Influence of preoperative comprehensive education on anxiety,depression,pain,and sleep in elderly patients operated under general anesthesia

BACKGrOUNd Owing to the particularities of their physical characteristics,older patients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia experience great surgical ***,exploring more refined and individualized nursing approaches is an urgent need to mitigate the negative effects of surgery on such *** To analyze the influence of preoperative comprehensive education on anxiety,depression,pain,and sleep in older patients who underwent surgery under general *** In total,163 older adults who underwent surgery under general anesthesia between June 2022 and November 2023 were selected,77 of them received routine nursing care(control group),and 86 received preoperative comprehensive education(research group).Subsequently,comparative analyses were performed from the following perspectives:Surgical indicators(operation time,time to complete regain of consciousness,and temperature immediately after the procedure and upon recovery from anesthesia)before and after nursing care;negative emotions[self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)/self-rating depression scale(SdS)];pain severity[visual analog scale(VAS)];sleep quality[Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)];incidence of sleep disturbances(difficulties in falling asleep for the first time,falling asleep again after waking up frequently at night,falling asleep again after waking up early,and falling asleep all night);and incidence of adverse events(airway obstruction,catheter detachment,aspiration,and asphyxia).rESULTS The research group had significantly lower operation time and time to complete regain of consciousness than the control group after nursing care and markedly better recovery of postoperative body temperature and body temperature at *** addition,more notable decreases in SAS,SdS,VAS,and PSQI scores were observed in the research group than in the control ***,the incidence rate of sleep disturbance(8.14%vs 29.87%)and adverse events(4.65%vs 19.48%)were lower in the research gr

Polysaccharide edible film (PEF) plays an important role in protecting food from physical extrusion, chemical hazards and microbial invasion. In recent years, on the basis of ensuring food safety, consumers have put forward higher requirements for maintaining sensory characteristics and nutritional value of food in the process of storage and circulation. As a natural component with convenient preparation and rich sources, polysaccharides have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and other biological activities. The edible preservative film based on polysaccharide has the advantages of environmental protection, safety and no residue. Considering the health of consumers and the sustainable development of the environment, the environment-friendly, safe and effective PEF has become an important material in the field of food preservation and a creative solution to the problem of food preservation. Based on this, review focuses on the application of PEF in the preservation of different kinds of food, and briefly expounds the mechanism of PEF in the preservation of food, the production methods and different types of PEF. At the same time, it summarizes the existing problems and future development prospects and directions of PEF. After years of in-depth research and application, PEF technology has shown an important role and application potential in the field of food preservation. This paper hopes to provide reference value for the further application of PEF in the field of food preservation.

Selected addition of ternary component at specific mixing order to tune drug-carrier adhesion for enhanced lung deposition

PurposeVarious ternary components, such as lactose fines and magnesium stearate (MgSt), are frequently incorporated into carrier-based dry powder inhalations (dPIs) to enhance the fine particle fraction (FPF). However, the specific effects of a combination of lactose fines and MgSt on the performance of dPI formulations have not yet been *** salbutamol sulfate (SS), which has a weak drug-carrier adhesion, as a model drug, this study investigated the impact of lactose fines content on the powder properties and aerosolization performance of 0.5% MgSt containing dPI formulations. The influence of the mixing order of MgSt and lactose fines on dPI formulation performance was also examined. Finally, an attempt was made to predict the FPF using powder rheological *** addition of 1-10% lactose fines to 0.5% MgSt containing SS-dPI formulations significantly improved the FPF, but the addition of MgSt had a negative impact on FPF according to the mixing order of the carrier-MgSt-lactose fines-drug. The mixing order of the MgSt and lactose fines significantly affected the deposition of SS. The FPF of the formulation mixed with 5% lactose fines followed by 0.5% MgSt was significantly higher (46.55%) than that of the formulation mixed with 0.5% MgSt followed by 5% lactose fines (33.86%) and the formulation with only 5% lactose fines (39.53%). Good flowability (24.44%) and strong adhesion (75.56%) were the key factors affecting the in vitro drug deposition in this *** the development of dPIs, ternary components should be selectively added in a specific mixing order based on drug-carrier adhesion to achieve optimal lung deposition.

A Lithium dendrite Inhibitor in Graphite Anodes Enabling Fast-Charging and Low-Temperature Lithium-Ion Pouch Cells

Under harsh conditions, such as high-rate and low-temperature charging, part of Li ions cannot intercalate into the graphite (Gr) particles and will form dendrite-like Li plating, causing capacity fading and serious safety hazards in commercial lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). Herein, instead of eliminating the Li plating, a Li plating regulation strategy that transforms dead Li plating into reversible active Li plating is proposed by using a lithium dendrite inhibitor to realize safe and long-lifespan LIBs. remarkably, only 1 wt.% single-atom manganese (SAMn) in the Gr anode (Gr-SAMn) is sufficient to achieve a significant improvement, thus both the volumetric and mass-energy density remain roughly unaffected. The amount of dead Li on the Gr anode can be reduced by 90%, thereby enabling much-improved pouch cell performance at high rates and low temperatures. The capacity retention of the Gr-SAMn||NCM811 pouch cell is 86.2% (23.0% higher than that of the pristine Gr||NCM811 pouch) for 1500 cycles at 2 C, and the cell can even be cycled at 5C charge. Even cycling at -20 degrees C, the average coulombic efficiency (CE) can be improved from 97.95% to 99.94% by using SAMn additive. Hence, this promising strategy provides a novel alternative to solve the Li plating issue.

To understand the energy-saving effects of different technical measures on high-level biosafety laboratories, an energy consumption model was established and the annual operating energy consumption was simulated and verified. On this basis, the operating energy consumption was calculated and analyzed under different air changes and return air ratios. A zoning design concept for air conditioning systems was proposed based on biological risk levels, and the energy-saving effect was analyzed. The results indicate that introducing return air has a more significant energy-saving effect than reducing air changes, but a thorough risk assessment should be conducted before design.

Pumpkin seed coat pigments affected aqueous enzymatic extraction processing through interaction with its interfacial protein

In this study,the oil recovery from pumpkin seed with or without the presence of pigment was evaluated during the aqueous enzymatic extraction process(AEEP).Additionally,the interaction of pumpkin seed coat pigment-protochlorophyll(Pchl)with interfacial proteins(globulin-O/W,globulin-W,and albumin-W)during the aqueous extraction process was *** Pchl was removed from pumpkin seeds,the yield of free oil was significantly increased by 50.71%after the first *** the total oil recovery increased from 68.59%to 89.91%using enzymatic ***β-sheet percentage of globulin-O/W decreased by 5.6%with the presence of Pchl based on the circular dichroism spectra *** particle size of globulin-W and albumin-W significantly increased in contrast to globulin-O/*** addition,the increase of surface hydrophobicity and surface sulfhydryl group showed a conformational change of three protein *** spectra analyses showed that Pchl quenched the intrinsic fluorescence of globulin-W,albumin-W,and globulin-O/W in a static *** analyses indicated that the main force between Pchl and proteins was hydrophobic *** hydrolysis efficiency of Papain was reduced during demulsification in AEEP with the presence of ***,the removal of pumpkin seed coat pigments facilitated the aqueous extraction of seed oil by getting rid of the interaction of Pchl with its interfacial protein.
