Defoliant sensitivity is an important trait of machine-picked cotton that directly affects the defoliation efficiency and the quality of machine-picked cotton fibers. Identification of the genetic components underlying defoliant sensitivity in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is highly important. In this study, the defoliation rate (DR) of 328 re-sequenced upland cotton accessions after 5 days of defoliant treatment was evaluated at two locations for two years in four environments;the results showed a great variation among the accessions, and the phenotype were normally distributed. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) was subsequently performed with resequencing data and defoliation rate data. As a result, two quantitative trait loci (QTL) related to defoliation rate were identified, qDS-A05 and qDS-A06, among which, qDS-A06 was identified in three environments. By combining linkage disequilibrium (LD) analysis, haplotype analysis, and expression analysis, a key candidate gene for DR was identified in qDS-A06, which was named GhDS-A06. This gene encodes a carboxylate clamp (CC)-tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) protein, and is likely involved in the development of the abscission zone according to the reference of the function of TPR proteins in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana L.). Additionally, the favorable haplotype frequency of GhDS-A06 varied among diverse areas of cotton growing in China, and the favorable haplotype frequency in northwestern China was much greater than that in other regions, which suggested that the favorable haplotype GhDS-A06 was artificially selected during breeding for machine-harvested cotton in northwestern China. The findings in the study not only provide genetic insights into defoliant sensitivity in upland cotton but also offer an ideal target for molecular breeding of defoliant sensitivity improved machine-harvested cotton plants.

Fe-Mn-Cu-Ce/Al2O3 as an efficient catalyst for catalytic ozonation of bio-treated coking wastewater: Characteristics, efficiency, and mechanism

It is important to develop a catalyst that has high catalytic activity and can improve the degradation efficiency of refractory organic pollutants in the catalytic ozonation process. In this study, Fe-Mn-Cu-Ce/Al2O3 was synthesised via impregnation calcination for catalytic ozonation of bio-treated coking wastewater. The physical and chemical characteristics of the catalysts were analysed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF), X-ray photoelec-tron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller nitrogen adsorption-desorption methods. The effects of catalyst dosage, pH, and reflux ratio on the degradation efficiency of wastewater were examined in laboratory-scale experiments. The chem-ical oxygen demand (COD) removal rate of bio-treated coking wastewater was estimated to be 52.76 % under optimal conditions. The experiments on the catalytic mechanism demonstrated that the surface hydroxyl formed by the Lewis acid sites on the surface of the catalyst can react with ozone as the active site forming the active oxygen (center dot OH, .O2-, and 1O2), thereby efficiently degrading the organic pollutants in coking wastewater. Furthermore, a pilot-scale experiment on the catalytic ozonation of bio-treated coking wastewater was carried out using an Fe-Mn-Cu-Ce/Al2O3 catalyst, while the effects of the initial pollutant concentration, ozone concentration, and gas flow on the COD removal rate were studied on a pilot scale. It was found that the COD removal rate of the wastewater was ti 60 % under optimal parameters. After the treatment, the wastewater steadily reached the coking wastewater discharge standard (COD < 80 mg/L), while the operating cost of catalytic ozonation reached ti 0.032$/m3, thereby paving the way toward economic engineering applications. Effect of planting salt-tolerant legumes on coastal saline soil nutrient availability and microbial communities

Soil salinization is a serious global environmental problem affecting sustainable development of agriculture. Legumes are excellent candidates for the phytoremediation of saline soils;however, how soil microbes mediate the amelioration of coastal saline ecosystems is unknown. In this study, two salt-tolerant legumes, Glycine soja and Sesbania cannabina were planted in coastal saline soil for three years. Soil nutrient availability and microbiota structure (including bacteria, fungi, and diazotrophs) were compared between the phytoremediated soils and control soil (barren land). Planting legumes reduced soil salinity, and increased total carbon, total nitrogen, and NO3  -N contents. Among the soil microbiota, some nitrogen-fixing bacteria (e.g., Azotobacter) were enriched in legumes, which were probably responsible for soil nitrogen accumulation. The complexity of the bacterial, fungal, and diazotrophic networks increased significantly from the control to the phytoremediated soils, suggesting that the soil microbial community formed closer ecological interactions during remediation. Furthermore, the dominant microbial functions were chemoheterotrophy (24.75%) and aerobic chemoheterotrophy (21.97%) involved in the carbon cycle, followed by nitrification (13.68%) and aerobic ammonia oxidation (13.34%) involved in the nitrogen cycle. Overall, our findings suggested that G. soja and S. cannabina legumes were suitable for ameliorating saline soils as they decreased soil salinity and increased soil nutrient content, with microorganisms especially nitrogen-fixing bacteria, playing an important role in this remediation process.

