We developed a system specifically designed to help nonqualified dance instructors teach dance using motion capture. The goal is to allow dancers to easily self-evaluate their own performances by comparing it to a standard example. We began by measuring dance students using motion capture and developing animations based on the collected data. We then assessed the effect of having students use the animations to practice the dance and examined the effect on the students' collaborative learning. Our results indicate that the technology is easy to use and effective.

The computer Graphic Center (ZGDV) has realized a training and education program in cooperation with partners from Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom and Federal Republic of Germany in different application areas based on techniques of computer graphics. After the successful introduction of computers even in small companies and education institutions, there is still a lack on the use of this technology which hinders greater productivity: adequate education and training resources using the appropriate methods and strategies are missing. This is valid for academic areas as well as for industrial areas. In the future this task must be covered by public, private and industrial institutions. The COMETT project is a milestone in this direction. The main task is aimed at supporting the teacher and the student with hardware and software tools for a CAD training environment.

This paper describes the results of an attempt to outline a computer graphic system that permits the generation and spatial transformations of polyhedric solids. This system was created to provide a simulator with enough visual resources to clearly represent the dynamical behavior of a robot mechanical system submitted to some control procedures. It has been adapted to a system with limited graphical resources. Considerations of other applications for this graphical feature are also outlined.

Rapid prototyping has been called "real virtuality" to emphasize its transformation of virtual objects from cyberspace into real objects. It also goes by "3D printing" to highlight the direct realization of a 3D object from an abstract graphics design, in contrast to the more usual 2D plotting of views. "Free-form fabrication" and "tool-less manufacturing" are commonly used descriptive terms. "Desktop manufacturing" and "3D hard copy" are seen in the lay press. Other variants include RPM for "rapid prototyping in manufacturing" and LMT for "layered manufacturing technologies." Whatever the name, the evolving use of RP technologies like stereolithography and selective laser sintering to quickly produce parts directly from a CAD surface or solid model is an innovative application area for computer graphics. From a designer's abstract computer model, these technologies now make it routinely possible to fabricate a 3D solid part in a matter of hours or days, rather than the weeks or months conventional production methods can take.

The computer graphics Interface (CGI) is introduced and analysed with respect to the current needs of device manufacturers, systems designers, and users. Discussion includes topics such as the progress of CGI development, the features of the CGI, and the CGI's fundamental goals. Emphasis is placed on how well the CGI relates to ‘real world’ application environments. To determine the suitability of the CGI to such environments, the relationship between current graphics standards and the CGI is explored and innovative features described. Finally, the analysis outlines relationships between the CGI and application environments, and addresses the need for additional functionality to support today's application requirements completely.

The authors present in their paper the possibilities of the application of computer graphics and compute animation for visualisation of the electric heart field (EHF). They describe the construction of three-dimensional potential maps by the methods of interpolation, perspective projection, hidden line elimination and text generation. They also present a method for making of animation films showing the electric activity of the heart by using 80 three-dimensional potential maps recorded at different intervals over the entire cardiac cycle.
