Optimized short-term wind power forecasting based on a combination feature selection and greater cane rat algorithm

With the swift advancements in renewable energy, wind power as an important clean energy has been paid more and more attention. Due to the intermittency and volatility of wind energy, accurate wind power forecasting has become crucial for improving the stability of grid integration. This paper employs a combination of maximal information coefficient (MIC) and SelectKBest methods for feature selection, along with a greater cane rat algorithm (GCRA) to tune the hyperparameters of long short-term memory (LSTM), establishing the MIC-KBest-GCRA-LSTM model. This model not only overcomes the limitations of traditional feature selection methods, which consider only the correlations among features or the correlations between features and the target variable, but also proposes an optimization method with stronger global search capabilities for optimization problems that simultaneously involve continuous and discrete hyperparameters. To confirm the proposed model's effectiveness, six control models are set up, and their prediction results are compared. The results show that the proposed MIC-KBest-GCRA-LSTM model reduces the root mean square error (RMSE) by 32.4% compared to the baseline LSTM method. Additionally, the prediction accuracy of this model has significantly improved compared to the other five models.

Experimental investigations and micromechanical thermal fatigue models of concrete

The vast changes in temperature are what produce thermal fatigue damage to concrete. In this study, concrete specimens in three different categories-C20, C40, and C60-are tested for thermal fatigue at temperatures ranging from 10 degrees C to 80 degrees C in an atmosphere with constant relative humidity. Utilizing ultrasonic nondestructive testing, the elastic modulus of concrete is determined. After thermal cycling, the mass reduction and appearance of samples are also recorded. The results demonstrate that the degrading effects of thermal fatigue clearly influence concrete. As the thermal cycle lengthens, the elastic modulus of concrete rapidly decreases, and C60 concrete experiences a greater reduction in elastic modulus than C20 concrete. With thermal cycles, the damage factor increases and the ultrasonic wave velocity steadily decreases, suggesting a propagation of the concrete's interior microcracks. Additionally, the micromechanical thermal fatigue model is developed based on the experimental results. The ability to simulate and describe the physical behavior of concrete under thermal fatigue stress on the microscale is validated by the proposed micromechanical damage model.

Preparation of bovine liver peptide-flavonoids binary complexes by free radical grafting: Rheological properties, functional effects and spectroscopic studies

Free radical grafting is a green and fast method for modification of proteins and bioactive peptides. In this study, different flavonoids with flavonol, flavonoid glycoside and flavan-3-ol structures, such as quercetin (QC), rutin (RUT), and catechin (C), which are commonly used in food applications, were used as the research objects, and the binary systems of bioactive bovine liver peptides complexed with the flavonoids were prepared by free radical grafting method. The findings indicated that the affinity of catechin for bovine liver peptides markedly exceeded that of both quercetin and rutin. This observation was consistent with the extent of reduction in the content of free amino. The emulsion system formed using the binary complex was homogeneous and dense under optical microscopy, with reduced droplet diameters and significantly improved interfacial properties such as shear resistance. The combination of bovine liver peptides and flavonoids can be regarded as an effective means of modification.

Microorganisms play dual roles in soil organic carbon (SOC) decomposition and accumulation. Despite advancing insights into their involvement in the carbon cycle, understanding the impact of microbial community structure and physiological traits on SOC stabilization in arid and semi-arid grasslands remains elusive. Here, we analyzed arid and semi-arid grasslands SOC stability by comparing the ratio of mineral-associated organic carbon (MAOC) to particulate organic carbon (POC) across a grassland transect in north-south ningxia, encompassing various grassland types and a broad climatic gradient (Delta MAP = 450 mm). By combining phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) analysis, enzyme activity vector models and stoichiometric theory, the influence of soil microbial community compositions, metabolic constraints, and carbon use efficiency (CUE) on SOC stability were explored. Results showed that SOC stability was the lowest in desert areas and decreased with increasing mean annual precipitation (MAP) in other grasslands. Microbial physiological traits, including microbial carbon (C) limitation, nitrogen (N) limitation, CUE, and lignocellulose index (LCI) varied among grasslands, with significantly higher LCI and CUE and lower C and N limitation in steppe desert. The variation of microbial physiological characteristics accounted for 53.28% of the variation in SOC stability. Distinct microbial metabolic limitations were evident in these grasslands, with N and C limitation prevailing and exerting strong negative impacts on CUE. Decreased fungal/bacterial (F/B) ratios also reduced microbial CUE and indirectly diminished SOC stability. In addition, clay content emerges as a major factor influencing the stabilization of SOC across environmental gradients. Collectively, our work suggests that mitigating microbial C and N limitation and enhancing microbial CUE under the influence of MAP and clay content are the key mechanisms governing SOC stabilization in regional grasslands. Neural Network-Based Safety Analysis of Driving Behavior in Desert Areas

