Nowadays, virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a successful new therapeutic strategy in a variety of sectors of the health profession, including rehabilitation, the promotion of inpatients' emotional wellness, diagnostics, surgeon training and mental health therapy. This study develops a new model VRAPMG for children with ASD with the following steps that consider 3D gaming. In this work, the face image is considered to evaluate the attention of the children. In the data acquisition, the input face image is converted into a noncoloured image called a greyscale image. The preprocessing phase is carried out with a median filter and Viola-Jones (VJ) algorithm-based face detection is carried out. Then, the improved active shape model (ASM), shape local binary texture (SLBT) and eye position localization-based features are extracted. In the detection phase, DMO and Bi-GRU models are combined to form the hybrid classification model. Then, improved SLF is done, and the output is detected. Depending on the detected emotions, it is determined whether the children are attentive or not via entropy-based attention prediction.

virtual reality (VR) technology has emerged as a ground-breaking tool in neuroscience, revolutionizing our understanding of neuroplasticity and its implications for neurological rehabilitation. By immersing individuals in simulated environments, VR induces profound neurobiological transformations, affecting neuronal connectivity, sensory feedback mechanisms, motor learning processes, and cognitive functions. Aim: To compare the effectiveness of the virtual reality (VR) Simulation Program and the Standardized Patient (SP) Simulation Program in chemotherapy education for breast cancer patients among undergraduate nursing students, focusing on knowledge, cognitive load, satisfaction and self-confidence levels. Background: Effective chemotherapy education is critical for nursing students to develop the competencies to manage treatment side effects and support patient adherence, especially in breast cancer care. Simulation-based learning methods, such as the VR Simulation Program and the SP Simulation Program, offer innovative approaches to enhance nursing education;however, their comparative effectiveness remains uncertain. Methods: This two-group quasi-experimental study was conducted with 107 first-year nursing students at a university in Turkey. Participants were randomly assigned to the VR Simulation Program (n = 54) or the SP Simulation Program (n = 53). Data were collected using a semi-structured questionnaire, Chemotherapy Knowledge Assessment Test, Cognitive Load Scale and Student Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale. Data analysis was conducted using t-tests. Results: Both the VR Simulation Program (t = -4.30, p < 0.001) and the SP Simulation Program (t = -7.48, p < 0.001) significantly improved students' knowledge. However, the SP Simulation Program group scored higher in knowledge (t = -2.891, p = 0.005), cognitive load (t = -2.891, p = 0.005), satisfaction (t = -3.176, p = 0.002) and self-confidence (t = -2.971, p = 0.004). Conclusions: Despite imposing a higher cognitive load, the SP Simulation Program was more effective than the VR Simulation Program in enhancing nursing students' knowledge, satisfaction and self-confidence in chemotherapy education. These findings highlight the need for carefully planned educational strategies to manage cognitive demands and optimize learning outcomes in nursing education.

Background: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a virtual reality (VR) high-intensity interval training (HIIT) boxing protocol compared to traditional high-intensity circuit training (HICT) in improving exercise motivation, engagement, and physiological responses among 30 healthy medical students. Objective: The purpose was to compare the VR HIIT protocol, which involved using an Oculus Quest 2 for a futuristic exoskeleton game experience, with a traditional 12-exercise HICT. Methods: In total, 30 medical students engaged in both VR HIIT, using an Oculus Quest 2 for a futuristic exoskeleton game experience, and a traditional 12-exercise HICT. Metrics included heart rate (HR) and blood lactate levels before and after exercise alongside ratings of perceived exertion and the Situational Motivation Scale. Results: VR HIIT showed significantly higher mean HR (mean 161, SD 15 vs mean 144, SD 11 bpm;d =1.5;P <.001), peak HR (mean 182, SD 15 vs mean 176, SD 11 bpm;d =0.8;P =.001), and ratings of perceived exertion (mean 16, SD 2 vs mean 15, SD 2;d =0.4;P =.03). Postexercise lactate levels were higher in HICT (mean 8.8, SD 4.5 vs mean 10.6, SD 3.0 mmol/L;d =0.6;P =.006). Intrinsic motivation and other psychological measures showed no significant differences, except for lower fatigue in HICT (d=0.5;P =.02). Conclusions: VR HIIT significantly enhances physiological parameters while maintaining intrinsic motivation, making it a viable alternative to traditional HICT. However, the short-term nature of this study is a limitation, and future research should explore the long-term engagement and therapeutic impacts of VR exercise in diverse and clinical populations.

