Recovering copper ions from wastewater with chitosan to synthesize lead-free primary explosives

Chitosan (CTS) is a well-known adsorbent capable of absorbing copper ions. It's also a high-quality biomass carbon source. The carbon skeleton formed by the pyrolysis of CTS has outstanding electrical conductivity, which can help copper azide (CA), a new type of primary explosive that's particularly sensitive to electrostatic stimuli, be more electrostatically safe. The CTS-Cu complex is precipitated by using CTS to adsorb and flocculate copper ions in wastewater. To construct the Cu@carbonized chitosan (CCTS) precursor material, the organic ligands in the CTS-Cu complex are calcined into a porous three-dimensional carbon matrix, and the copper ions are transformed into copper nanoparticles embedded in CCTS. The azide reaction converts copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) into high-energy CA. With its good electrical conductivity, CCTS maintains its framework structure and effectively improves the electrostatic safety of composite energetic materials. CA@CCTS has a CA content of 69.7%, an electrostatic ignition energy (E-50) of about 1.19 mJ, and a heat release of 1803.22 J/g. This work takes advantage of CA and CTS's environmental friendliness. Two Coordination Polymers@Graphene Hybrid Electrodes for High-Performance Supercapacitors with Enhanced Rate Capability and Specific Capacitance

Hybrids of polyoxometalate(POM)/transition-metal complexes/graphene-based electrode materials not only integrate the advantages of the individual components completely but also ameliorate the shortcomings to some extent, providing an efficient approach to fabricate high-performance supercapacitors. In this work, we synthesized two novel isostructural compounds (Co(itmb)(4)[H2VW12O40]center dot 4H(2)O (1) and Zn(itmb)(4)[H2VW12O40]center dot 3H(2)O (2)) based on the Keggin ions via a hydrothermal method (itmb=1-(imidazo-1-ly)-4-(1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene). The specific capacitance of 1@50 %graphene (405.3 F g(-1)) and 2@50 %graphene (339.2 F g(-1)) were 1.33 and 1.19 times of 1 and 2, respectively. In addition, the 1@50 %graphene (93.5 %) and 2@50 %graphene (96 %) possess higher rate performance than 1 (90 %) and 2 (91 %), suggesting a significant enhancement of the electrical performance.

Expression of a plastid-localized sugar transporter in the suspensor is critical to embryogenesis

Plant growth and development rely on sugar transport between source and sink cells and between different organelles. The plastid-localized sugar transporter GLUCOSE-6-PHOSPHATE TRANSLOCATER1 (GPT1) is an essential gene in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thahana). Using a partially rescued gpt1 mutant and cell-specific RNAi suppression of GPT1, we demonstrated that GPT1 is essential to the function of the embryo suspensor and the development of the embryo. GPT1 showed a dynamic expression/accumulation pattern during embryogenesis. Inhibition of GPT1 accumulation via RNA1 using a suspensor-specific promoter resulted in embryos and seedlings with defects similar to auxin mutants. Loss of function of GPT1 in the suspensor also led to abnormal/ectopic cell division in the lower part of the suspensor, which gave rise to ectopic embryo, resulting in twin embryos in some seeds. Furthermore, loss of function of GPT1 resulted in vacuolar locali- zation of PIN-FORMED1 (PIN1) and altered DRS auxin activity. Proper localization of PIN1 on the plasma membrane is essential to polar auxin transport and distribution, a key determinant of pattern formation during embryogenesis. Our findings suggest that the function of GPT1 in the embryo suspensor is linked to sugar and/or hormone distribution between the embryo proper and the maternal tissues, and is important for maintenance of suspensor identity and function during embryogenesis.

Phase Equilibria of Natural Gas Hydrates in Bulk Brine and Marine Sediments from the South China Sea

Studies on gas hydrate phase equilibrium conditions are reported widely in the literature. However, the data available for natural gas hydrates (NGHs) in real marine conditions are limited. In this study, NGH dissociation conditions in bulk brine and marine sediments were measured by using a microdifferential scanning calorimetry (mu-DSC). The sediments used in the experiment were obtained from the Shenhu area of the South China Sea, and the natural gas, as well as part of the water samples, were prepared according to the field data. Additionally, the Chen-Guo model was improved to calculate the NGH equilibrium conditions in the systems containing electrolytes and porous sediments. The experimental results showed that the NGH is relatively more stable than pure CH4 hydrate. The hydrate phase equilibrium curves shift to the left with the increased salinity in bulk water and sediments. In addition, the hydrate decomposition temperatures in marine sediments are obviously lower than those in bulk water. The average deviations of the improved model are 2.32% and 3.7% for bulk brine and sediments, respectively, which indicates great predictability. We consider that besides pore size as the main factor affecting the hydrate phase equilibrium, the water absorption capacity of marine sediments can also affect their decomposition conditions. The hydrate decomposition enthalpies were calculated by the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, and the results showed that the enthalpies increased with the decreased salinity and the addition of marine sediments. These findings are significant to NGH production safety in real marine sediments.

