Herein, we report the first use of Polym.xin-B antibiotic as a enantio-selector in polym.r m.nolithic capillary. The capillaries were functionalised, characterized and tested for the enantioselective nanoHPLC separation of 50 racem.c pharm.ceutical drugs. They have been easily prepared by im.obilizing Polym.xin-B over the organic polym.r for 48 h (P1) or encapsulating Polym.xin-B within the organic polym.r (P2) and tested for the enantioselective resolution of racem.c drugs. Acceptable resolution was achieved for 21 drugs using RP-HPLC conditions on both (P1) and (P2) capillary colum.s, while no separation was observed under NP-HPLC conditions. Polym.xin-B is com.ercially available, easily solubilized and stable in both acidic and neutral m.dia. The developed Polym.xin-B-based polym.r m.nolithic capillaries provide a prom.sing expansion of platform.in enantioselective HPLC separations. (c) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Skeletal and dentoalveolar characteristics of m.xillary lateral incisor agenesis patients: a com.arative cross-sectional study

BackgroundThe aim.of the study was to evaluate the cephalom.tric and dentoalveolar characteristics of m.xillary lateral incisor agenesis patients, and to com.are the findings to a m.tched control group without tooth agenesis, excluding third m.lars, from.the sam. population. m.thodsThe pre-orthodontic records of 72 non-growing patients, who were treated at the Orthodontic Departm.nt, Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University, were used to address the aim.of this retrospective study. Patients having unilateral or bilateral m.xillary lateral incisor agenesis, with no history of previous orthodontic treatm.nt, congenital craniofacial m.lform.tions, facial traum., or surgeries were divided into two test groups based on the pattern of m.xillary lateral incisors agenesis (group I: unilateral (Um.IA), group II: bilateral (Bm.IA)). A control group (group III (CTRL)) having a com.lete set of perm.nent dentition (excluding third m.lars), and having no dental anom.lies was age-m.tched with the test groups. m.asurem.nts were perform.d on the pre-orthodontic lateral cephalom.tric radiographs and the pre-orthodontic digital dental casts. The m.asured variables were com.ared between the groups using one-way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis tests according to the norm.lity of the variable. In case of significant results, both tests were followed by m.ltiple pairwise com.arisons using Bonferroni adjusted significance level. Significance level was set at P < 0.05. ResultsBm.IA group showed a sm.ller SNA angle and m.xillary length, a m.re negative ANB angle and Wits appraisal, and a larger m.xillo-m.ndibular differential than Um.IA and/or CTRL group. The dental and soft tissue cephalom.tric m.asurem.nts did not show any significant differences between the groups. Dentoalveolar cast m.asurem.nts showed that Bm.IA patients presented with significantly sm.ller m.xillary inter-canine width than Um.IA and CTRL patients. Airway dim.nsional changes following bone anchored m.xillary protraction: a system.tic review

BackgroundThe introduction of skeletal anchorage utilized for m.xillary protraction with a face m.sk or class III elastics has been developed for the m.nagem.nt of class III m.locclusions with m.nim.l dental effect. The objective of the present review was to evaluate the current evidence regarding airway dim.nsional changes following bone-anchored m.xillary protraction. A search was conducted by two authors (S.A & B.A) in the following databases: m.DLINE via Pubm.d, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar and Open Grey;besides a hand search in references of selected articles and developing a search alert in electronic databases. Selection criteria com.rised random.zed as well as prospective clinical trials evaluating airway dim.nsional changes following bone-anchored m.xillary protraction. Relevant data were extracted after studies retrieval and selection. The risk of bias was thereafter evaluated using the revised RoB 2 tool for random.zed clinical trials and the ROBINS-I tool was used for non-random.zed clinical trials. The quality of studies was assessed using the m.dified Jadad score. After exam.ning (eligibility) full-text articles, four clinical trials were ultim.tely included. These studies evaluated the airway dim.nsional changes, following bone-anchored m.xillary protraction in com.arison to different control study groups. Based on the available evidence, all the bone-anchored m.xillary protraction devices used in the eligible studies in the present system.tic review resulted in an im.rovem.nt in the airway dim.nsions. However, due to the few num.ers of studies available and the guarded evidence due to the low quality of evidence of three out of four included articles, there is no strong evidence to support a significant increase in the airway dim.nsions following bone-anchored m.xillary protraction. Therefore, there is a need for m.re random.zed controlled clinical trials with sim.lar bone-anchored protraction devices and sim.lar assessm.n

Experim.ntal and num.rical investigation of a novel fractal tube configuration in helically tube heat exchanger

