Study on the temperature uniformity of workpieces inside an annealing furnace

A numerical analysis model of the transient temperature field was established to address the issue of temperature field measurement in a silicon carbide annealing furnace. Numerical simulations of the vacuum annealing process yielded temperature distributions at 550 degrees C, 1200 degrees C, and 1700 degrees C. Real-time temperature measurements using internal thermocouples were conducted at two points within the furnace, showing actual temperature variations. The comparison between simulated and measured data revealed that the maximum error during the holding stage was within 3 %. Based on this, an analysis of the temperature distribution inside the silicon carbide vacuum annealing furnace was performed. The results indicate that increasing the holding temperature during the annealing process effectively reduces the time needed for the workpieces to stabilize at a uniform temperature and improves temperature uniformity by the end of the process. Additionally, by the end of the annealing process, the highest temperatures of the workpieces are concentrated primarily in the middle pieces. The temperature difference among workpieces near the center is minimal, remaining within 2 degrees C. By the end of the holding phase, 43.64 % of the workpieces in the furnace meet the process requirements. This study offers valuable insights for the structural design and temperature control of silicon carbide vacuum annealing furnaces.

Natural gas hydrates are a promising and environmentally sustainable energy resource, but their commercial production remains challenging. External heating is crucial for improving production efficiency. In this study, we employed a self-developed simulator (IGG-hydrate) to compare the thermal performance of three key heating methods: electric heating (EH), steam injection (SI), and hot water injection (WI). Quantitative indicators, including heating and depressurization thresholds, were introduced to assess the effectiveness of each method. The results demonstrate that external heating significantly facilitates hydrate dissociation, with electric heating and steam injection showing comparable gas production rates and early-stage efficiency. However, both electric heating and steam injection methods can cause localized overheating near injection wells, leading to energy inefficiency. In contrast, hot water injection achieves a more uniform temperature distribution and a broader heating range, while avoiding excessive temperature rise. However, it also reduces depressurization efficiency and increases subsidence near the wells. To optimize performance, we propose a steam-water alternating injection strategy: steam is injected initially for rapid dissociation near the wells, followed by hot water injection to extend the heating range and maintain thermal efficiency with the same equipment.

The activated B-cell-like subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (ABC-DLBCL) displays a worse outcome than the germinal center B-cell-like subtype (GCB-DLBCL). Currently, targeting the tumor microenvironment (TME) is the most promising approach to cure DLBCL with profound molecular heterogeneity;however, the factors affecting the tumor-promoting TME of ABC-DLBCL remain elusive. Here, cytokine interleukin-16 (IL-16) is expressed in tumor cells of ABC-DLBCL and secreted by the cleavage of active caspase-3. The serum IL-16 levels are not only a sensitive marker of treatment response, but also positively correlated with unfavorable prognosis in DLBCL patients. While IL-16 shows few direct promotional effects on tumor cell growth in vitro, its bioactive form significantly promotes tumor progression in vivo. Mechanically, IL-16 increases the infiltration of macrophages by the chemotaxis of CD4+ monocytes in the TME, enhancing angiogenesis and the expression of cytokine IL-6 and IL-10, as well as decreasing T-cell infiltration to accelerate tumor progression. This study demonstrates that IL-16 exerts a novel role in co-ordinating the bidirectional interactions between tumor progression and the TME. IMM0306, a fusion protein of CD20 mAb with the CD47 binding domain of SIRP alpha, reverses the tumor-promoting effects of IL-16, providing new insights into treatment strategy in ABC-DLBCL.

Boosting catalytic performance of N doped porous carbon derived from coal tar pitch: The role of N species and the contribution of 1O2

In this study, nitrogen-doped carbon material (N-PC-d) derived from coal tar pitch using dicyandiamide as N source was successfully synthesized, exhibiting outstanding catalytic performance in the activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the degradation of Orange G (OG). By optimizing key parameters such as PMS dosage, NPC dosage, nitrogen source, pH, anions, and PS source, the optimal N-PC-d/PMS system achieved a degradation rate 1.45 times higher than that of the PC/PMS system within a broad pH range (2.0-10.0). Through electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and quenching experiments, it was found that singlet oxygen (1O2) was the predominant species accountable for OG degradation, while reactive oxygen species (ROS), including superoxide (O2 & sdot;-), hydroxyl radicals (& sdot;OH), and sulfate radicals (SO4 & sdot;-), played auxiliary roles. Moreover, the structure-activity relationship analysis revealed that functional groups such as C--C, C--O, and pyridine N were mainly involved in PMS activation. The degradation mechanism of OG was further elucidated by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS). This research presented a cost-efficient N-doped porous carbon material for environmental remediation and provides more profound insights into the mechanisms of PMS activation by N doped carbon-based materials.

