1 This Technical Report describes how to calculate the loading limits for a pneumatic slide based upon: — external forces applied in the three principle planes of a tool plate, and applied at any point; — external torque applied in the three principle planes of a tool plate; — bearing limits determined by the slide manufacturer in conjunction with the bearing supplier. 2 This Technical Report also describes how to calculate tool plate deflections due to the loads. 3 This Technical Report describes how to present the rating information in technical documentation for application by a user. 4 This Technical Report assumes that all of the applied loads and torque will be absorbed by the guide rods and not by the piston rod. Only the axial thrust load (but not the resulting moments) will be absorbed by the piston rod.

This International Standard specifies dimensions and tolerances of housings for wiper rings used in reciprocating rod applications for fluid power cylinders. The range of rod diameters is from 4 mm to 360 mm. This International Standard is applicable to the following four housing designs. — Type A: recessed housings with undercut or separate cover to retain elastomeric wipers (these are the preferred housings for single lip wipers without integral rigid enforcement). — Type B: open recessed housings for wipers with integral rigid enforcement, that are a press-fit in the housing. — Type C: recessed housings with undercut to retain elastomeric wipers (these are the preferred housings for double lip wipers without integral rigid enforcement). — Type D: recessed housings with undercut to retain elastomer-energized, plastic-faced wipers. This International Standard does not otherwise specify the style, configurations, materials, or performance ratings for the wiper ring.

ISO 16589 describes seals utilizing sealing elements manufactured from suitably formulated compounds, based on thermoplastic materials, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). NOTE ISO 16589 is complementary to ISO 6194 which covers elastomeric seals. This part of ISO 16589 establishes the vocabulary for rotary shaft seals incorporating thermoplastic sealing elements, where the terms and definitions given in ISO 5598 apply.
