Finite element analysis of corn kernel damage: a viscoelastic model approach for impact-induced damage prediction

BACKGROUNDIn the present study, we address the quality degradation of corn during post-harvest processing by developing a viscoelastic composite model to predict kernel damage during post-harvest processing. The model, based on high-resolution scanning and inverse modeling techniques, provides an accurate representation of the complex internal components of corn kernels, which allows for the analysis of their stress response and damage susceptibility trends under different impact *** results show that the viscoelastic model has a relative error of 2.4% compared to the drop test data, thus demonstrating that the viscoelastic model has a very high accuracy in predicting impact damage and is able to accurately localize the flour-like endosperm as the main region of impact damage. The model showed a high correlation (0.99) between predicted and experimental damage rates by response surface *** damage during processing is reduced by reducing the proportion of flour-like endosperm in maize kernels. A new method for reducing damage during food handling and processing operations is proposed, providing an important reference for improving kernel durability and contributing to the development of gentler processing techniques to improve the quality of maize products. Fabrication of CoNPs-embedded porous carbon composites based on morphochemical imprinting strategy for detection of H2O2 released from living cells

Rational construction of biosensor to determine reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated from living cells is one of the great challenges in physiological and pathological fields. Herein, for the first time, a novel Co nanoparticles (CoNPs) embedded walnut-like N-doped porous carbon microsphere (Co@NCS) can be synthesized using dual imprinting strategy by pyrolysis and acid leaching. The distinct morphology and chemical characteristic of melamine cyanurate (MC) aggregates can be imprinted in the carbon source derived from glucose during the pyrolysis process. According to our research, with synergistic effect of CoHPs and NCS, the Co@NCS shows an excellent electrochemical activity toward the reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The Co@NCS modified electrode exhibits a wider linear detection response with the range from 0.5 mu M to 7500 mu M and a low detection limit of 88 nM (S/N = 3). Moreover, with desirable selectivity, decent reproducibility and satisfied anti-interference performance, the fabricated biosensor can be applied to determine H2O2 in human serum samples and that released from living cell, indicating the potential applications in the fields of pathological and physiological sensing. Nowadays, monitoring animals manually on a large scale is challenging, while external devices can provide more prosperous and accurate information. Therefore, there are already applications incorporating wearable sensors to monitor individual pigs. With continued breakthroughs in computer vision, low-cost visible light cameras can help monitor pigs. CNN-based object detection methods have been applied to individual pig detection, but most rely on hand-designed components and require prior knowledge. Based on previous researchers' progress, we propose using DETR, an end-To-end object detection method, to detect individual pigs. Also, to adapt to our natural pig farm environment, we trained the model with transfer learning to achieve an AP of 0.995 on our collected dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

Natural gas hydrates have garnered widespread attention as a high-quality energy resource. Recent offshore extraction experiences suggest that depressurization is a technically mature and economically viable option. However, challenges such as reservoir temperature reduction, reservoir subsidence, secondary hydrate formation, and insufficient dynamics in later-stage hydrate decomposition still require improvements to the depressurization method. This study, based on field data from Japan's first offshore natural gas hydrate extraction, utilizes a self-developed numerical simulator to model and validate reservoirs at the field scale. Long-term production rate stability, total production, secondary hydrate formation, reservoir subsidence, evolution of permeability, and temperature-pressure paths were analyzed and optimized for the three mainstream depressurization modes: steady depressurization, stepwise depressurization, and cyclic depressurization. The results indicate that, under the condition of equal total work done throughout the entire depressurization process, steady depressurization with an effectively lower depressurization rate is the optimal choice. Cyclic depressurization, due to the formation of secondary hydrates reducing the permeability of certain reservoir zones, adversely affects gas production efficiency during the long-term stable production phase. This study enhances insights into the coupled evolution of multiple physical fields during the depressurization of offshore natural gas hydrates, providing valuable guidance for future on-site extraction plan designs.

Fuzzy Multilevel Image Thresholding Based on Improved Coyote Optimization Algorithm

Due to the computational complexity of multilevel image thresholding, Swarm Intelligence Optimization Algorithm (SIOA) has been widely applied to improve the calculation efficiency. Therefore, more and more attention has been paid to exploring the application of the latest SIOA in multilevel segmentation. This article takes Otsu and fuzzy entropy as the objective functions, using Coyote Optimization Algorithm (COA) for multilevel thresholds optimization selection, through fuzzy median aggregation of local neighborhood information and then forms the Fuzzy Coyote Optimization Algorithm (FCOA), so that the thresholding image segmentation can be achieved in the end. To prevent the COA algorithm from falling into the local optimum, this article follows the differential evolution strategy adopted by the standard COA, using the number of iterations to construct the differential scaling factor to form the Improved Coyote Optimization Algorithm (ICOA). The experimental results show that fuzzy Kapur entropy and fuzzy median value aggregation-based ICOA(FICOA) achieves better image segmentation quality. Compared with Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO), Fuzzy Modified Quick Artificial Bee Colony and Aggregation Algorithm (FMQABCA) and Fuzzy Modified Discrete Grey Wolf Optimizer and Aggregation Algorithm (FMDGWOA), FCOA and FICOA have certain advantages in visual effects of image segmentation and PSNR, FSIM evaluation indices. Particularly compared with GWO (also a wolf evolutionary algorithm), FICOA shows significant advantages.

