Self-assembling chemically modified sirNA nanorings for rNAi therapy and neuroprotection in Alzheimer's disease

The development of rNA interference(rNAi) therapy offers a potential solution for Alzheimer's disease(Ad). However, the brain-blood barrier(BBB) with its selective permeability and pharmacokinetic-related challenges poses restrictions on the delivery of small interfering rNA(si rNA) to the central nervous system(CNS). In this study, we demonstrate that the incorporation of 2'-fluoro(2'-F) substitutions and L-carnitine modification facilitates the self-assembly of si rNA through triple interaction, leading to the formation of nanorings, called LCSF-Nr. Based on the enhanced cellular uptake and lysosomal escape by 2'-F substitution and the transport across the BBB promoted by L-carnitine, the nanorings realized the improved braintargeted delivery of si rNA, both in zebrafish and mice models. Moreover, our findings highlight the therapeutic potential of LCSF-Nr formulation in an Ad zebrafish model through a synergistic effect of downregulating the β-site APP cleavage enzyme1(BACE1) gene and L-carnitine-mediated neuroprotection, effectively inhibiting pathological processes. Overall, these results suggest that the chemical modification-based si rNA self-assembly strategy enables trans-BBB delivery and presents a concise approach for synergistic therapy of Ad.

Vehicle routing problem for fresh products distribution considering customer satisfaction through adaptive large neighborhood search

To deal with the fresh products distribution problem in city logistics, this paper focuses on the customer psychological behavior considering both delivery time and the fresh products quality from the perspective of customer satisfaction. Thereby, we propose a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model, among which a time satisfaction function depending on customers' time windows and a quality satisfaction function considering the freshness of the products are introduced as constraints. Then, an improved Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search algorithm is designed with a new strategy to jump out of the local optimal solutions and with new operators considering satisfaction functions. Numerical experiments on benchmark instances of standard Solomon instances demonstrate the effectiveness and the efficiency of the proposed method. The calculation results showed that the proposed algorithm is superior to previous approaches by obtaining better feasible solutions with less calculation time. Furthermore, managemental insights are provided for enterprises on making wise investments while ensuring customer experience through optimizing distribution strategies.

Ce/BEA has the potential to be applied as a novel passive NO_(x)absorber(PNA)in the after-treatment of vehicles due to its considerable NO_(x)storage ***,as a vehicle exhaust after-treatment material,it must withstand the test of long-term hydrothermal *** work examined the deactivation mechanism of Ce/BEA during hydrothermal aging.3.0 wt%Ce/BEA was prepared using the ionexchange method,and then subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 650℃with 10%H_(2)O for 1-12 h to obtain samples with different aging *** comparison,the H-BEA support was aged under the same ***-Emmett-Teller(BET)method,X-ray diffraction(Xrd),NH_(3)temperature programmed reduction(NH_(3)-TPd),^(27)Al MAS nuclear magnetic resonance(^(27)Al MAS NMr),H_(2)temperature programmed reduction(H_(2)-TPr),and high resolution-transmission electron microscopy(Hr-TEM)were performed to characterize the changes in PNA performance,structure,Ce species,and *** Hr-TEM and H_(2)-TPr results show that CeO_(x)particles appear after hydrothermal aging,which results from the detachment and aggregation of active Ce *** on the^(27)Al MAS NMr results,we conclude that BEA zeolite dealumination leads to the loss of acidic sites and the transformation of active Ce species on the acidic sites into the less active CeO_(x).This is the primary reason for the hydrothermal aging deactivation of Ce/BEA.

