Hyperventilation syndrome, first described in 1937 (1), consists of a heterogeneous group of signs and symptoms, including paresthesia, muscle rigidity, dizziness, hyperreflexia, tetanus, presyncope, syncope, and seizures. It may be associated with chest pain. We report the case of a patient with recurrent chest pain and syncope due to hyperventilation.

Intravenous digoxin induces constriction of normal and stenotic coronary arteries in patients with coronary artery disease, which may lead to ischemic complications. We found that pretreatment with oral nisoldipine and intracoronary nitroglycerin neutralizes this digoxin-induced effect.
