In this paper, we proposed a nonlinear subdivision scheme based on tangent vector, with the purpose of offsetting the deficiencies of Dyn's 4-point method and other classical linear subdivision schemes in the control of shape of subdivision curves. This method has a clear geometric meaning and the property of convexity preserving. Theoretical analysis show that the limit curve of this method is G1 continuous without self-intersection. Several examples are given to show the effectiveness of the scheme.

In this paper, we develop a feature measure method of the chess object from a chess image and identify the chess by using the features. Features are generated by calculating the distance between the contour of the character and the center of the chess object. We compare the features of input chess image with the standard database chess image to obtain a corrected chess identification results. There are two advantages compare with other methods: 1) Our method is robust from the 40 incline degree test. 2) Our method can resist the 20% pepper and salt noise attacks. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, simulations under all kinds of various conditions were conducted. The experimental results show that our proposed scheme can exactly identify chess images 100% of the time.

Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi diagram are widely used in computer graphics, computational geometry and other fields. Different from the planar case, Delaunay triangulation of a point set on smooth 2-manifolds does not always exist. In this paper we propose a new sampling requirement combining the maximal curvature, injectivity radius and convexity radius to guarantee the existence of Delaunay triangulation on 2-manifolds. After introducing the primal/dual efficient representation (PDER) structure [26], we develop a generalized PDER which not only represents Delaunay/Voronoi dual simply and efficiently, but also describes the surfaces with boundaries. Taking advantage of several operators for modeling and updating models, we employ generalized PDER to construct and operate Delaunay/Voronoi dual dynamically on smooth 2-manifolds. The generalized PDER is also a powerful tool for dual subdivision schemes. Many examples demonstrate the feasibility of our method and the generalized PDER.

In this paper we propose a novel spherical parameterization for closed, genus-0, two-manifold, 3D triangular meshes. The key point of our method concerns the Gaussian curvature criterion involved, which makes it possible to detect iteratively salient mesh vertices and to locally flatten them, until a sphere-like surface, adapted to a direct spherical parameterization is obtained. The experimental evaluation, carried out on a set of 3D models of various shapes and complexities, shows that the proposed method makes it possible to reduce both angle and area distortions with more than 78% and 40% respectively.

HDR imaging is becoming increasingly popular in several areas, but most of current photography is still captured with single exposures and most of the display devices commercially available nowadays are not able to display HDR content. To capture/display single exposure image is easier than capture/display HDR image, why we capture HDR images laborious and display them on typical device? Is tone mapped image better than single exposure image? In this paper, we evaluate an experiment to compare HDR tone mapped images and single exposure images, the results shows that they have no large difference to observers.

People detection is an important task for a wide range of applications in computer vision. State-of-the-art methods learn appearance based models requiring tedious collection and annotation of large data corpora. Also, obtaining data sets representing all relevant variations with sufficient accuracy for the intended application domain at hand is often a non-trivial task. Therefore this paper investigates how 3D shape models from computer graphics can be leveraged to ease training data generation. In particular we employ a rendering-based reshaping method in order to generate thousands of synthetic training samples from only a few persons and views. We evaluate our data generation method for two different people detection models. Our experiments on a challenging multi-view dataset indicate that the data from as few as eleven persons suffices to achieve good performance. When we additionally combine our synthetic training samples with real data we even outperform existing state-of-the-art methods.
