Inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysms may present a challenge to the surgeon, especially because of associated retroperitoneal fibrosis and possible ureteral complications. We present a case of inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm with bilateral ureteral entrapment and complete anuria, successfully treated by endovascular grafting and temporary ureteral stenting.

Various approaches exist to widespread ureteral lesions. Renal autotransplantation has a privileged place in selected cases since it gives the patient the best chances for optimal long term results. The authors believe that the procedure should be used more frequently. It does not compete with other procedures but extends the possibilities for the surgeon to save functional renal tissue.

Candida in the urine or surgical wound is a potentially lethal pathogen. Management of 82 patients provided a rationale for the treatment of these infections. Urine colony counts, serologic findings and clinical observations determine therapy. Amphotericin B irrigants are effective for local infections. Disseminated infections require flucytosine and/or i.v. amphotericin B.