High Catalytic Selectivity of Electron/Proton dual-Conductive Sulfonated Polyaniline Micropore Encased IrO2 Electrocatalyst by Screening Effect for Oxygen Evolution of Seawater Electrolysis

Acidic seawater electrolysis offers significant advantages in high efficiency and sustainable hydrogen production. However, in situ electrolysis of acidic seawater remains a challenge. Herein, a stable and efficient catalyst (SPTTPAB/IrO2) is developed by coating iridium oxide (IrO2) with a microporous conjugated organic framework functionalized with sulfonate groups (-SO3H) to tackle these challenges. The SPTTPAB/IrO2 presents a -SO3H concentration of 5.62 x 10(-4) mol g(-1) and micropore below 2 nm numbering 1.026 x 10(16) g(-1). Molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that the conjugated organic framework blocked 98.62% of Cl- in seawater from reaching the catalyst. This structure combines electron conductivity from the organic framework and proton conductivity from -SO3H, weakens the Cl- adsorption, and suppresses metal-chlorine coupling, thus enhancing the catalytic activity and selectivity. As a result, the overpotential for the oxygen evolution reaction (OEr) is only 283 mV@10 mA cm(-2), with a Tafel slope of 16.33 mV dec(-1), which reduces 13.8% and 37.8% compared to commercial IrO2, respectively. Impressively, SPTTPAB/IrO2 exhibits outstanding seawater electrolysis performance, with a 35.3% improvement over IrO2 to 69 mA cm(-2)@1.9 V, while the degradation rate (0.018 mA h(-1)) is only 24.6% of IrO2. This study offers an innovative solution for designing high-performance seawater electrolysis electrocatalysts.

Effects of nano-metakaolin on the enhanced properties and microstructure development of natural hydraulic lime

Natural hydraulic lime(NHL) has garnered increasing attention for its sustainable and suitable performance in the field of historical building restoration. However, the prolonged hardening time and sluggish hydration rate of NHL infiuence the workability, strength development, and durability of construction structures in which it is used. In this study, nano-metakaolin(NMK) was applied as a highly reactive supplementary cementitious material(SCM) for NHL-based mortars to enhance their properties with various ratios. Meanwhile, the effects of NMK and its related enhancement mechanism on the physical properties and chemical structures of NHL composites were systematically investigated, mainly involving the modifications in their microstructure, chemical composition, and C-S-H structure. results demonstrated that NMK-modified samples showed distinct and superior properties to pure NHL sample, such as shorter initial/final setting times(15.1%–49.1%, 27.1%–50.0%), and higher compactness(67.8%–81.4%, 38.1%–44.8%),lower shrinkage(25.0%–56.3%, 12.5%–25.0%), enhanced compressive strength(404.5%–546.0%, 180.8%–354.1%) and fiexural strength(227.5%–351.1%, 59.9%–125.7%) for both early and late curing times(7 and28 days). The inclusion of NMK not only acts as a fine filler, but also promotes NHL's hydrate rate by its super high pozzolanic activity, thus optimizing the pore structures and increasing the content and the average silicate chain length of hydration gel in NHL. Overall, this study can contribute to a deeper understanding of the enhancement mechanism of NMK on the physical properties and chemical structures of NHL from a meso/microscopic perspective, with a view to broadening NHL's potential applications.

In decentralized federated learning (dFL), clients exchange their models with each other for global aggregation. due to a lack of centralized supervision, a client may easily duplicate shared models to save its computing resources. Generally, this plagiarism behavior is hard to detect, while it is harmful to model training performance. To address this issue, we propose an anti-plagiarism dFL framework to efficiently detect plagiarism misconduct. Specifically, we first design a method for detecting plagiarism by adding a time-shift pseudo-noise (PN) sequence to each client's local model before broadcasting. Second, we develop an upper bound of the loss function of dFL with the proposed PN sequence detection method, which is proved to be the convex function of both the amplitude of PN sequences (alpha) and the detection threshold (lambda). Next, we propose an adaptive plagiarism detection (APd) algorithm by jointly optimizing alpha alpha and lambda to enhance the learning performance. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments on MNIST, Adult, Cifar-10, and SVHN datasets to demonstrate that our analytical bounds are consistent with the experimental results. remarkably, the proposed framework can recover up to a 10% classification accuracy loss in the presence of 40% plagiaristic clients.

