Surface interaction mechanisms of air bubbles, asphaltenes and oil drops in aqueous solutions with implications for interfacial engineering processes

Hypothesis: Surface interactions of bubbles and oil with interface-active species like asphaltenes influence many interfacial phenomena in various engineering processes. It holds both fundamental and practical significance to quantitatively characterize these ***: The surface forces of air bubbles, asphaltenes and asphaltenes-toluene droplets in various aqueous solutions have been quantified using an integrated thin film drainage apparatus and an atomic force microscope coupled with bubble probe. The effects of asphaltenes concentration, pH, salinity, Ca2+ ions and surfactants have been ***: Hydrophobic interaction drives attachment of bubbles and asphaltenes surfaces or oil droplets under high salinity condition. Increasing asphaltenes concentration in oil droplets enhances their hydrophobic attraction with bubbles due to strengthened asphaltenes adsorption and aggregation at oil-water interface. Increasing pH weakens the hydrophobic interaction as oil surfaces become more negatively charged and less hydrophobic. Under low salinity condition, strong electrical double layer and van der Waals repulsion inhibits the bubble-oil droplet contact. Introducing Ca2+ ions and surfactants leads to strong steric repulsion, preventing bubble-oil contact. This research has advanced our mechanistic understanding of how bubbles and oil droplets interact in aqueous systems and offers useful insights to modulate such interactions in oil production, water treatment and other interfacial processes.

煤炭是我国重要的工业原料,与我国经济发展关系密切。煤炭开采过程中会产生大量矿井水,是重要的非常规水资源,需妥善处理。然而现有矿井水处理技术普遍存在占地大、流程长、需加药、运行维护复杂和出水水质不稳定等问题,为缩短处理流程、提高处理效率和保证出水水质,亟需研发新的关键技术与装备。采用聚瓷膜直滤技术处理矿井水,通过对膜通量、膜比通量、运行压力和循环流量等条件的对比分析,确定最佳运行参数为:运行压力0.2 MPa,循环流量18 m3/h,处理过程无需加药,出水悬浮物质量浓度稳定<1 mg/L,浊度稳定<1 NTU。采用广泛应用的膜堵塞模型来探讨膜污染机制,膜污染分析结果表明,膜污堵主要以滤饼层污堵为主,并伴随中间污堵,具体表现为膜的表面污染和膜孔的堵塞。通过水力反洗及时清除膜表面污染,最佳反洗时间为60 s,通量恢复率为85.12%;通过定时化学清洗清除膜孔污堵,用复配制剂清洗3 h,通量恢复率可达95%以上。工程案例表明,聚瓷膜直滤可直接取代“混凝沉淀-过滤-超滤”(一代三),且已连续稳定运行2 a,满足设计产水量要求,系统回收率均在90%以上,处理后水质达到GB 3838—2002地表水环境质量III类24种标准限值要求,且自动化程度高,可无人值守,实现了矿井水资源化利用绿色短流程、节能高效和智能化新要求,可为该技术大规模推广应用提供技术参考。

A synergistic water-saving strategy combining stage-specific irrigation and application of exogenous thiamine enhances drought resistance of Xinjiang cotton

Background and aimsXinjiang is the largest cotton planting area in China. However, the perennial water shortage in Xinjiang restricts the development of the cotton industry, making drought one of the important limiting factors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of water-saving scheme and thiamine (Thi) application on alleviating the adverse effects of drought stress on the growth and development of *** this study, five Xinjiang-released cotton varieties (Jinken1775, Jinken1565, Huamian702, Zhongmian979, and Jinfeng2) were selected as the research object, and Xinluzao8 served as the drought-sensitive control. Comprehensive drought resistance index (D) of the drought resistance coefficient (DRC) of four yield and four quality traits were used to evaluate the drought resistant ability of the six cotton varieties under different water conditions and Thi spraying *** stage-specific irrigation strategy (60% during vegetative vs. 90% during the flowering and boll stage) concurrently maintained higher drought resistance across cultivars, with Jinken1565 exhibited the highest drought resistance. This scheme reduced irrigation by 26% while sustaining fiber quality. Exogenous 50 mM Thi further enhanced drought tolerance, reducing transpiration rate by 33% and blade damage by 55%. These results demonstrate that stage-specific water management optimizes drought adaptation in cotton cultivation under drought *** study suggests that a 26% water-saving scheme was proposed for most drought-resistant varieties planted in Xinjiang, and an appropriate scheme to achieve stable yield by Thi application during the early drought condition was proposed for varieties with low drought resistant ability.

Cocrystals of axially N-embedded quasi-carbon nanohoops via modulating the electron affinity of guest acceptors

Organic donor-acceptor cocrystals of π-conjugated molecues have shown diverse applications in materials science. However,most cocrystals exist in neutral forms dominated by π-π interactions, while the ionic congeners and corresponding properties are rarely studied due to difficulties in harnessing the degree of charge transfer. Herein, we report cocrystals of axially N-embedded quasi-carbon nanohoops(DPP-D and DPP-T) with electron deficient guests. By modulating the electron affinity of the acceptor guests, the electronic structures of the complexes can be tuned from neutral to ionic states. Specifically, DPP-D interacts with TCNB molecules to form neutral superstructures via intermolecular π-π interactions, giving rise to a deep-red emission in the solid state. In contrast, an ionic complex showing near-infrared region absorptions and paramagnetic character on account of strong charge-transfer interactions is generated when DDQ molecules are involved. Their unique properties can be explained by different degrees of charge transfer and assembly modes, which have clearly been manifested by crystal structures and theoretical calculations. Our studies provide rare examples of π-conjugated macrocycle-based donor-acceptor cocrystals in both neutral and ionic forms, and give insight to the design of multicomponent carbon nanomaterials.

