Recently, the fundamental problem of unsupervised domain adaptation (UdA) on 3d point clouds has been motivated by a wide variety of applications in robotics, virtual reality, and scene understanding, to name a few. The point cloud data acquisition procedures manifest themselves as significant domain discrepancies and geometric variations among both similar and dissimilar classes. The standard domain adaptation methods developed for images do not directly translate to point cloud data because of their complex geometric nature. To address this challenge, we leverage the idea of multimodality and alignment between distributions. We propose a new UdA architecture for point cloud classification that benefits from multimodal contrastive learning to get better class separation in both domains individually. Further, the use of optimal transport (OT) aims at learning source and target data distributions jointly to reduce the cross-domain shift and provide a better alignment. We conduct a comprehensive empirical study on PointdA-10 and GraspNetPC-10 and show that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance on GraspNetPC-10 (with similar to 4-12% margin) and best average performance on PointdA-10. Our ablation studies and decision boundary analysis also validate the significance of our contrastive learning module and OT alignment. https://***/COT.

The task of detecting the interest points in 3d meshes has typically been handled by geometric methods. These methods, while designed according to human preference, can be ill-equipped for handling the variety and subjectivity in human responses. different tasks have different requirements for interest point detection;some tasks may necessitate high precision while other tasks may require high recall. Sometimes points with high curvature may be desirable, while in other cases high curvature may be an indication of noise. Geometric methods lack the required flexibility to adapt to such changes. As a consequence, interest point detection seems to be well suited for machine learning methods that can be trained to match the criteria applied on the annotated training data. In this paper, we formulate interest point detection as a supervised binary classification problem using a random forest as our classifier. We validate the accuracy of our method and compare our results to those of five state of the art methods on a new, standard benchmark.

Human motion prediction is still an open problem extremely important for autonomous driving and safety applications. due to the complex spatiotemporal relation of motion sequences, this remains a challenging problem not only for movement prediction but also to perform a preliminary interpretation of the joint connections. In this work, we present a Context-based Interpretable Spatio-Temporal Graph Convolutional Network (CIST-GCN), as an efficient 3d human pose forecasting model based on GCNs that encompasses specific layers, aiding model interpretability and providing information that might be useful when analyzing motion distribution and body behavior. Our architecture extracts meaningful information from pose sequences, aggregates displacements and accelerations into the input model, and finally predicts the output displacements. Extensive experiments on Human 3.6M, AMASS, 3dPW, and ExPI datasets demonstrate that CIST-GCN outperforms previous methods in human motion prediction and robustness. Since the idea of enhancing interpretability for motion prediction has its merits, we showcase experiments towards it and provide preliminary evaluations of such insights here. (1)

In this paper the attempt to make an analysis of distance measurement using a stereo vision system was presented. Main emphasis was placed on the geometric camera calibration. The classical method based on the specially prepared calibration pattern with known dimensions and position in a certain coordinates system was performed. Finally, the metric information obtained from images was presented.

The paper experimentally compares six visual oscillation sensing approaches for a three degrees of freedom flexible link robot arm with an eye-in-hand RGB-d camera. The comparison includes five representative scenarios. Based upon the results the authors propose a novel scene adaptive camera motion reconstruction scheme. The scheme adaptively selects the best approach according to the actual scene texture and depth profile. Experiments in indoor scenarios with sparse texture, poor depth profiles as well as dynamic scene contents approve the obtained signal quality to be well suited for visual vibration damping of flexible link robot arms in a great variety of frequently observed scenarios.

deep learning greatly improved the realism of animatable human models by learning geometry and appearance from collections of 3d scans, template meshes, and multi-view imagery. High-resolution models enable photo-realistic avatars but at the cost of requiring studio settings not available to end users. Our goal is to create avatars directly from raw images without relying on expensive studio setups and surface tracking. While a few such approaches exist, those have limited generalization capabilities and are prone to learning spurious (chance) correlations between irrelevant body parts, resulting in implausible deformations and missing body parts on unseen poses. We introduce a three-stage method that induces two inductive biases to better disentangled pose-dependent deformation. First, we model correlations of body parts explicitly with a graph neural network. Second, to further reduce the effect of chance correlations, we introduce localized per-bone features that use a factorized volumetric representation and a new aggregation function. We demonstrate that our model produces realistic body shapes under challenging unseen poses and shows high-quality image synthesis. Our proposed representation strikes a better trade-off between model capacity, expressiveness, and robustness than competing methods. Project website: https://***/danbo.