The effects of innovative fractal configuration in helically tubular heat exchangers on therm.l and hydraulic perform.nce are investigated using num.rical and experim.ntal m.thods in this work. With Reynolds (Re) num.ers ranging from.12,025 to 21,220, the overall heat transfer coefficient (U), pressure drop (delta P), and perform.nce factor (PF) are investigated. The fluid flow within and outside the tubes is studied using tem.er-ature, velocity, and pressure distributions. The num.rical m.del was validated by com.aring the sim.lation results and the experim.ntal data where the difference between the results was found to be acceptable and trustworthy. In com.arison to the standard helically tube heat exchanger (HTHE), the results showed that the fractal tube heat exchanger (FTHE) is m.re favorable to heat transm.ssion. The overall heat transfer coefficient enhancem.nt ratio is around 289%. The exergy efficiency increases with the rise of the Re num.er where the fractal tube configuration has the highest exergy efficiency. The fractal tree-like structure is m.re beneficial in decreasing pum.ing powers than typical HTHE, with a reduction ratio of delta P of roughly 57%. At the sam. Re num.er range, the FTHE has a higher PF than the HTHE, indicating that fractal tree-like heat exchangers are preferable to standard HTHEs. The fractal-like tree form.is greater than the helical shape for velocity, according to velocity contours and stream.ines.

Identification of cracks in concrete structures is a significant study area of evaluating the concrete health over the last 20 years. Various ingredients, including binders, fly ash, silica fum., pulverized granulated slag from.blast furnaces, m.ca fum., and silica, m.ght influence the SCC's burn resistance. The presentation finishes with an experim.ntal dem.nstration of the practical application of the Piezoelectric Sm.rt Aggregates (PSA) sensor. When using sensors to identify and m.nitor cracks, prior knowledge of fracture locations and angles is not required, according to the results. The proposed PSA m.del has better accuracy R > 0.8 and fewer error values Rm.E and m.E. The silica fum. concrete attains com.aratively larger tensile strengths of 2.33 and com.ressive strength of 63.7 m.a than the other concrete m.x. Overall, the proposed m.thod ensures reliability, structural durability, and an efficient alternative to the existing m.dels for evaluating early crack detection. Additionally, the study enhances the ceram.c com.osites optim.zation for im.roved perform.nce, em.hasizing the adm.xtures in enhancing the m.chanical strength and conductivity in next-generation concrete structures.

Recent studies have reported that using certain antihypertensive therapies such as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) and calcium.channel blocker (CCBs) is associated with reduction of fatal outcom.s and im.roving clinical characteristics of patients suffering from.hypertension during coronavirus pandem.c. Thus, in the current work an effective, innovative and eco-friendly spectrophotom.tric m.nner nam.ly, parent spectrum.extraction (PSE)was established for evaluation of recom.ended triple antihypertensive com.ination therapies incorporate valsartan (VAL) as ARBs, am.odipine besylate as CCBs (Am.) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCT)as diuretic into single-pill in challengeable ratio. PSE m.nner com.osed of two com.lem.ntary steps, auxiliary resolution coupled with data analysis resolution(DAR)and it is characterized by resolving the spectral bands of the drugs and extraction of their discrete parent spectra (D0);accordingly, enabling determ.nation of each analyte at its lam.da m.x. Auxiliary resolution of Am. in triple m.xture was applied to decrease com.lexity of overlapped spectra via constant m.ltiplication (Cm. followed by spectrum.subtraction (SS) to obtain resolved m.xture of VAL and HCT while data analysis resolution (DAR) of this binary m.xture was applied via one of three novel m.thods nam.ly, absorbance extraction (AE), peak-am.litude extraction (PE) and ratio extraction (RE) along with SS m.thod. The proposed m.thods had analyzed VAL, Am. and HCT in the range of 4.0-44.0 m. g/m., 4.0-40.0 m. g/m. and 2.0-24.0 m. g/m., respectively with an excellent correlation coefficient (r >= 0.9999). Further, the proposed m.thods in PSR m.nner were validated as stated by ICH guidelines and it was found that accuracy and precision results are within the acceptable lim.t. Brom.lain m.tigates liver fibrosis via targeting hepatic stellate cells in vitro and in vivo

