The management of patients whose religious beliefs preclude the use of blood or blood products can often be difficult. We report the case of a Jehovah's Witness who was referred to our renal unit for management of thrombotic thrombocytopaenic purpura/haemolytic uraemic syndrome (TTP/HUS), of which the treatment of choice is normally urgent therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) with fresh frozen plasma (FFP).