The utilization of industrial robots and cameras in industrial manufacturing has become widespread. However, the high cost of industrial 3d cameras, in particular, poses a significant challenge in the selection process. The advancements in RGB-d camera technology, which is significantly involved in the development of robotics and more affordable than industrial 3d cameras, are noteworthy. In this research, the Intel Realsense L515 RGB-d camera and the NVIdIA Jetson Xavier NX single board computer were selected for the implementation of an object pose estimation application. The object segmentation algorithm, YOLOv7, was proposed for object detection, which enables the calculation of the X, Y, and Z position of the object. Subsequently, a master and object segmentation point cloud was generated, and a point cloud preprocessing and registration methodology was proposed to determine the R-x, R-y, and R-z angles of the object, utilizing the Open3d library. In addition, an industrial robot interfacing via TCP/IP and serial communication to enable the transformation of the object pose into the robot pose for subsequent transmission is proposed. A web-based application was developed using the django framework to facilitate RGB-d camera monitoring and parameter setting. The experiments were conducted using a three-way tube with a diameter of 25.4 mm. as the object, resulting in the RMS error in X, Y, Z, R-x, R-y, and R-z are 5.3, 4.3, 4.3 mm., 2.2, 1.4, 2.5 degrees respectively. The maximum error in X, Y, Z, R-x, R-y, and R-z are 15.7, 13.6, 6.5 mm., 4.9, 3.5, 7 degrees respectively.

We propose FocusTune, a focus-guided sampling technique to improve the performance of visual localization algorithms. FocusTune directs a scene coordinate regression model towards regions critical for 3d point triangulation by exploiting key geometric constraints. Specifically, rather than uniformly sampling points across the image for training the scene coordinate regression model, we instead re-project 3d scene coordinates onto the 2d image plane and sample within a local neighborhood of the re-projected points. While our proposed sampling strategy is generally applicable, we showcase FocusTune by integrating it with the recently introduced Accelerated Coordinate Encoding (ACE) model. Our results demonstrate that FocusTune both improves or matches state-of-the-art performance whilst keeping ACE's appealing low storage and compute requirements, for example reducing translation error from 25 to 19 and 17 to 15 cm for single and ensemble models, respectively, on the Cambridge Landmarks dataset. This combination of high performance and low compute and storage requirements is particularly promising for applications in areas like mobile robotics and augmented reality. Structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI), especially longitudinal sMRI, is often used to monitor and capture disease progression during the clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (Ad). However, current methods neglect Ad's progressive nature and have mostly relied on a single image for recognizing Ad. In this paper, we consider the problem of leveraging the longitudinal MRIs of a subject for Ad classification. To address the challenges of missing data, data demand, and subtle changes over time in learning longitudinal 3d MRIs, we propose a novel model LongFormer, which is a hybrid 3d CNN and transformer design to learn from image and longitudinal flow pairs. Our model can fully leverage all images in a dataset and effectively fuse spatiotemporal features for classification. We evaluate our model on three datasets, i.e., AdNI, OASIS, and AIBL, and compare it to eight baseline algorithms. Our proposed LongFormer achieves state-of-the-art performance in classifying Ad and NC subjects from all three public datasets. Our source code is available online at https://***/Qybc/LongFormer.

We present a system to create Mobile Realistic Fullbody (MoRF) avatars. MoRF avatars are rendered in real-time on mobile devices, learned from monocular videos, and have high realism. We use SMPL-X as a proxy geometry and render it with dNR (neural texture and image-2-image network). We improve on prior work, by overfitting perframe warping fields in the neural texture space, allowing to better align the training signal between different frames. We also refine SMPL-X mesh fitting procedure to improve the overall avatar quality. In the comparisons to other monocular video-based avatar systems, MoRF avatars achieve higher image sharpness and temporal consistency. Participants of our user study also preferred avatars generated by MoRF.