Backgroundvirtual reality (VR) is increasingly used in healthcare education, offering immersive training experiences that are as effective as conventional methods, with benefits like cost-effectiveness, replicating complex scenarios, and reduced need for physical resources. However, the use of VR as an assessment tool is still emerging, particularly in nursing and medical education. The aim of this systematic review was to examine how immersive VR is used as an assessment tool for nursing and medical ***, PubMed, PsycINFO, Cochrane, CINAHL, and ERIC were searched for articles that assessed nursing and/or medical students using immersive/HMD VR. The data was extracted, and content analysis was ***-six studies met the inclusion criteria, investigating VR assessments in various settings mostly emergencies. Assessments focused on core competencies Patient Care such as first triage, Interpersonal and Communication Skills (e.g., interprofessional communication), and Medical Knowledge (e.g., about coma), utilizing a range of assessment methods from knowledge to performance levels. VR was used either as an automated or supporting assessment tool. Practical considerations in VR implementation were also examined, such as hardware and *** use of VR in medical education assessment shows promise, particularly for emergency scenarios and performance-based tasks related to core competencies such as Patient Care, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, and Medical Knowledge. While this technology offers opportunities to automate assessments and reduce examiner workload, challenges related to software, costs, and feasibility must be addressed. Additionally, aligning learning objectives, teaching methods, and VR assessments through constructive alignment is essential to ensure effective implementation as both a teaching and evaluation tool.

Over the past decade, research using virtual reality and serious game-based instruments for assessing spatial navigation and spatial memory in at-risk and AD populations has risen. We systematically reviewed the literature since 2012 to identify and evaluate the methodological quality and risk of bias in the analyses of the psychometric properties of VRSG-based instruments. The search was conducted primarily in July-December 2022 and updated in November 2023 in eight major databases. The quality of instrument development and study design were analyzed in all studies. Measurement properties were defined and analyzed according to COSMIN guidelines. A total of 1078 unique records were screened, and following selection criteria, thirty-seven studies were analyzed. From these studies, 30 instruments were identified. Construct and criterion validity were the most reported measurement properties, while structural validity and internal consistency evidence were the least reported. Nineteen studies were deemed very good in construct validity, whereas 11 studies reporting diagnostic accuracy were deemed very good in quality. Limitations regarding theoretical framework and research design requirements were found in most of the studies. VRSG-based instruments are valuable additions to the current diagnostic toolkit for AD. Further research is required to establish the psychometric performance and clinical utility of VRSG-based instruments, particularly the instrument development, content validity, and diagnostic accuracy for preclinical AD screening scenarios. This review provides a straightforward synthesis of the state of the art of VRSG-based instruments and suggests future directions for research.