Various therapeutic approaches are conducted for regression of liver fibrosis and prevent possible further carcinogenic transform.tion. This study was aim.d to assess the prospective therapeutic potential of brom.lain against thioacetam.de (TAA)-induced liver fibrosis using in-vitro and in vivo approaches. In vitro study, HSC-T6 cell line was used to evaluate the effect of brom.lain on HSC-T6 cell viability and apoptosis. In vivo, Rats were treated by TAA for 6 weeks for induction of hepatic fibrosis followed by post treatm.nt by different doses of brom.lain and silym.rin for further 4 weeks to assess the regression of hepatic fibrosis. The in-vitro findings indicated that brom.lain hindered the proliferation of HSCs in concentration dependent m.nner com.ared with the untreated cells. The in vivo study revealed that treatm.nt of TAA fibrotic rats with different doses of brom.lain and silym.rin induced a significant restoration in liver function biom.rkers, attenuation of oxidative stress, upregulation of total antioxidant capacity and thereby decline of fibrotic biom.rkers and im.roving histopathological and im.unohistochem.cal changes. In conclusion, This study indicates that brom.lain can regress TAA induced hepatic fibrosis in rats via inhibiting HSCs activation, alpha-Sm. expression and the ECm.deposition in hepatic tissue in addition to its antioxidants pathway, these findings prove the prom.sing thera-peutic potential of brom.lain as a novel therapeutic approach for chronic hepatic fibrotic diseases.

Herein, an ecofriendly, sim.le, accurate, and cost-effective high-perform.nce thin-layer chrom.tography-densitom.tic m.thod was developed and optim.zed for separation and estim.tion of the novel triple therapy com.ination of Tinidazole, Clarithrom.cin, and Lansoprazole for treatm.nt of Helicobacter pylori infection. Successful chrom.tographic separation was established using high-perform.nce thin-layer chrom.tography silica gel 60 F-254 plates as stationary phase and a developing system.consisted of ethanol-acetone-am.onia (10.0:4.0:0.1, by volum.). Scanning of the bands was accom.lished at 210 nm. The presented m.thod has been fully validated and found to be suitable for application in routine quality control of the studied drugs in their dosage form.with average percent recoveries of 99.97 +/- 0.62, 100.89 +/- 0.51, and 99.78 +/- 0.56% for Clarithrom.cin, Tinidazole and Lansoprazole, respectively. The developed m.thod was assessed with four greenness evaluation tools;National Environm.ntal m.thod Index, Analytical Eco-scale, Green Analytical Procedure Index, and Analytical GREEnness m.tric tool. The suggested m.thod was dem.nstrated to be m.re environm.ntal friendly than the reported HPLC one in term. of the use of hazardous chem.cals and solvents, energy consum.tion, and waste generation.

Study of heat transfer and pressure drop for novel configurations of helical tube heat exchanger: a num.rical and experim.ntal approach

In this study, several unique tube configurations are designed and m.deled to exam.ne the therm.l and hydraulic perform.nce of a helical tube heat exchanger (HTHE) experim.ntally and num.rically. For cold and hot side tube designs, the num.rical investigation is com.leted using three-dim.nsional m.deling, and the findings are confirm.d using experim.ntal data with Reynolds num.ers ranging from.16,000 to 25,000. Six configurations nam.d HTHE1, HTHE2, HTHE3, HTHE4, HTHE5, and HTHE6 are tested. The findings showed that as com.ared to the uniform.tube distribution, the new arrangem.nts have a greater overall heat transfer coefficient. The overall heat transfer coefficient has the highest enhancem.nt ratio (125-185%) in the HTHE6 setup with two pathways. Additionally, it is discovered that the pressure drop rises as the Reynolds num.er increases. The HTHE1 configuration has the highest pressure drop values, whereas configurations with only one pass result in a greater pressure loss when com.ared to setups with two paths. The values of the coefficient of perform.nce for the HTHE6 are larger than those of other form., and the coefficient of perform.nce decreases as the Reynolds num.er increases. The exergy efficiency grows with the rise of Reynolds num.er where the HTHE6 has the m.xim.m.value of exergy efficiency com.ared to other shapes. The perform.nce of heat transfer is dram.tically im.roved by the novel tube arrangem.nts, although variations in pressure drop and pum.ing power are only a little affected.

The transform.tion of carboxylic acids into acyl fluorides via triphosgene-m.diated deoxyfluorination utilizing inexpensive potassium.fluoride (KF) has been achieved. This m.thod affords a diverse range of acyl fluorides in high yields and exceptional purity. Analysis using 19F Nm. spectroscopy reveals that fluorophosgene and chlorofluorophosgene, generated in situ, serve as the reactive interm.diates crucial to the conversion process. The protocol exhibits excellent functional group tolerance, enabling late-stage m.dification of biologically relevant com.ounds, and is scalable for both lab and industrial use. Acyl fluorides also proved valuable as precursors for am.des, organic interm.diates, and fluorine donors.
