using iron, copper ions and 2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone restricted in cyclodextrin (CDBQ). Meanwhile, rapid degradation and substantial mineralization of organics was achieved in this system. Further, the Cu ions could promote the efficiency of other Fenton-like system.

Instantaneous undeformed chip thickness (IUCT) plays a critical role in optimizing and monitoring of five-axis milling processes, as it determines machining precision and tool life by affecting cutting forces. Analytical and numerical methods have been widely used for IUCT calculation. However, these methods have some deficiencies, such as solving the unsolvable transcendental equations, modeling the complex cutting edge trajectory, and poor adaptability for five-axis milling. Therefore, a Boolean method which consists of subtraction and intersection operations is developed. First, the blank for the current cutting edge is obtained by the Boolean subtraction operation between the workpiece and the swept volume that produced by the front cutting edges. Second, the Boolean intersection operation is executed between the blank and the auxiliary edge entity (AEE) that corresponding to the tool edge. Then, the IUCT of each cutting edge or each cutting point can be deduced based on the Boolean result with the known blank geometry, tool geometry, tool path, and machining parameters. The method is verified by milling force experiments. It is an efficient, accurate, and general method because it does not need to establish complex mathematical or numerical models. The calculated IUCT will promote the optimizing and monitoring of five-axis milling processes.

China's electricity market is now still in the mode of "Unified market and two-tier operation" including provincial and inter-provincial market. The inter-provincial market is divided into the medium and long-term market and spot market. This study takes the inter provincial spot market as the research object, and proposes a unified optimization clearing algorithm for inter provincial spot market considering path constraints. The proposed method is able to handle AC-DC hybrid electricity network, and sort and determine the trading pairs using power flow tracing algorithm. The power market software PLEXOS and practical market data are used to simulate the proposed model, and the results show the accuracy and effectiveness.

In 2013,*** proposed a matching cost computation model(or function), This matching cost model combined three kinds of constraints, the cost function is formulated by combining three individual costs: a cost computed on an extended census transformation of the images;the absolute difference cost, taking into account information from colour channels;and a cost based on the principal image derivatives. Experiments show that the cost function is excellent performance in similar estimates. Apply it to the stereo matching of ancient buildings, it is favorable for practical. However, this experiment, in color mutated region, leaded to blurred border. Therefore, our proposed method added color space structural information, which based on HVS Weber's law, to the cost function. we use the differential excitation of WLD reflects the structure of color space. This robust cost measures can reduce percent of bad pixels in mutated color region. The proposed method use color image, which is used after epipolar line rectification.
