It is necessary for the optimum design of low voltage circuit breakers to analyze electromagnetic Forces acting on the contact systems when the circuit breakers interrupt fault currents. In this paper, the forces which are known as the magnetic blowout force acting on the are and the electromagnetic repulsion force acting on the moving contact arm are obtained by using the 3-dfiniteelement analysis taking into account eddy currents. It is shown that our 3-d analysis is capable of evaluating a new design of contact systems in low voltage ac switching devices.

Great notice is taken of electromagnetic Td (Identity) transmission systems. Therefore, the 3-d numerical analysis is useful for optimum design of high frequency Id card systems which have complex structure. In this paper, we propose a new method for computing the transmission performance employing the 3-d finite element method. In this method, the current vector analysis and the magnetic field analysis are coupled. The effectiveness of this method is clarified through the comparison with the measured results of the induced voltage of the secondary coil. In addition the influence of the angle formed by the primary and the secondary coils on the directivity is investigated.

The 3-d analysis is useful for the optimum design of high frequency coupling transformers which have complex structures, It is difficult to predict the current distributions taking into account eddy currents in sheet coils. In this paper, the current density vector analysis and the magnetic field analysis taking into account eddy currents in the spiral sheet coils are coupled. The exciting current characteristics and copper loss are calculated by our method. It is shown that the load characteristics can be accurately calculated by comparing with measurements, The copper loss distributions taking into account eddy currents in the coils are also shown quantitatively.

This paper presents the torque ripple reductions of 3-phase induction motors with skewed rotor slots related to increase the torque and then filter the sine waveform of magnetic flux density by adjusting skewed rotor slots with the original structure. Skewed rotor slots and normal rotor slots systems are considered in term of simulation results and characteristics for optimized applications. There is tool applied for these solutions as above including 3-d finite element method is applied on MATLAB program computer. The equation based on the simulations is shown in the form of the second order partial differential equation with time-dependent conditions. The results of both Skewed rotor slots and normal rotor slots systems based on steady state and full load of 3-phase induction motor, 4-pole, 3-HP, squirrel-cage anddouble-layer motor. Wanjiakouzi arch dam is constructed in a complex geological site, where a large number of faults, interlayer shear bands and karst zones exist in the dam foundation and abutments. The weak rocks have a bad effect on the stability of the arch dam. In this paper, the displacement distribution and stress field of the arch dam are analyzed using 3d nonlinear finiteelementmethod. The numerical results show that displacement between both left and right bank abutments is obviously asymmetric and there is greater compression and shear deformation along the faults under the thrust of the arch dam. Furthermore, the tensile stress at dam heel cannot meet the requirement of the design specifications. Therefore, it is necessary to reinforce the dam foundation and abutments to improve the ability to resist deformation of abutment. By taking such reinforcement measures as concrete plugs and consolidation grouting for weak zones, the asymmetric displacements between abutments are decreased significantly and the tensile stresses of dam heel meet the stability requirement.

Stepping motors are widely used for various electric instruments. It is necessary for the optimum design to analyze the dynamic characteristics accurately. Our method, which is the 3-dfinite clement method with edge elements taking into account the rotation of the armature, has been expanded to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a stepping motor for wristwatch excited from square pulse voltage source. The validity of our method is confirmed by experiments.

This paper presents the thrust characteristics analysis of linear induction motors (LIMs) using the 3-d finite element method (3-d FEM) with edge elements taking into account eddy currents. LIM's have advantages of simple structure, easy maintenance, less environmental pollution and so on. Therefore, they are widely used for high speed transport systems in clean rooms and hospitals. However, it is difficult to analyze the thrust characteristics of LIM's numerically because of the three dimensional shape. In this paper, we calculate the thrust of a LIM using the 3-d FEM. It is clarified that the validity of the 3-d FEM by comparison of the calculated and measured results.
