This paper details the world's first live 3d holographic (diffractive) video call using off-the-shelf hardware. We introduce a novel pipeline that facilitates the capture, processing, and transmission of RGBZ data, using an iPhone for image anddepth capture with VividQ's SdK for hologram generation and hardware for display.

This contribution illustrates an in-depth study of the perspective construction used in Florentine botteghe in the second half of the fifteenth century based on an analysis of Leonardo da Vinci's famous drawing Studio di varie fabbriche in prospettiva (preparatory study for the Adoration of the Magi) housed in the department of Prints anddrawings of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The drawing was studied using a digital acquisition and restitution instrument capable of providing a 50 mu m resolution and a faithful reproduction of the colour and layout, making it indistinguishable from the original. The authors were thus able to observe details revealing Leonardo's graphic procedure, reconstruct his perspective procedure, and formulate new hypotheses regarding the 'grey' areas of our current knowledge about the procedure.

Giuliano da Sangallo's versatile endeavours are materially embodied not just by the architectural works which have survived to the present day, but also by the many corpus of drawings, surveys of ancient buildings, and the maquettes of several of his projects. To retrace his design method and understand its fundamentals we decided to use 3ddigital models. This is the best tool to examine the procedure adopted by the carpenter-architect whose design method is based on the wooden models he developedduring the design phase and on the worksite. The article describes the method we used to create digital models of three case studies: by analysing sources and surveys we were able to make a model of the current state of the buildings in question, later integrated with the BIM-based model of their ideal state. The latter was created using semantic modelling based on a series of parameters that make it possible to control the way in which the modelling interprets the projects and produces variants. Finally, the integrated model was used to create a virtual reality version in order to assess the reliability of the modelling and interpretative choices.
