This study aims to characterize anddiscriminate rhus chinensis Mill. honeys from different geographical origins based on their physicochemical parameters, mineral elements, volatile compounds, and antioxidant activities. rhus chinensis Mill. honey samples were collected from fourdifferent geographical origins for analysis. The results demonstrated statistical differences in nine physicochemical parameters, nine mineral elements, 12 volatile compounds, total phenolic content (TPC), and antioxidant activities of rhus chinensis Mill. honey from different origins. The principal component analysis (PCA) biplot andpartial least squares-discriminate analysis (PLS-dA) plot constructed with 35 statistically different variables demonstrated that different origins of rhus chinensis Mill. honey could be effectively discriminated, among which 14 variables had variable importance in projection (VIP) > 1. These variables could serve as potential markers to discriminate rhus chinensis Mill. honey from different origins. Our findings improve the understanding of rhus chinensis Mill. honey and can facilitate the tracing of its origin.

The challenge in fine-grained visual categorization (FGVC) lies in how to explore the subtle differences between different subclasses and achieve accurate discrimination. Previous research has relied on large-scale annotateddata and pre-traineddeep models to achieve the objective. However, when only a limited amount of samples is available, similar methods often struggle to accurately learn the details of instances and perform effective recognition. Using diffusion models fordata augmentation has gained widespread attention, but the high level of detail required for fine-grained images makes it challenging for existing methods to be directly employed. To address this issue, we propose a novel approach termed the detail reinforcement diffusion model (drdM), which leverages the extensive knowledge of large models for fine-graineddata augmentation and comprises two key components including discriminative semantic recombination (dSr) and spatial knowledge reference (SKr). Specifically, dSr is designed to extract implicit similarity relationships from the labels andreconstruct the semantic mapping between labels and instances, which enables betterdiscrimination of subtle differences between different subclasses. Furthermore, we introduce the SKr module, which incorporates the distributions of different datasets as references in the feature space. This allows the SKr to aggregate the high-dimensional distribution of subclass features in few-shot FGVC tasks, thus expanding the decision boundary. Through these two critical components, we effectively utilize the knowledge from large models to address the issue of data scarcity, resulting in improved performance for fine-grained visual recognition tasks. Extensive experiments demonstrate the consistent performance gain offered by ourdrdM.

The usage of smartphones holds paramount importance in enhancing the ability of elderly people to live independently. This research aims to explore the various scenarios in which Chinese elderly people employ smartphones for information input, and how input method and Chinese character complexity affect their information input process. To achieve this, we conducted semi-structured interviews to investigate typical situations where Chinese elderly individuals use smartphones to input information. Based on the survey results, we devised an experiment to assess the impact of the input method and Chinese character complexity on the elderly's objective physical load, mental load, input performance, and subjective experience during the inputting process. The findings revealed that the choice of input method significantly affects the objective physical load. distinct input method engageddifferent major muscle groups during the process. As the Chinese character complexity increased, the elderly's input performance declined, with handwriting input being particularly affected. Thus, we proposed enhancing the current handwriting interface by allowing users to input complex Chinese characters through handwritten pinyin, and simplify the start steps of the handwriting function based on the pinyin input interface. This study contributes to the development of evidence-based guidelines for the aging design of smart mobile devices, thus enhancing the elderly's overall experience in using such technology.

An efficient and highly selective aerobic oxidation of p-methoxybenzyl ethers to aldehydes or ketones with Fe(NO3)3 & sdot;9H2O and TEMPO as catalysts at 25 degrees C has been developed. This method is compatible with versatile functional groups: adamantyl, ether, alkynyl, and alkenyl, etc. due to the mild nature of the reaction conditions, even the highly sensitive optically active aldehydes with an easily racemized alpha-chiral center could be formed from optically active PMB ethers without racemization. Other protecting groups of hydroxyl group remained intact during the current aerobic oxidation. The catalytic protocol has been successfully applied to synthesis of (r)-tert-butyldimethylsilyl hept-1-en-6-yn-4-yl ether, which is the key intermediate for the total synthesis of natural product, (-)-6-O-methylcitreoisocoumarin.
