An H2O2-charging aqueous zinc-polyaniline battery

Self-charging power systems that integrate energy harvesting devices and batteries are attracting much attention in energy technologies. Herein, we designed H2O2-charging aqueous Zn/polyaniline（PANI） batteries by utilizing the redox potential difference between H2O2and the discharged PANI, realizing the chemical charging of the batteries without an external power supply. Owing to the high redox potential and solubility of H2O2in aqueous electrolytes, Zn/PANI batteries display an ultrafast H2O2-charging rate. Furthermore, the H2O2-charging Zn/PANI batteries exhibit excellent cycling stability due to the highly reversible redox behavior and stable structure of PANI cathodes. Their capacity can be controlled by the additive amount of H2O2and the output voltage can remain stable during the discharge process. Impressively, such H2O2-charging batteries can combine multiple charging modes, improving their environmental adaptability. In addition, they can be designed for H2O2single-flow batteries to extend the long-term energy supply and deliver long-term power output as well as excellent scalability. This work will broaden the horizons of self-powering systems.

Precoder design for Network Massive MIMO Optical Wireless Communications

Precoding is a technique employed to enhance transmission rates in various communication systems, including massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and optical wireless communication (OWC). In this study, we focus on network massive MIMO OWC (NM-MIMO-OWC) systems and investigate the precoder design to enhance the sum rate and improve the system performance. We present the network's massive MIMO OWC framework. By utilizing this framework, we are able to calculate the achievable sum rate. Subsequently, we consider the precoding design for maximizing the sum rate while adhering to the total power constraint. To solve this optimization problem, we provide a necessary condition of the optimal solution based on the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions, and propose a low-complexity algorithm to further enhance the efficiency of the proposed precoding technique. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed precoder design significantly improves the transmission rate and effectively maximizes the sum rate.

Phase structure evolution and coercivity mechanism of high-Co containing permanent magnets

The phase structure and magnetic properties of high-Co containing permanent magnets with high thermal stability have been systematically studied in this *** is abnormal that the coercivity of annealed samples was slightly lower than that of sintered samples,while the coercivity was usually enhanced after annealing in conventional Nd–Fe–B *** analysis showed that in addition to rE_(2)(Fe,Co)_(14)B main phase and rE-rich grain boundary phase,there were also new Co-rich magnetic phases located in the grain *** annealing,the phase structures of high-Co containing magnets were readjusted,especially the increasing Co-rich magnetic phase and emerging rE-rich particles precipitated from the main ***,the isolated rE-rich particles would act as the pinning center of the domain wall movement in demagnetization *** was confirmed that the coercivity of annealed high-Co containing magnets was controlled by both nucleation and *** mechanism can partially compensate for the weakening of magnetic isolation due to increased Co-rich magnetic phase,which explained the moderate decrease in coercivity of annealed high-Co containing *** discovery of new coercivity mechanism contributed to in-depth understanding of high-Co containing magnets.

Piezoelectric MEMS microphones based on rib structures and single crystal PZT thin film

In this study,a controllable mass‒frequency tuning method is presented using the etching of rib structures on a single-crystal PZT *** rib structures were optimized to reduce the membrane mass while maintaining the stiffness;therefore,the center frequency could be increased to improve the low-frequency bandwidth of ***,this methodology could reduce the modulus and improve the sensitivity for the same resonant frequency,which typically indicates the maximum acoustic overload point(AOP).The PZT film was chosen because of its greater density;the simulation results showed that PZT could provide a greater frequency tuning(24.9%)compared to that of the AlN film(5.8%),and its large dielectric constant enabled the optimal design to have small electrodes at the maximum stress location while mitigating the sacrificial capacitance effect on electrical *** analytical model of rib-structure microphones was established and greatly reduced the computing *** experimental results of the impedance tests revealed that the center frequencies of the six microphones shifted from 74.6 kHz to 106.3 kHz with rib-structure inner radii ranging from 0μm to 340μm;this result was in good agreement with the those of the analytical analysis and finite element *** the center frequency greatly varied,the measured sensitivities at 1 kHz only varied within a small range from 22.3 mV/Pa to 25.7 mV/Pa;thus,the membrane stiffness minimally ***,a single-crystal PZT film with a(100)crystal orientation and 0.24-degree full width at half maximum(FWHM)was used to enable differential sensing and a low possibility of undesirable *** with a two-stage differential charge amplifier,a differential sensing microphone was experimentally demonstrated to improve the sensitivity from 25.7 mV/Pa to 36.1 mV/Pa and reduce the noise from−68.2 dBV to−82.8 dBV.

BackgroundTeat number is a vital reproductive trait in sows, crucial for providing immunity and nutrition to piglets during lactation. However, "missing heritability" in Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP)-based Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) has led to an increasing focus on structural variations in the genetic analysis of complex biological *** this study, we generated a comprehensive CNV map in a population of French Yorkshire pigs (n = 644) and identified 429 CNVrs. Notably, 44% (189 CNVrs) of these were detected for the first time. Subsequently, we conducted GWAS for teat number in the French Yorkshire pig population using both 80K chip and its imputed data, as well as a GWAS analysis based on CNV regions (CNVr). Interestingly, 80K chip GWAS identified two SNPs located on Sus scrofa chromosome 5 (SSC5) that were simultaneously associated with Total Teat Number (TTN), Left Teat Number (LTN), and right Teat Number (rTN). The leading SNP (WU_10.2_5_76130558) explained 3.33%, 2.69%, and 2.67% of the phenotypic variance for TTN, LTN, and rTN, respectively. Moreover, through imputed GWAS, we successfully identified 30 genetic variants associated with TTN located within the 73.22 -73.30 Mb region on SSC5. The two SNPs identified in the 80K chip GWAS were also located in this region. In addition, CNVr-based GWAS revealed three significant CNVrs associated with TTN. Finally, through gene annotation, we pinpointed two candidate genes, TrIM66 and PrICKLE1, which are related to diverse processes such as breast cancer and abnormal vertebral *** research provides an in-depth analysis of the complex genetic structure underlying teat number, contributing to the genetic enhancement of sows with improved reproductive performance and, ultimately, bolstering the economic benefits of swine production enterprises.