A targeted and efficient CDT system with photocatalytic supplement of H2O2 and hydroxyl radical production at a neutral pH

The bottleneck problems of chemodynamic therapy (CDT) are the dependence on an acidic pH (2.0-4.0), insufficient H2O2 level in tumor tissues, and potential systematic toxicity of inorganic nanomaterials-based CDT agents. In this study, the new tricks of two old compounds, i.e. [Ru(phen)(2)(PIP-OCH3)](PF6)(2) (Ru3, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, PIP-OCH3 = 2-(4-methoxy phenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline) and Fe(tpy)Cl-3 (tpy = 2,2 ':6 ',2 '-terpyridine), were harnessed to construct an ideal CDT system. Ru3 was able to efficiently photo-catalyze NADH oxidation accompanied by the production of H(2)O(2)in situ with a high yield of 73.2%, which can be converted into cytotoxic hydroxyl radicals by the biocompatible Fe(tpy)Cl-3 at a neutral pH. By loading both Ru3 and Fe(tpy)Cl-3 in tumor-targeting bovine serum albumin (BSA), the obtained BSA@Fe/Ru nanoparticles exhibited a highly efficient, selective, and photo-controlled CDT activity both in vitro and in vivo. This work may provide new sights for overcoming the issues confronted in CDT.

Glow and Flash Adjustable Chemiluminescence with Tunable Waveband from the Same CuInS2@ZnS Nanocrystal Luminophore

All commercial chemiluminescence (CL) assays are conducted with either glow or flash CL of eye-visible waveband from chemical luminophores. Herein, glow and flash, as well as waveband adjustable CL from the same nanoparticle luminophore of thiol-capped CuInS2@ZnS nanocrystals (CIS@ZnS-Thiol), are proposed via extensively exploiting the differed redox nature of CL triggering reagents. Taking thiosalicylic acid (TSA) as the model thiol-capping agent, the electron-injection-initiated charge transfer between CIS@ZnS-TSA and reductant can bring out efficient glow CL while the hole-injection-initiated charge transfer between CIS@ZnS-TSA and oxidant can give off obvious flash CL under optimum conditions. The maximum emission wavelength for CL of CIS@ZnS-TSA is adjustable from 730 nm to 823 nm via employing different triggering agents. Promisingly, the coexistent reductant of N2H4 center dot H2O and oxidant of H2O2 can be employed as dual triggering reagents to trigger eye-visible and highly efficient flash CL from CIS@ZnS-TSA. The maximum emission intensity for flash CL of CIS@ZnS-TSA/N2H4-H2O2 is 101-fold greater than the glow CL of CIS@ZnS-TSA/N2H4 and 22-fold greater than the flash CL of CIS@ZnS-TSA/H2O2, respectively. The flash CL from CIS@ZnS-TSA/N2H4-H2O2 is qualified for highly sensitive and selective CL immunoassay in a commercialized typical procedure with the entire operating process manually terminated within 35 min.

Biocompatible hypocrellin A-Fe(iii) nanoparticles exhibiting efficient photo-activated CDT in vitro and in vivo

Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) is novel and promising for cancer treatment, however, the potential systematic toxicity of the used nanoparticles is still a big concern. In this work the biocompatible hypocrellin A-Fe(iii) nanoparticles (HA-Fe(iii) NPs) were synthesized and studied. The CDT effect of HA-Fe(iii) NPs in the dark is negligible but can be photo-activated upon red light irradiation, which is meaningful to realize precise CDT treatment by selective light irradiation. Moreover, HA-Fe(iii) NPs can also generate O-2(-), which may be converted into H2O2 to further enhance the CDT effect. As a result, HA-Fe(iii) NPs had little cytotoxicity in the dark at the concentration up to 200 mu g ml(-1), but exhibited efficient CDT activity upon red light irradiation under both normoxic and hypoxic conditions. The in vivo results also showed that HA-Fe(iii) NPs can efficiently inhibit tumor growth upon 628 nm light irradiation.

We study the mean-field and semiclassical limit of the quantum many-body dynamics with a repulsive δ-type potential N3βV (Nβx) and a Coulomb potential, which leads to a macroscopic fluid equation, the Euler-Poisson equation with pressure. We prove quantitative strong convergence of the quantum mass and momentum densities up to the first blow up time of the limiting equation. The main ingredient is a functional inequality on the δ-type potential for the almost optimal case β ∈ (0, 1), for which we give an analysis of the singular correlation structure between particles. Nowadays, due to the increasingly complex and huge data flow, anomaly detection has become an important technology to ensure the high security and reliability of the systems. It helps identify unusual observations in the data, thereby protecting safety and reducing risk. However, in the field of multivariate temporal anomaly detection, there are still some difficulties in spatio-temporal correlation mining of variables, generalization ability in dealing with complex temporal sequences, and feature learning under different granularity. Therefore, we propose an unsupervised anomaly detection method for multivariate time series based on contrastive learning and Autoformer autoencoder. In order to fully explore the spatio-temporal correlation of time series data, this paper uses Graph Attention Network and Auto-Correlation to jointly learn spatio-temporal correlation, and obtain positive and negative pairs through time-domain and frequency-domain data augmentation. Finally, the Autoformer autoencoder is used for anomaly detection in a predictive manner. In the loss function section, a joint loss function is formed by introducing contrastive learning losses at the time step and time window granularity, combined with prediction loss, to improve the learning effect. This paper investigates the performance of the proposed method through experiments on the SMAP and MSL public datasets, and achieves better results than baseline methods.