Alkene Epoxidation with Water by Confined Active Co Sites on BiVO4 Photoanodes under Visible Light

Heterogeneous photoelectrocatalysis systems have recently seen significant growth in organic transformations, but are limited by the inherent physicochemical properties of electrode materials. To enhance selectivity in these processes, we propose an innovative advancement in the rational design of photoanodes. Specifically, we incorporated cobalt porphyrin co-catalysts with confined Co sites onto bismuth vanadate films as a photoanode. This photoanode significantly enhances the efficacy of styrene epoxidation, achieving selectivity and conversion rates of 90% and 99%, respectively. Notably, the reaction utilizes water as the sole oxygen source, operates at room temperature, and is easily scalable for gram-scale synthesis. The developed photoanode demonstrates robust performance across various alkene substrates. Operando characterizations reveal that during the epoxidation reaction, the confined Co sites within the porphyrin structure catalyze the oxidation of H2O to form Co-O*, serving as critical intermediates that facilitate cyclization reactions via one-electron processes. This study introduces an innovative heterogeneous photoelectrocatalysis strategy with customizable active sites tailored for selective catalytic organic transformations.

Influence of igneous intrusion on coal and gas by means of element geochemistry and vitrinite reflectance method: a case from the Huainan coalfield, northern China

Material composition changes of coal and gas under igneous intrusion have been one of the hot research fields in global geology. In this study, through in-depth discussion of a case from Huainan coalfield, North China, some important characteristics of thermal altered coal (TAC) are expounded by using the methods of element geochemistry and vitrinite reflectance (rmax, ro, and rmin) calculation. The results show that the profile of coal reflectance/thermal metamorphic temperature (TMT) vs. distance from the intrusion indicates that the thermal aureole range reveals by the thickness of 2.4 m intrusion is approximately 3.24 m. Close to intrusion, the carbon (C-daf) of coal increases significantly, while hydrogen (H-daf) and oxygen (O-daf) decreases significantly, and the nitrogen (N-daf) change is very irregular. After acid treatment, the volatile matter (VMacid) and ash yield (Ash(acid)) losses of coal have reached 5x and 4x of the ambient zone. The atomic ratios O/C and H/C are parallel to the changes of VMacid. Based on rmax-rmin diagram, the pressure effect of TAC is analyzed. In the actual geological model, the coal is mainly subjected to the bearing stress perpendicular to the contact surface instead of the vertical gravity of the magma body, and the applicable conditions of the theoretical model are proposed. Summing up the previous calculation methods of TMT, the exponential function method can be used when the rmax is <1.0. On the contrary, the previous method can be used. The empirical formula for calculating the carbon isotope (delta(13) C-CH4) of gas by using rmax of TAC shows a negative result. The delta(13) C(CH4)of the gas near the contact is relatively positive, which proves to some extent that(13) C of the thermal residual coal and(12) CH(4)of the gas are subjected to carbon isotope fractionation. Here, the regression model between the rmax of TAC and delta(13) C(CH4)of gas in the case can be expressed as delta(13) C-CH4 = 16.777Ln(r-max)-49.859.

Shape embedding and retrieval in multi-ﬂow deformation

We propose a unified 3d ﬂow frameworkfor joint learning of shape embedding and deformationfor different categories. Our goal is to recovershapes from imperfect point clouds by fitting thebest shape template in a shape repository afterdeformation. Accordingly, we learn a shape embeddingfor template retrieval and a ﬂow-based network forrobust deformation. We note that the deformationﬂow can be quite different for different shapecategories. Therefore, we introduce a novel multi-hubmodule to learn multiple modes of deformation toincorporate such variation, providing a network whichcan handle a wide range of objects from differentcategories. The shape embedding is designed to retrievethe best-fit template as the nearest neighbor in a latentspace. We replace the standard fully connected layerwith a tiny structure in the embedding that significantlyreduces network complexity and further improvesdeformation quality. Experiments show the superiorityof our method to existing state-of-the-art methods viaqualitative and quantitative comparisons. Finally, ourmethod provides efficient and flexible deformation thatcan further be used for novel shape design.