Effects of Micellization Behavior on the Interfacial Adsorption in Binary Anionic/Nonionic Surfactant Systems: A Molecular Simulation Study

A surfactant interfacial adsorption process is highly associated with its micellization behaviors in the water phase, which is of great fundamental and practical significance in enhanced oil recovery. In this paper, the typical anionic surfactant 1-dodecanesulfonic acid sodium (DAS) and nonionic surfactants octylphenol polyoxyethylene ether-n (OP-n, n = 1, 5, and 10) are introduced to investigate their micellization behavior and interfacial adsorption process via molecular dynamics simulation. Number density profiles reveal that the additional OP5 molecules in the water phase generate the mixed micelle with DAS molecules and greatly promote its interfacial adsorption. Interaction energy calculation is employed to confirm the interaction of anionic/nonionic surfactants in the mixed micelle. Then, the radial distribution function, solvent-accessible surface area, and solvation free energy are calculated to further explore and verify the adsorption mechanism of the mixed micelle. It is found that the nonionic surfactant obviously decreases the hydrophilicity of the mixed micelle in the water phase, which should be responsible for its intensive tendency of the interfacial adsorption.

The climate and environment of the Tibetan Plateau (TP) are sensitive to human activities. As a key component highly influencing global climate and environment, organic aerosol over the TP is investigated in this study, especially in organic composition and its sources. This study aims to explore the composition characteristics, seasonal variation, and potential sources of organic aerosol including two episodes through one-year sampling at the yangbajing (YBJ) site in the TP. A total of 120 primary and secondary organic species as well as organic carbon (OC) and elemental carbon (EC) were measured in PM2.5. The annual average concentrations of OC, EC, and organic species were 3.12 +/- 3.73 mu gC/m3, 0.28 +/- 0.18 mu gC/m3 and 104 +/- 36.6 ng/m3, respectively. High ratio of OC to EC (OC/EC) and low ratio of fatty acids to n-alkanes were found for aerosol in the TP. The OC/EC ratio was 11.8 +/- 10.2 on average at the YBJ site and strongly correlated with levoglucosan, a tracer for biomass burning, but not so with typical secondary species, indicating that the high ratio of OC/EC over the TP was more influenced by biomass burning than secondary formation. The ratio of fatty acids to n-alkanes at YBJ was 1.39 +/- 0.29 on average, lower than those reported over urban areas (3.13 +/- 1.49), probably owing to less residential cooking activities. Seasonally, the non-monsoon season had significant increases in primary organic aerosol (POA) tracers, among which biomass burning tracers had a higher increase percentage than other specific tracers. On the contrary, the levels of secondary organic aerosol (SOA) tracers, especially isoprene- and monoterpenederived SOA tracers were enhanced in the monsoon season (summer time), largely resulting from high emissions of biogenic volatile organic compounds. Sporophytic control of anther development and male fertility by glucose-6-phosphate/phosphate translocator 1(OsGPT1) in rice

Coordination between the sporophytic tissue and the gametic pollen within anthers is tightly controlled to achieve the optimal pollen fitness. Glucose-6-phosphate/phosphate translocator(GPT) transports glucose-6-phosphate, a key precursor of starch and/or fatty acid biosynthesis, into plastids. Here, we report the functional characterization of Os GPT1 in the rice anther development and pollen fertility. Pollen grains from homozygous osgpt1 mutant plants fail to accumulate starch granules, resulting in pollen sterility. Genetic analyses reveal a sporophytic effect for this mutation. Os GPT1 is highly expressed in the tapetal layer of rice anther. Degeneration of the tapetum, an important process to provide cellular contents to support pollen development, is impeded in osgpt1 plants. In addition, defective intine and exine are observed in the pollen from osgpt1 plants. Expression levels of multiple genes that are important to tapetum degeneration or pollen wall formation are significantly decreased in osgpt1 anthers. Previously, we reported that At GPT1 plays a gametic function in the accumulation of lipid bodies in Arabidopsis pollen. This report highlights a sporophytic role of Os GPT1 in the tapetum degeneration and pollen development. The divergent functions of Os GPT1 and At GPT1 in pollen development might be a result of their independent evolution after monocots and dicots diverged.

卷积神经网络是目标检测中的常用算法,但由于卷积神经网络参数量和计算量巨大导致检测速度慢、功耗高,且难以部署到硬件平台,故文中提出一种采用CPU与FPGA融合结构实现MobileNetV1目标检测加速的应用方法。首先,通过设置宽度超参数和分辨率超参数以及网络参数定点化来减少网络模型的参数量和计算量;其次,对卷积层和批量归一化层进行融合,减少网络复杂性,提升网络计算速度;然后,设计一种八通道核间并行卷积计算引擎,每个通道利用行缓存乘法和加法树结构实现卷积运算;最后,利用FPGA并行计算和流水线结构,通过对此八通道卷积计算引擎合理的复用完成三种不同类型的卷积计算,减少硬件资源使用量、降低功耗。实验结果表明,该设计可以对MobileNetV1目标检测进行硬件加速,帧率可达56.7 f/s,功耗仅为0.603 W。
