Open-winding dual three-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor (DTP-PMSM) has high fault-tolerant capability because of its sufficient control degrees of freedom. This article proposes an optimization control scheme to explore the fault-tolerant capability of open-winding DTP-PMSM drives with open-phase fault in full operation range. First, the relationships between the operation states and minimum-copper-loss (ML) fault-tolerant mode and maximum-torque (MT) fault-tolerant mode are analyzed in detail. Three optimization problems are then formulated based on the objectives for each operation state, which can be effectively solved by utilizing the interior point method. Compared to the existing MT and ML schemes, the proposed scheme can achieve the theoretical highest torque output capability and lowest copper loss in full operation range. Comprehensive experimental results are presented to substantiate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed fault-tolerant optimization control scheme.

Evaluation of thrombospondin 1 as a novel biomarker in pediatric-onset systemic lupus erythematosus

Objective This study aimed to assess the potential of thrombospondin 1 (TBS-1) as a biomarker for pediatric-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (pSLE) and investigated its association with clinical characteristics and other laboratory tests in pSLE. Methods A total of 112 pSLE and 50 age-matched and gender-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited in this study from January 2022 to June 2023 at West China Second University Hospital, sichuan university. Plasma TBS-1 levels were measured, and clinical and laboratory findings were collected from the medical database. Results The plasma TBS-1 level was significantly lower in pSLE patients (26778 ng/mL, IQR: 9875-59011) compared to HCs (100583 ng/mL, IQR: 58327-189547) (P < 0.0001). ROC analysis demonstrated that TBS-1 could effectively differentiate pSLE patients and HCs (AUC: 0.845, 95%CI: 0.785-0.905, P < 0.0001) with an optimal cut-off was 49,937 ng/mL, yielding a sensitivity of 84% and specificity of 70.5% based on the Youden index. Compared to TBS-1 positive patients, TBS-1 negative patients exhibited significant reductions in hemoglobin, IgM, and fibrinogen levels. Conclusion In light of the current data, the efficacy of TBS-1 as a biomarker in pSLE diverged from its performance in adult SLE. In summary, TBS-1 shows potential as a biomarker for pSLE, particularly in hematological manifestations. Further investigations are essential to delve into the immunomodulatory roles of TBS-1 in the autoimmune pathways of pSLE.

Non-healthcare system interventions and COVID-19 daily cases: a multilevel time series analysis

BackgroundThe global COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted public health and socio-economic development worldwide. This study aims to investigate the effects of non-healthcare system interventions on the daily new cases of COVID-19 from January 2020 to October *** the aid of multilevel approach, we identified income group, region and country as stratification factors that affect the number of COVID-19 daily new cases. Data on COVID-19 cases collected by Johns Hopkins University were used, and policy implementation details were recorded through the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker dataset. To analyze the effects of national, regional, and income group factors on the number of daily new COVID-19 cases, we implemented three multilevel sequential mixed-effects models and applied restricted maximum likelihood to estimate the variance of random *** results indicate a correlation between income group and the rise in intercepts of random effects in the multilevel sequential mixed-effects models. High-income countries recorded the highest intercept at 713.26, while low-income countries showed the lowest at -313.79. Under the influence of policies, the implementation of "Canceling public events" and "International travel restrictions" has been shown to significantly reduce the daily number of new COVID-19 cases. In contrast, "Restrictions on gatherings" appear to have the opposite effect, potentially leading to an increase in daily new COVID-19 *** designing epidemic control policies, due consideration should be given to factors such as income group, as well as medical, demographic, and social differences among nations influenced by economic factors. In policy-making, policymakers should pay greater attention to policy implementation and people's responses, in order to maximize the effectiveness and adherence of such policies.

BackgroundRecently Lisfranc fractures have increased due to increased high-energy injuries from various causes. However, due to incomplete traditional classification, the pattern and distribution of fractures cannot be analyzed in three dimensions. This study examines a novel fracture pattern based on the fracture line and heat map for Lisfranc *** retrospectively analyzed data from CT scans of 157 patients diagnosed with Lisfranc injuries. We extracted the CT data of a healthy adult and created a standard foot model. We performed 3D reconstruction using patients' CT images and superimposed the fracture model onto the standard model for drawing fracture lines. Subsequently, we converted the fracture lines into a heat map for *** novel classification identifies high-density fracture sites within the tarsometatarsal joint, predominantly localized in the medial and lateral columns. The fracture lines not involving the TMT joint are mainly located in the medial aspect of the first metatarsal trunk and the fifth metatarsal trunk. Additionally, we develop an assessment protocol for Lisfranc injury that incorporates ligament injury, displacement, and *** new classification accurately identifies the different types of fractures in Lisfranc injuries, enabling clinicians to more fully and accurately understand their patients' injuries and assisting them in efficiently making sound decisions to avoid diagnostic delays that can negatively impact postoperative outcomes.