Identification of circadian rhythm-related gene classification patterns and immune infiltration analysis in heart failure based on machine learning

Background: Circadian rhythms play a key role in the failing heart, but the exact molecular mechanisms linking changes in the expression of circadian rhythm-related genes to heart failure (HF) remain unclear. Methods: By intersecting differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between normal and HF samples in the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database with circadian rhythm-related genes (CRGs), differentially expressed circadian rhythm-related genes (DE-CRGs) were obtained. Machine learning algorithms were used to screen for feature genes, and diagnostic models were constructed based on these feature genes. Subsequently, consensus clustering algorithms and nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) algorithms were used for clustering analysis of HF samples. On this basis, immune infiltration analysis was used to score the immune infiltration status between HF and normal samples as well as among different subclusters. Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) evaluated the biological functional differences among subclusters. Results: 13 CRGs showed differential expression between HF patients and normal samples. Nine feature genes were obtained through cross-referencing results from four distinct machine learning algorithms. Multivariate LASSO regression and external dataset validation were performed to select five key genes with diagnostic value, including NAMPT, SERPINA3, MAPK10, NPPA, and SLC2A1. Moreover, consensus clustering analysis could divide HF patients into two distinct clusters, which exhibited different biological functions and immune characteristics. Additionally, two subgroups were distinguished using the NMF algorithm based on circadian rhythm associated differentially expressed genes. Studies on immune infiltration showed marked variances in levels of immune infiltration between these subgroups. Subgroup A had higher immune scores and more widespread immune infiltration. Surface-Defect-Induced and Synergetic-Effect-Enhanced NIR-II Electrochemiluminescence of Au-Ag Bimetallic Nanoclusters and Its Spectral Sensing

Aqueous electrochemiluminescence (ECL) in the second near-infrared biowindow (NIR-II, 900-1700 nm) was anticipated for ECL evolution and spectral multiplexing. Herein, aqueous and monochromatic ECL with a single emission peak beyond 900 nm was achieved by employing methionine (Met)-capped Au-Ag bimetallic nanoclusters (BNCs) as luminophores and triethanolamine (TEOA) as a coreactant. The Met-capped Au-Ag BNCs with surface-defect-induced PL around 756 nm were water-soluble and synthesized via doping Met-capped Au NCs with Ag in a doping-in-growth way. By extensively exploiting the red-shifting nature of surface-defect-induced ECL to PL and the synergetic-effect-enhanced ECL of BNCs, physically surface-confined Au-Ag BNCs exhibited efficient NIR-II ECL around 906 nm in aqueous medium. A spectrum-based NIR-II ECL immunoassay around 915 nm was also achieved by immobilizing the Au-Ag BNCs onto an electrode surface via forming a sandwich immunocomplex, which could selectively determine CA125 from 5 x 10(-4) to 1 U/mL with a detection limit of 5 x 10(-5) U/mL (S/N = 3). The combined strategy of surface-defect-induced ECL and synergetic-effect-enhanced ECL would enable promising biorelated application of NIR-II ECL.

This project is based on discussing how to develop the rural cooperative economy in northern Anhui. Through literature collection, field investigation and research, data analysis and sorting, combined with the advantages of rural areas in northern Anhui, it analyzes the current bottleneck of development and the factors restricting the development of rural cooperative economy in northern Anhui. Based on the basic situation of the rural cooperative economic development, the country and the Anhui province introduced support of rural cooperative economic development policy with the north of rural cooperative economic development actual situation, on the basis of a series of north of rural cooperative economy development quality countermeasures and Suggestions, innovative to develop two village mutual learning evaluation mechanism, promote land adoption agriculture, construction live help farmers base countermeasures, such as policy support, resources as a whole, innovation consciousness gives the specific path of rural cooperative economic development.

Titanium alloy coiled tubing (CT) has great superiority while operating in deep wells with severe conditions, but it faces serious challenges during roll forming like high springback, edge cracking and surface wearing. In order to utilize the high precision and high efficiency production of titanium alloy CT, it is urgently necessary to develop a detailed process design. Based on the W-forming strategy and the cubic curve of the strip edge projection, the flower pattern and roll design for the 21-pass roll forming process were completed. Different tube dimensions and roll positionings were researched regarding the aspects of contact state, stress-strain distribution and geometry ovality using numerical simulation. The thickness/diameter ratio of the tube that can be formed should be within an effective range: exceeding the range leads to edge cracking, and an insufficient ratio leads to high springback. Roll positioning significantly affects the contact state and stress distribution, but leads to no major differences in the tube geometry. Finally, the trial production of the TA4 titanium CT with a size of Phi 50.8 x 4 mm was completed successfully and was consistent with the simulation results.
