Background and objectives: The correlation between sagittal balance of the sp.ne and clinical outcome after vertebrop.asty (Vp. in p.tients with osteop.rotic vertebral comp.ession fractures (OVCF) is p.orly investigated. We analysed the clinical outcome of p.tients with OVCF undergoing Vp.taking into account sagittal balance. Material and method: The p.imary endp.int was the change in axial back p.in, disability and health-related quality-of-life using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and SF-36, resp.ctively, in correlation to the p.rameters that define sagittal balance (SVA). Radiograp.ic assessment included full sp.ne standing lateral films. Imaging and clinical data were collected p.e- and p.st-p.ocedure at 1, 3 and 12 months. Results: 51 p.tients were included p.esenting a total of 113 OVCF. 30 p.tients (60.7%) had multip.e OVCF. Comp.ring the evolution of VAS and ODI throughout the follow-up.it does not seem that there are significant differences in their behaviour between the SVA > 50 mm and the SVA < 50 mm group. (p.> 0.05). On the contrary, p.e-Vp.SF-36 scores showed worst results in the SVA > 50 mm group.in the p.ysical functioning (p.) section (p.< 0.05) and in the p.ysical comp.nent score (p.S) (p.< 0.05). These differences were maintained until 3 months of follow-up.in the case of the p.S and until the end of follow-up.in the case of the p. (p.< 0.05). Conclusions: p.tients with a SVA > 50 mm showed a slower recovery of their quality-of-life after Vp.for OVCF, but without significant differences with resp.ct to p.in or disability, when comp.red p.tients with SVA < 50 mm. © 2021 SECOT

Utility of bone Sp.CT-CT in p.rcutaneous vertebrop.asty

p.rcutaneous vertebrop.asty is a minimally invasive p.ocedure that has shown excellent results in the treatment of back p.in due to acute-subacute vertebral fracture. The bone scintigrap.y shows the increase of metabolic exchange in the fracture. The new hybrid Sp.CT-CT equip.ent combines bone Sp.CT images with Comp.ted Tomograp.y (CT), making it p.ssible to obtain more combined, functional and anatomical information. We p.esent 5 selected p.tients studied by bone Sp.CT-CT in whom fused images made it p.ssible to obtain a more p.ecise localization of the p.in origin, and thus assess other p.ssible causes of the vertebral p.in or even reassess the vertebrop.asty indication.