Background: Recovery of upper limb function after stroke secondary to ischemia or hemorrhage is crucial for patients' independence in daily living and quality of life. virtual reality (VR) is a promising computer-based technology designed to enhance the effects of rehabilitation;however, the results of VR-based interventions remain equivocal. Objective: This study aims to review the plausible factors that may have influenced VR's therapeutic effects on improving upper limb function in patients with stroke, with the goal of synthesizing an optimal VR intervention protocol. Methods: The databases PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were queried for English-language papers published from May 2022 onward. Two reviewers independently extracted data from the included papers, and discrepancies in their findings were resolved through consensus during joint meetings. The risk of bias was assessed using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database Scale and the Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies. Outcome variables included the Action Research Arm Test, Box-Block Test, Functional Independence Measure, Upper Extremity Fugl-Meyer Assessment, and Wolf Motor Function Test. The plausible factors examined were age, total dosage (hours), trial length (weeks), session duration (hours/session), frequency (sessions/week), and VR content design. The Bonferroni adjustment was applied to P values to prevent data from being incorrectly deemed statistically significant. Results: The final sample included 15 articles with a total of 1243 participants (age range 48.6-75.59 years). Participants in the VR therapy (VRT) group (n=455) demonstrated significantly greater improvements in upper limb function and independence in activities of daily living compared with those in the conventional therapy group (n=301). virtual reality (VR) and 360 degrees VR videos are increasingly important for media advertising campaigns due to their immersive potential. This particularly applies to topics many recipients find difficult to grasp, including environmental protection issues. However, previous research on the effects of 360 degrees VR videos on users' environmental attitudes and behavioural intentions, compared to more traditional media, came to mixed results and lacked a consistent approach regarding the considered presentation modes and mediating mechanisms. To address this circumstance, we compare the effects of 360 degrees VR videos with 2D video, audio, and printed text, and examine the potential roles of spatial presence, narrative transportation, and affect. We presented three environmental protection documentaries in one of the four presentation modes to the participants, who then rated their experiences as well as their environmental protection and donation intentions. We analysed data from 128 participants and examined the main effects of presentation mode (360 degrees VR video vs. 2D video vs. audio vs. text) on spatial presence, narrative transportation, and positive and negative affect as well as indirect effects of presentation mode on participants' environmental and donation intentions via these four psychological mechanisms. Results revealed that the 360 degrees VR video condition evoked significantly stronger feelings of spatial presence, narrative transportation, and positive affect than the other conditions. We also found significant indirect effects of presentation mode on environmental protection and donation intentions via narrative transportation. These results emphasise the relevance of the narrative for virtual marketing campaigns and the need to consider mediators in VR research.

Background: virtual reality (VR) interventions have demonstrated efficacy for more than a decade for mood and anxiety disorders and emerging evidence suggests they can reduce pain symptoms in both acute and chronic pain. More recently, these interventions have abounded within the commercial and academic sectors, immersing participants within a virtual environment to confer health benefits to users. VR immersion can facilitate the delivery of health interventions by isolating participants from distractors and stressors in a therapeutic environment. While recent studies of VR interventions have exploded, they are not uniform in approach or device type, limiting generalizability. Recent scoping reviews on VR and chronic pain have focused on specific diseases or limited inquiries to specific interventions or study types. Objective: We conducted a scoping review to generate new knowledge about the sum total of VR studies on chronic pain with specific emphasis on the methods and results of each study, including (1) the type of interventions, (2) outcomes chosen, (3) samples studied, and (4) data generated. Methods: A scoping review was performed on the literature on VR and chronic pain to describe themes associated with the literature to date and identify important gaps and unanswered questions to guide future research. CINAHL [EBSCO] (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) and PubMed were queried for the terms "virtual reality" and "pain," providing studies of chronic pain adult participants using VR delivered through headset displays. We included English-language manuscripts that had at least one VR intervention arm with adults with chronic pain. For this analysis, we only included VR interventions that were immersive (ie, using headsets). Non-study reports, studies with no specific chronic pain component, those not involving adults, and those using VR as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program were excluded. PurposeOur study presents a virtual reality-based tangent screen test (VTS) to measure subjective ocular deviations including torsion in nine directions of gaze. The test was compared to the analogous Harms tangent screen test (HTS).MethodsWe used an Oculus Go (R) controller and head-mounted-display with rotation sensors to measure patient's head orientation for the VTS. The software was developed with Unity (R). We assessed subjective squint angles of adult patients with eye motility disorders of different origin in nine positions of gaze by means of HTS and VTS. We calculated mean difference, 95% limits of agreement and intraclass correlations (ICC) for horizontal, vertical and torsional *** included 85 patients. Measured horizontal and vertical deviations showed very good agreement between the two methods in all gaze directions (horizontal and vertical ICC: 0.93-0.98). Agreement was lower for torsional deviations (ICC: 0.79-0.93). The mean difference in primary position was 1.5 degrees (95% limits of agreement -3.5 degrees to 6.5 degrees) for horizontal, 0 degrees (-2,7 degrees to 2,7 degrees) for vertical, and 0.3 degrees (-4.0 degrees to 3.0 degrees) for torsional deviations. The average examination time was 6 min with the VTS compared to 15 min with the *** and horizontal deviations showed good agreement between both tests measuring a slightly higher esodeviation with VTS probably due to an increased vergence demand. Measurement of torsional misalignment would benefit from a controller with more holding stability, such as a PC-mouse with central wheel, facilitating fine adjustments.