Superhydrophobic surface derived from dual MOF-modified MAO layers for enhanced corrosion protection and ice adhesion resistance of magnesium alloy

The limited corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys hinders their widespread applications. Although micro-arc oxidation (MAO) is a common technique to enhance corrosion resistance, the inherent porosity and microcracks in the ceramic coatings weaken their protective performance. In this study, we employ electrochemical deposition to fabricate a metal-organic framework (MOF) coating to seal the pores of the MAO layer for further improving the corrosion resistance. Subsequently, a candle soot coating is deposited on the MOF layer to obtain a superhydrophobic surface (SHS) with enhanced properties, thereby achieving multiple-level protection for magnesium alloy. Wettability analysis reveals that the static contact angle of the MOF coating after candle soot deposition is approximately 154.1°, demonstrating excellent superhydrophobicity. Moreover, using potentiodynamic polarization technique, SHS exhibits a much lower corrosion current density compared to bare AZ31 substrate, indicating superior corrosion resistance. Additionally, ice formation tests demonstrate that the hydrophobicity of the SHS hinders nucleation and growth of water droplets, effectively inhibiting ice formation, thereby showcasing the anti-icing property of this coating. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

An Oxygen-Independent Photodynamic Therapy Nanoplatform for Combating Anaerobic Infection

Anaerobic bacteria infections remain a major threat to *** stress mediated by photodynamic therapy(PdT)has shown great potential in antimicrobial applications,attributing to its controllability and ***,the hypoxic infection microenvironment severely compromises the therapeutic ***,we designed a nanoplatform comprising the initiator of alkyl radicals(r-),2,2’-azobis[2-(2-imidazolin-2-yl)propane]dihydrochloride(AIPH)-loaded oxidized mesoporous carbon nanoparticles(OMCN)and then coated with a phase change material(PCM)nanoparticle for oxygen-independent PdT to combat anaerobic *** near-infrared(NIr)light irradiation,OMCN mediates the generation of heat to melt PCM,which could trigger the liberation and decomposition of AIPH to produce *** further induce the oxidative damage to bacteria,and cooperate with optothermal effects to eradicate anaerobic *** results,the nanoplatform displays strong synergistic antibacterial behavior,effectively eliminating anaerobic Propionibacterium acnes(***)in vitro under hypoxic conditions,and successfully treating ***-infected cutaneous abscess in mice ***,no distinct toxicity appears through the entire course of ***,this light-activated oxygen-independent PdT offers a novel approach to combat anaerobic bacteria infections.

Computer vision-aided dEM study on the compaction characteristics of graded subgrade filler considering realistic coarse particle shapes

The compaction quality of subgrade filler strongly affects subgrade *** main objective of this research is to analyze the macro-and micro-mechanical compaction characteristics of subgrade filler based on the real shape of coarse ***,an improved Viola-Jones algorithm is employed to establish a digitalized 2d particle database for coarse particle shape evaluation and discrete modeling purposes of subgrade *** indexes of 2d subgrade filler are then computed and statistically ***,numerical simulations are performed to quantitatively investigate the effects of the aspect ratio(Ar)and interparticle friction coefficient(μ)on the macro-and micro-mechanical compaction characteristics of subgrade filler based on the discrete element method(dEM).The results show that with the increasing Ar,the coarse particles are narrower,leading to the increasing movement of fine particles during compaction,which indicates that it is difficult for slender coarse particles to inhibit the migration of fine ***,the average displacement of particles is strongly influenced by the Ar,indicating that their occlusion under power relies on particle *** dis-placement and velocity of fine particles are much greater than those of the coarse particles,which shows that compaction is primarily a migration of fine *** the cyclic load,the interparticle friction coefficientμhas little effect on the internal structure of the sample;under the quasi-static loads,however,the increase inμwill lead to a significant increase in the porosity of the *** study could not only provide a novel approach to investigate the compaction mechanism but also establish a new theoretical basis for the evaluation of intelligent subgrade compaction.

Fine mapping and candidate gene analysis of qGL10 affecting rice grain length

Grain size influences the yield and quality of rice(Oryza sativa L.),and grain length is one of the component traits of grain *** this study,a near-isogenic line LB3 with long grain size was constructed using japonica rice cultivar 02428,with short grain size,as the recipient parent and indica rice cultivar ZYX,with long grain size,as the donor parent,by multi-generation backcrossing and ***-seq was used for preliminary QTL mapping and Indel markers were developed to fine map the *** major QTL,tentatively named qGL10,for grain length was located in a 128.45 kb region of chromosome *** with haplotype analysis of rice varieties,expression pattern analysis of candidate genes suggested LOC_Os10g39130(OsMAdS56)as a candidate *** alignment of OsMAdS56 in 02428 and LB3 revealed that there were 15 SNPs in the promoter region and four in the coding *** haplotype analysis suggested that SNP9(G/A)located in the TGTCACA motif might account for the different expression levels of OsMAdS56 in 02428 and *** results lay a foundation for the application of qGL10 in molecular breeding of new rice varieties.