In order to explore the influence of sand accumulation road surface on traffic safety under wind and sand environment. This paper relies on the desert environment real-vehicle test to study the correlation between drivers' EEG data and driving behavior under different road alignments and different sand thicknesses, constructs behavioral spectra, uses K-means to classify dangerous driving behaviors into four grades, and applies MATLAB software to construct the BP and RBF neural network recognition model. The study shows that 1) driver's EEG delta and beta wave PSD integral values are positively correlated with the thickness of sand on the road and the complexity of the road alignment;2) drivers tend to change the speed to reduce the driving risk when there is no sand accumulation to 0-2mm and the flat straight road to the flat curved road, and drivers tend to change the driving direction to avoid the dangerous driving environment and reduce the driving risk when there is a combination of road sand thickness of 4-6mm and curved and sloped road;3) spectrum of risky driving behavior characteristics is mainly distributed in the (0, 0.2] interval, and the risk of serious driving increases significantly in the alpha / beta =0.81 and alpha/beta =0.89 states, which account for 2.16 times and 5.28 times more than the alpha/ beta =1.01 state, respectively. The results of the study can provide a basis for driving safety and security in desert areas, and reduce the rate of traffic accidents in desert areas to a certain extent.

Study on progressive collapse mechanism of RC frame structures corroded by chloride

An excessive failure mechanism describes the progressive collapse of reinforced concrete (RC) structures, where localized initial damage from abnormal loading cases can lead to either the collapse of a significant component or the entire structure. RC structures in coastal or saline environments face long-term degradation due to environmental corrosive agents, with steel corrosion, which is induced by chloride ingress being a major cause. This study investigates the effect of full-beam corrosion on the progressive collapse behavior of RC frame structures. Therefore, quasi-static loading tests were carried out to examine two 1/3-scale RC substructure specimens. For comparison purposes, one specimen serves as a control specimen and another specimen has been exposed to corrosion treatment using electrochemical methods. The results indicated that the structure's resistance mechanism remained unchanged after steel corrosion, but the corroded structure entered the catenary action mechanism earlier. Corrosion weakens the enhancement effects of compression arching and catenary action on the structural resistance, and the yield load, first peak load, and ultimate load of the specimen have all decreased by 4.8 %, 3.2 %, and 43.8 %, respectively. Based on the quasi-static test results, dynamic responses of the two types of specimens were obtained, and collapse resistance assessments were conducted, specimen F14-0 still retained 11 % residual capacity against collapse, while the corroded specimen recorded 6.2 % only, a decrease of nearly 44 %.

Experimental studies on fluctuation properties of dust, turbulence and electric field during floating dust weather in Lanzhou