Process-in-Memory (PIM) has become a favorable solution for data intensive applications with its advantages of placing processing units in or near memory, reducing the movement of data between memory and processing unit. However, most recent PIM platforms have relatively large limitations in terms of computing flexibility and types of computing, and programming is complicated, which cannot provide a unified programming framework. Therefore, it becomes a challenge to deploy the code to the hardware, which severely restricts the application development on the PIM platform. This paper presents a method of code conversion based on the PIM platform, which allows users to develop applications on the PIM platform with the high-level programming language, makes the PIM platform more accessible in the development of data intensive applications.

黑茶是最受欢迎的茶类之一,为梳理黑茶研究进程,本文利用CiteSpace可视化分析软件,基于中国知网(China national knowledge infrastructure,CNKI)数据库和Web of Science(WOS)数据库核心集合,筛选出的3436篇中文文献和617篇英文文献,对作者、关键词、研究机构、国家以及发表期刊等信息进行可视化分析。结果表明,黑茶文献数量呈上升趋势,中文研究早于英文研究,正处于高速发展阶段;《福建茶叶》和《Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry》分别是发表黑茶文献最多的中英文期刊;黑茶研究形成了多个研究团体,学者代表有刘仲华、吕才有、周红杰等;研究机构主要为各大农业院校和茶叶研究所,其中,研究成果较深入的机构是云南农业大学、湖南农业大学和安徽农业大学;黑茶研究领域中,我国是影响力最大的国家,其次为美国和日本;中文研究侧重于黑茶品质形成机理、微生物、香气成分等方面,英文研究更关注黑茶的药理研究。黑茶对糖尿病、动脉粥样硬化等代谢疾病的干预功效研究仍是未来国内外研究的热点。

TXNIP inhibition in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus: design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of quinazoline derivatives

Thioredoxin interacting protein (TXNIP) is a potential drug target for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treatment. A series of quinazoline derivatives were designed, synthesised, and evaluated to inhibit TXNIP expression and protect from palmitate (PA)-induced beta cell injury. In vitro cell viability assay showed that compounds D-2 and C-1 could effectively protect beta cell from PA-induced apoptosis, and subsequent results showed that these two compounds decreased TXNIP expression by accelerating its protein degradation. Mechanistically, compounds D-2 and C-1 reduced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and modulated TXNIP-NLRP3 inflammasome signalling, and thus alleviating oxidative stress injury and inflammatory response under PA insult. Besides, these two compounds were predicted to possess better drug-likeness properties using SwissADME. The present study showed that compounds D-2 and C-1, especially compound D-2, were potent pancreatic beta cell protective agents to inhibit TXNIP expression and might serve as promising lead candidates for the treatment of T2DM.

The tumor microenvironment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the main block for the penetration of chemotherapy. In the tumor microenvironment, a dense matrix composed of fibrin is formed on the exterior, while the interior is featured by high reduction, hypoxia and low pH. How to match the special microenvironment to on-demand drug release is the key to improve chemotherapeutic efficacy. Herein, a microenvironment-responsive micellar system is developed to deepen tumoral penetration. Briefly, the conjugation of a fibrin-targeting peptide to PEG-poly amino acid has been utilized to achieve accumulation of micelles in the tumor stroma. By modification of micelles with hypoxia-reducible nitroimidazole which becomes protonated under acidic conditions, their surface charge is more positive, facilitating deeper penetration into tumors. Paclitaxel was loaded onto the micelles via a disulfide bond to enable glutathione (GSH)-responsive release. Therefore, the immunosuppressive microenvironment is relived through the alleviation of hypoxia and depletion of GSH. Hopefully, this work could establish paradigms by designing sophisticated drug-delivery systems to tactfully employ and retroact the tamed tumoral microenvironment to improve the therapeutic efficacy based on understanding the multiple hallmarks and learning the mutual regulation.

With the continuous expansion of China's power grid scale and the increasing number of power users year by year, it is necessary to ensure the normal power supply of users. When a power failure occurs, it is particularly critical whether the emergency repair task can be completed quickly and scientifically. In this paper, an intelligent repair model of “unmanned” distribution network based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed, which adopts speech recognition tech-nology and deep reinforcement learning algorithm to achieve the “unmanned” of the whole system. Users can transmit the emergency repair information to the voice recognition module of the power supply emergency repair center by voice, SMS and IMS, and the module will get the emergency repair position and the amount of emergency repair tasks. Then, the resource allocation module is used to learn the emergency repair resource allocation strategy online, and the intelligent control of emergency repair in distribution network is realized. To verify the proposed algorithm, it is compared with two typical allocation strategies under the same settings. The results of the experiments demonstrate that the method based on deep reinforcement learning performs better in terms of emergency repair delay and intelligent emergency repair of the power supply in distribution networks.