Barriers and Enablers in the Implementation of Physical Activity Improvement for Pregnant Women With Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: A Mixed-Methods Study

AimTo identify the barriers and enablers in the implementation of evidence-based physical activity (PA) programmes for the improvement of health outcomes among pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and to develop strategies for implementing this evidence in clinical *** convergent mixed-methods study was conducted, integrating a descriptive qualitative research design with a cross-sectional survey. In-depth interview was used to collect the views and cognitions about physical activity from medical staff, leaders and pregnant women. The qualitative data was analysed using directed content analysis, guided by the Ottaw Model of Research Use (OMRU). A self-designed questionnaire, which was based on the current best evidence for physical activity during pregnancy, was administered to gather data regarding nurse' knowledge of physical activity (PA safety, managing blood glucose with PA, etc.), their management practice (timing of assessments, provision of information, etc.), as well as the knowledge levels of physical activity among pregnant women with GDM (principles of exercise, PA precautions, etc.).ResultsA total of 12 medical staff members and 14 pregnant women were interviewed. Ten nurses and 102 pregnant women with GDM completed the questionnaire. We generated 12 subthemes organised within three themes of the OMRU from the data, including insufficient professional autonomy, positive attitudes towards evidence implementation, shortage of nursing staff, implementation climate, etc. The average knowledge score of physical activity among nurses and pregnant women was 5 (SD 2.36) points and 5.2 (SD 1.70) points, respectively. Adaptive T-S Fuzzy Control for an Unknown Structure System With a Self-Adjusting Control Accuracy

Adaptive Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy control was a real-time control method without off-line input and output data, but the approximate error between this T-S fuzzy model and the actual system model was rarely considered in the existing methods. This problem can lead to the degradation of controller accuracy in practical engineering. In order to solve this problem, the mathematical expression of the upper bound for the approximate error between adaptive T-S fuzzy logic system and the actual system was derived for the first time under any number of rules. This achievement was the key to the design of robust fuzzy controller based on Lyapunov synthesis method under finite number of rules, and this controller can achieve predictability of accuracy. Compared with existing T-S fuzzy control methods, the proposed method can realize the self-adjusting accuracy control for the unknown-structure system without the off-line input and output data. The unknown non-affine control system simulation and 3-DOF robotic arm experiment were carried out to verify the effectiveness of proposed method. Note to Practitioners-Due to the wide application of T-S fuzzy model in practice control system, such as the robot control, the unmanned vehicle control and so on, the actual control accuracy of T-S fuzzy controller was concerned by many scholars. However, the actual precision degradation of the controller was a difficult problem in on-line T-S fuzzy control. In order to solve this problem, a novel adaptive T-S fuzzy control method was proposed in this paper. In practical application, T-S fuzzy model often had a large approximate error with the actual model because of structure uncertainty, and this approximate error was the key factor affecting the actual accuracy of T-S fuzzy controller. BackgroundBased on the present global burden of oral diseases, unmet dental needs affect a more significant population worldwide. It is characterized by the need for dental care but receiving delayed or no care. Contributing factors include a lack of knowledge about oral health, its consequences, and the availability of dental services. We need to find out the scale of the problem of unmet dental needs of Chinese male adults. Therefore, the aim was to determine the relationship between the presence of oral conditions and the quality of life-related to oral *** total of 46,439 Chinese male adults were recruited to the study between August 2022 and October 2023. The questionnaire was administered using standard procedures. This questionnaire sought to gather various types of information, including basic demographic details, oral health status, and specific oral care needs. To gain insight into the frequency and types of oral conditions in our study population, a thorough clinical oral examination was performed. For data interpretation and evaluation, descriptive statistics and Chi square tests were utilized, with a significant level of 5%.ResultsThe study results indicated that one of the most prevalent oral conditions was oral surface calculus, which was noted in 22,263 (47.94%) participants. The rate of bleeding gums was 6289 (13.54%), with a range of oral diseases such as dental ulcer (1488;3.2%), trauma (1342;2.89%), gingivitis (814;1.75%), pericoronitis (786;1.69%), and cheilitis (527;1.13%). The study population reported a 22.41% prevalence of dental caries, with an additional 15.59% of participants having untreated caries. A significant portion of participants (54.62%) expressed a strong need for oral healthcare treatment, with 79.11% self-reporting their need for regular checkups. Expression and significance of cytokines in peripheral blood and bone microenvironment in Kummell's disease, osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures and nonosteoporotic patients