In this paper, real-time measurements of three-dimensional wind speed, electric field and dust concentration during the floating-dust event were carried out in Lanzhou. The scaling relationship of different physical quantities in spectral space and the effect of turbulent events on dust and heat transport are studied by spectral method and octant analysis method. Our results show that the logarithmic value of power spectrum of dust concentration, relative humidity (RH), streamwise and vertical wind speed (u and w) between 0.06 Hz and 0.435 Hz meets the linear relationship with the logarithmic value of frequency (f), and decreases with the logarithmic value of f. For different stages, in the frequency range from 0.06 Hz to 0.218 Hz, the slope of the u first increases and then decreases. The slope of dust concentration and RH did not change significantly in the development stage, but decreased in the decay stage. The slope of the temperature (T) first decreases and then increases. In the frequency range from 0.218 Hz to 0.435 Hz, the slope of u and RH first increase and then decrease. The slope of the dust concentration does not change significantly during the development stage and decreases in the decay stage. The slope of w first increases and then decreases. In the second stage, the contribution of ejection and sweep events to the turbulent motion increases. For dust and heat transport, the O5 and O8 have a larger number contribution. Although the number and intensity contribution ratio of all octants increased or decreased in the second and third stages, in terms of the intensity of a single event, the contribution of all octants to the dust and heat transport increased.

Provenance analysis signposts for sedimentary uranium exploration in aeolian sandstone systems: Insights from the Luohe Formation, Western Ordos Basin

The Lower Cretaceous Luohe Formation in the western Ordos Basin, North China, represents a rare aeolian sedimentary system with distinctive "uranium-bearing" characteristics. Sedimentary source of the uraniumbearing sandstones in this formation, which is crucial for advancing uranium exploration efforts, remains ambiguous. This study undertakes a comprehensive investigation encompassing petrology, geochemistry, and detrital zircon systematics (including zircon U-Pb ages, trace elements, and Hf isotopes) on the aeolian sandstones of the Luohe Formation within the western Ordos Basin. The objective is to provide crucial insights into conventional exploration for sedimentary uranium resources within aeolian sedimentary systems in intracontinental basins. Detrital zircon ages are categorized into a predominant age grouping within the Phanerozoic era (210-450 Ma), with notable peaks observed at 260 Ma and 420 Ma. Additionally, two minor age clusters are identified in the Early Paleoproterozoic (2240-2600 Ma), notably peaking at 2460 Ma, and the Late Paleoproterozoic (1600-2150 Ma), with a peak observed at 1850 Ma. Integrating the geochemical discrimination diagrams, it is suggested that the Alxa Block to the west of the Ordos Basin serves as the main provenance supplier of the hard detrital zircons. The uranium-bearing debris from the Alxa Block underwent sedimentary recycling and, therefore, were transported to the paleouplifts that formed on the western Ordos Basin during the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous. The paleoclimatic conditions characterized by prolonged arid periods interspersed with brief humid and warm episodes are crucial for the unique "uranium-bearing" nature of the sandstones. The sedimentary environment, dominated by aeolian deposition with localized fluvial deposition at basin-mountain interfaces, is identified as an ideal setting for uranium storage within aeolian sedimentary systems. Relationships between orofacial pain and sleep: Analysis of UK biobank and genome-wide association studies data

Background/purpose: Orofacial pain is common in dental practices. This study aimed to explore relationships between orofacial pain and sleep using the UK Biobank dataset and, based on epidemiological associations, to investigate the causal association using genome-wide association studies data. Materials and methods: First, a cross-sectional study was conducted with 196,490 participants from UK Biobank. Information on pain conditions and sleep traits was collected. Multivariable models were used to explore the relationships with odds ratio (OR). Second, Mendelian randomization analyses were conducted using data for orofacial pain, including temporomandibular joint disorders-related pain (n = 377,277) and atypical facial pain (n = 331,749), and sleep traits, including sleep duration (n = 446,118), short sleep (n = 411,934), long sleep (n = 339,926), snoring (n = 359,916), ease of getting up (n = 385,949), insomnia (n = 453,379), daytime dozing (n = 452,071), daytime napping (n = 452,633), and chronotype (n = 403,195). Results: The cross-sectional study confirmed the bidirectionality between pain and sleep. Participants experiencing pain all over the body showed a significant association with an unhealthy sleep pattern (OR = 1.18, P <0.001) and other sleep traits (P < 0.05). Risks of chronic orofacial pain were associated with sleep duration in a non-linear relationship (P = 0.032). The Mendelian randomization analyses indicated that long sleep was causally associated with temporomandibular joint disorders-related pain (OR = 6.77, P = 0.006).