Finely-Tuning Chemiluminescent Color of CdTe Nanocrystals and Its Application for Near-Infrared Semi-Automatic Immunoassay

Chemiluminescence (CL), especially commercialized CL immunoassay (CliA), is normally performed within the eye-visible region of the spectrum by exploiting the electronic-transition-related emission of the molecule luminophore. Herein, dual-stabilizers-capped CdTe nanocrystals (NCs) is employed as a model of nanoparticulated luminophore to finely tune the CL color with superior color purity. Initialized by oxidizing the CdTe NCs with potassium periodate (KIO4), intermediates of the reactive oxygen species (ROS) tend to charge CdTe NCs in both series-connection and parallel-connection routes and dominate the charge-transfer CL of CdTe NCs. The CdTe NCs/KIO4 system can exhibit color-tunable CL with the maximum emission wavelength shifted from 694 nm to 801 nm, and the red-shift span is over 100 nm. Both PL and CL of each of the CdTe NCs are bandgap-engineered;the change in the NCs surface state via CL reaction enables CL of each of the CdTe NCs to be red-shifted for similar to 20 nm to PL, while the change in the NCs surface state via labeling CdTe NCs to secondary-antibody (Ab(2)) enables CL of the CdTe NCs-Ab(2) conjugates to be red-shifted for another similar to 20 nm to bare CdTe NCs. The CL of CdTe753-Ab(2)/KIO4 is similar to 791 nm, which can perform near-infrared CL immunoassay and semi-automatically determined procalcitonin (PCT) on commercialized in vitro diagnosis (IVD) instruments.

Studies on New Steroidal Saponins from Allii macrostemonis Bulbus and Their Antitumor Activities

Two new steroidal saponms（2, 3） and two known compounds（1, 4） were isolated from 75% ethanol extract ofAllii macrostemonis bulbus by various spectral methods. The two new steroidal saponins were respectively elucidated as （25S）-26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-5α-furostanol-2α,3β,22,26-tetrol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl（1→2）-[β-D- glucopyranosyl（1→3）]-β-D-glucopyranosyl（1→4 ）-β-D-galactopyranoside（2 ） and 26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-5α- furostanol-25（ 27）-ene-3β,22,26-tetrol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl（ 1→2 ）-[β-D-glucopyranosyl（ 1→3 ）] -β-D-glucopyranosyl- （1→4）-β-D-galactopyranoside（3）. Compound 4 was obtained from this medical plant for the first time. The activity experiments of proliferation inhibition on tumor cells were performed by cell counting kit-8（CCK-8） method for compound 2（25S-configuration） and its isomer（compound 1, 25R-configttration）. The results show that compounds 1 and 2 have weak inhibition on lung cancer A549 cells, melanoma A375 cells and breast cancer MCF-7 cells as well as certain inhibitory effect on liver cancer HepG2 cells, and the inhibitory effect of compound 1 is stronger than that of compound 2.

Seafloor CO2 sequestration in the form of gas hydrates offers expansive geological opportunities for carbon neutrality strategies. Guided by phase equilibrium conditions, this study employs a self-developed multi-physical simulator to investigate how methane hydrate production beneath a CO2 sequestration zone can facilitate carbon storage. A dual-horizontal-well model is constructed and validated based on field measurements. Through numerical simulations, the effects of methane hydrate production timing, CO2 injection rate, and injection depth on carbon sequestration over a 100,000-year timescale are examined. Two novel metrics-sequestration efficiency and safe distance-are introduced. Results indicate that extracting methane hydrates in the later stages of CO2 injection is optimal. Furthermore, an efficient sequestration window exists for both injection rate and depth. By exploring the relationship between sequestration efficiency and storage safety, this study provides a new perspective for implementing CO2 sequestration pathways.

The antiallergic activity of flavonoids extracted from Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium

The fruits of Citrus are popular all over the world. It was reported that the extracts of fruits possessed antiallergic activities. In China, Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (CRP) is a production of peels. In this study, flavonoids were extracted by solvent method, and enriched by polyamide. Then antiallergic activity of flavonoids was investigated in vivo and in vitro. Under optimal parameters, most abundant compounds of extracts were hesperidin and narirutin, their contents were 232.0325 and 98.7946 mg/g, respectively. In vitro, RBL-2H3 cell line was used to investigate the antiallergic activity. As the results shown, -hexosaminidase release of antigen-induced degranulation was decreased by flavonoids. An ovalbumin-induced allergic asthmatic model was used to test the activity of the flavonoids in vivo. After treated with different concentrations of flavonoids, the levels of IgE, IL-4, and IL-13 decreased significantly. These findings provide evidence that flavonoids extracted from CRP have potential using in antiallergic therapeutic area. Practical applicationsOranges are popular all over the world as fruit, besides a little percent of peels are applied as traditional medicine in China, the others are thrown away as rubbish. To explore the new way to extend the application of peels, we extracted the total flavonoids from Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (CRP) and evaluated the antiallergic activity of it. Fortunately, the total flavonoids have antiallergic activity in vitro and vivo. The findings provide evidence that extracts from CRP have potential using in antiallergic therapeutic area. It can also afford a theoretical basis for the new application of orange peel.