Objective To analyze the expression and determine the significance of cytokines in peripheral blood and vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment of patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) and Kummell's disease (KD). Methods From October 2022 to April 2023, 16 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF), 14 patients with Kummell (KD) disease, and 19 patients with lumbar degenerative disease were included in the study. The patients were divided into the OVCF group, KD group and control group. The levels of interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) in peripheral blood and vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to determine the correlation between cytokines and the occurrence of OVCF and KD. Results The levels of IL-1, IL-6, TGF-beta and TNF-alpha in vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment of the KD group were significantly higher than those in peripheral blood (p = 0.001, p < 0.001, p = 0.017, p < 0.001). Compared with the control group, the OVCF displayed a marked increase in the expression of IL-1, IL-6, and TNF-alpha and a significant reduction in the expression of TGF-beta (p < 0.001). In addition, compared with the vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment of the control group, the levels of IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-alpha in the vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment of the KD group were significantly increased (p < 0.001). and compared with the vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment of OVCF group, the levels of IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-alpha in the vertebral blood in the bone microenvironment of the KD group were significantly increased (p = 0.014, p = 0.020, p = 0.006). Quantitative analysis of pressure levels in manual lymphatic drainage across stages of breast cancer-related lymphedema: implications for optimized treatment protocols

ObjectiveTo quantify the pressure levels necessary for effective Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) in managing Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema (BCRL) across various stages, and to contribute to the development of standardized protocols for MLD therapy. MethodsThe study included 42 patients with BCRL (Stages I-III) and 14 certified lymphedema therapists. Forearms and upper arm circumferences were measured pre and post a 21-day MLD intervention. A tactile sensor system recorded the applied pressure during treatment. The data were preprocessed and statistically analyzed to assess pressure patterns and their stage-specific impacts on lymphedema. ResultsThe mean age of the patients was 52.4 years, and that of the therapists was 39.1 years. A statistically significant reduction in arm circumference was observed post-MLD treatment (P < 0.05). The pressure applied varied across stages: I (forearm) 16.5-20.1 mmHg, I (upper arm) 16.1-20.7 mmHg;II (forearm) 16.6-19.8 mmHg, II (upper arm) 19.7-23.8 mmHg;III (forearm) 29.3-34.3 mmHg, III (upper arm) 29.7-34.3 mmHg. No statistically significant difference was found between forearm and upper arm treatment pressures within Stages I (P = 0.283) and III (P = 0.08), while Stage II exhibited a significant difference (P < 0.001). Across the same treatment area, pressures for Stages I and II in the forearm were significantly lower than those in Stage III (P < 0.001). The treatment pressure differences between forearm stages I and II were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Differences in upper arm treatment pressures across Stages I, II, and III were also statistically significant (P < 0.001). DiscussionThe study provides quantitative evidence on the pressure ranges needed for MLD across different stages of BCRL. It highlights the importance for stage-specific pressure adjustments to optimize treatment outcomes. Isotope Dilution DNA Logic Circuits for Multiple Output and Absolute Quantification

DNA logic circuits have gained great success in the past, thanks to their distinct performance regarding the scalability and correctness of computation. However, there are still two challenges often considered for DNA logic circuit-based computation. First, the mainstream optical probes are often subject to spectral overlapping interference for complex multitask analysis and outputs. Second, absolute quantification results traceable to the primary international system of units are mission impossible, especially for interlaboratory comparisons and quality assurances. Herein, we constructed DNA logic circuits encoded with lanthanide isotopes and decoded by elemental mass spectrometry. The 155Gd-enriched isotope and 145Nd-enriched isotope were incorporated in the DNA logic circuits for the isotope dilution-based absolute quantification of microRNAs. The proposed isotopic DNA logic circuits greatly enhance the multiplexity and computation accuracy, which poses a great potential for cancer biomarker-related diagnosis.
