Schizophrenia has often been viewed as a disorder of connectivity. The single nucleotide polymorphism rs1059004 in the oligodendrocyte lineage transcription factor 2 gene locus has been reported to be associated with schizophrenia. We measured the functional connectivity and functional brain network topology properties in 49 schizophrenic patients and 47 healthy controls. We compared the strength and diversity of the functional connectivity and topological properties of functional networks between different genotypes. The correlations among functional connectivity, topological properties and behavioral performances were also investigated in this study. We found that the connectivity strength of schizophrenic patients carrying the risk A allele was generally decreased whereas connectivity diversity was increased. Regarding topological properties, all groups showed small-world properties, the nodal efficiency showed significant differences in the right precuneus and left middle temporal pole between different genotypes in schizophrenic patients. Moreover, the nodal efficiency in the left middle temporal pole was positively correlated with the neuropsychological assessment battery results of the schizophrenic patients who were homozygous for the C allele. Our results elucidate the contribution of rs1059004 to the functional brain network, and may help enhance the present understanding of the role of risk gene in the functional dysconnectivity of schizophrenia.

In this letter, a novel on-orbit estimation and calibration method of GPS antenna geometry offsets for attitude determination of LEO satellites is proposed. Both baseline vectors in the NED coordinate system are achieved epoch-by-epoch firstly. Then multiple epochs' baseline vectors are united to compute all the offsets via an UKF for a certain long time. After on-orbit estimation and calibration, instantaneous and accurate attitude can be achieved. Numerical results show that the proposed method can obtain the offsets of each baseline in all directions with high accuracy estimation and small STDs, and effective attitudes can be achieved after antenna geometry calibration using the estimated offsets. The high accuracy give the proposed scheme a strong practical-oriented ability.

This paper deals with the problem of estimating the unknown parameters in the drift mixed fractional Brownian motion based on discrete-sampled observations. We construct two different estimators for the drift parameter based on the approximation by random walks of the driving noise and prove the consistency of these two estimators. Some numerical simulations are also presented to illustrate the performance of these maximum likelihood estimators. The effect of wastewater particles on catalytic ozonation during the treatment of petrochemical secondary effluent (PSE) was investigated. The dissolved organic carbon (DOC) removal results indicated that wastewater particles could significantly affect the catalytic oxidation reaction and increase ozone (O-3) consumption. When the suspended solids (SS) was filtered by the 0.45 mu m membrane, the O-3 dosage to DOC removal ratio was 1.99 mg(O3) mg(DOC)(-1), while it increased to 2.99 mg(O3) mg(DOC)-1 when the SS concentration was 50 +/- 1.57 mg L-1. Wastewater particles can react with O-3, thus reducing the O-3 and hydroxyl radicals (% OH) available for DOC removal. When the SS concentration was 30 +/- 0.96 mg L-1, O-3 dosages lower than 10 mg L-1 did not induce a change in the size and surface characteristics of the particles. Following the increase in the O-3 dosage to 36 mg L-1, extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) reacted with O-3/(center dot) OH with different characteristics. Dissolved organic matter (DOM) had the highest depletion reaction rate, followed by the loosely bound EPS (LB-EPS) and tightly bound EPS (TB-EPS). The average reaction rates of the three constituents were 1.44, 0.212, and 0.079 mg L-1 min(-1), respectively. In addition, the results showed that eliminating wastewater particles would be beneficial for the removal of organic micro-pollutants (OMPs) by catalytic ozonation.

Precaution of classical swine fever (CSF) is an important mission for the worldwide swine industry. Glycoprotein E2 is the leading antigen candidate for subunit vaccine of classical swine fever virus (CSFV). In this study, two Spy-tagged E2 genes were synthesized in vitro and subcloned into pMCO-AOX vector for intracellular expression in Pichia pastor-is after methanol induction. Western blot analysis and semi-quantitative analysis showed that the yield of recombinant E2 protein was improved 17.87 folds by using co-translocational signal peptide cSIG. After the construction of the tandem multiple copy expression vectors, further increase of E2 production was observed by repetitive transforming expression vectors into P. pastoris genome. Finally, the yeast transformants harboring 8 or 16 copies of cSIG-E2-Spy increased the E2 expression level by 27.01-fold or 30.72-fold, respectively. These results demonstrate that utilizing co-translocational signal peptide together with multi-copy integration strategy can increase the production of recombinant E2 protein efficiently.

Thallium (TI) is a very toxic heavy metal. As a part of ongoing investigations, the mobility, sources and fate of TI were investigated for sediments from a watershed in the northern part of the Pearl River, South China, whose catchment has been seriously impacted by large-scale Pb Zn smelting activities onshore. A wide dispersion of severe TI contamination was observed throughout the depth profiles. A modified IRMM (Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements, Europe) sequential extraction procedure of a selected depth profile uncovered an exceptionally high enrichment of TI in geochemically-mobile fractions (i.e., weak-acid-exchangeable, reducible and oxidizable fractions), on average 5.94 +/- 2.19 mg/kg (74.6% +/- 5.1% of the total TI content) not only in the surface sediments but also in deep sediments. The proximal quantitative source apportionment using Pb isotopic fingerprinting technique indicated that a majority (80%-90%) of TI contamination along the depth profiles is anthropogenically derived from the Pb Zn smelting wastes. The results highlight the pivotal role of smelting activities in discharging huge amounts of geochemically-mobile TI to the sediments down to approximately 1 m in length, which is quantitatively evidenced by Pb isotopic tracing technique. Lead isotopes combined with distribution of TI and Pb contents identified a potential marker for a point source from the Pb Zn smelter in the river catchment, which also provides a theoretical framework for source apportionment of metal contamination in a larger river/marine system and in other sulfide mining/smelting areas likewise.
