Study on 3d simulation of toxic gas leakage in virtual subway space

In order to recur the disaster scene of gas leakage in virtual subway space, this paper presents a simulation system of gas leakage and evacuation based on the Unity platform. Firstly, uses 3ds Max to model the field environment of the virtual subway station to achieve the roaming view in subway station. Secondly, the gas diffusion model is built by using the unity's own particle system, which improves the disaster simulation results. Finally, put forwards an improved dijkstra shortest path algorithm of safety evacuation based on effectiveness of the escape route. The experimental results show that the system can make the emergency drill more realistic, and has great significance for emergency evacuation.

Numerical investigation of unpropped fracture closure process in shale based on 3d simulation of fracture surface

Unpropped fractures constitute a major part of the fracture network in shale after hydraulic fracturing, and their closure process under in situ stress has a significant effect on the well production. In this study, a 3d simulation method based on core experiments and reverse engineering technology was established to simulate the unpropped fracture surface. A contact and deformation model of rock with a rough boundary and normal stress was constructed to investigate the closure process. The plastic characteristics of shale were taken into account through the embedment of the drucker-Prager yield criterion. An unpropped fracture closure experiment was conducted for validating the model, and the influence of stress state, mechanical properties, fracture roughness and slippage degree on the closure process was analyzed. Numerical results demonstrate that an unpropped fracture with greater roughness and slippage degree possesses more flow regions and a larger residual width under a low stress state, which decreases rapidly as the normal stress rises because of the small contact area. Young's modulus is considered to have a positive effect on resisting fracture closure and maintaining effective flow regions under a high stress state. For the shale of the deep Longmaxi formation in south Sichuan, China, the simulation results indicate that the unpropped fractures always retain a residual width greater than 0.7 mm under a closure stress of 60 MPa, which is suitable for flow passages of oil and gas in shale. Methods for moderating the closure process were also analyzed. The numerical simulations provide insights on the unpropped fracture closure process under in situ stress, which will be helpful for fracturing design and production prediction of shale wells.

Combining system dynamics (Sd) and the principle of hydrocarbon migration-accumulation (HMA), on the basis of corner point grid model (CPGM), this paper simulated HMA of dongying depression maturing exploratory area adopting the labyrinth migration mode. The simulation results meet the needs of practical exploration. Thus, a reliable tool is provided for the immature exploratory area while decreasing the exploration risk and increasing the exploration efficiency.

There is an increasing international focus on the need to optimise decommissioning strategies, driven by the anticipation of high costs and major effort for the decommissioning of nuclear facilities in the coming decades. The goals are to control and mitigate costs and negative impacts on workers, the general public, and the environment. The methods presently employed for many decommissioning tasks do not apply the latest advancements of science and technology. Therefore, there is growing interest in research and development into the adoption of novel techniques for improving safety, reducing costs, and increasing transparency. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the authors' results from investigating how current and emerging technologies can be applied to enhance the international decommissioning strategy, focussing in particular on three-dimensional simulation, virtual reality, advanced user interfaces, mobile and wearable devices, and geographical information systems. Our results demonstrate that emerging technologies have great potential for supporting adoption of new instrumentation, improving data and knowledge management, optimising project plans, briefing and training field operators, and for communication, surveillance, and education in general.

Convective hot air drying technology is widely used for fruits and vegetables drying process due to its simplicity in usage, small investment, and convenience in operation. However, it is generally considered energy-intensive process with lower drying efficiency and quality because of unprecise control of drying process. In order to solve these problems, step-down relative humidity (RH) hot air drying technology was applied for papaya drying to improve drying efficiency and quality and reduce energy consumption. The effect of constant RH (20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%) and step-down RH of 50% with different holding times (10, 30, 60, and 90 min) and then decrease to 20% on heat and mass transfer process, drying quality, and energy consumption was examined. Results showed that decreasing RH contributed to improvement in the drying rate (dR). Compared to constant RH of 20%, the drying time under initial RH of 50% for 30 min followed by 20% RH shortened by 21.4%. Additionally, under this RH control strategy, the rehydration ratio (RR) and energy consumption achieved their maximum (7.71 +/- 0.06) and minimum value (0.015 +/- 0.001 kJ/g), respectively. during initial drying stage, high RH improved convective heat transfer coefficient (h(t)) values and material temperature increased quickly. Furthermore, high RH contributed to maintaining pore structure formation, which benefited moisture diffusion. When RH was reduced, low RH enhanced convective mass transfer coefficient (h(m)) significantly, resulting in rapid diffusion of internal moisture at high temperature, as well as rapid moisture evaporation from the surface. Therefore, step-down RH hot air drying was verified to improve drying of papaya slices, making it energy efficient process. The findings in current work indicate step-down relative humidity strategy is a promising technique to enhance hot air drying process, quality, and energy efficiency of papaya slices.

This paper presents a 3d simulation system of the power station equipment maintenance, based on SolidWorks, to vividly simulate components of a power station, including its equipment structure, principle and concrete construction process and technology of maintenance. This system not only can monitor the state of power equipment, but also can integrate the following parts including daily management, structure introduction, and demonstration of operating principles and maintenance process in a power station equipment in order to standardize the equipment management and maintenance process, which is significant to improve the quality of maintenance training.

A 3d numerical simulation-based methodology for assessment of landslide-generated impulse waves: a case study of the Tersun dam reservoir (NE Turkey)

This paper focuses on the evaluation of temporal and spatial propagations of impulse waves using 3d numerical simulation-based models for a potential landslide area in the Tersun dam reservoir, Northeast Turkey. The topographical model was created using Stereo Lithography files, and a drift-flux model was used to simulate the landslides. The wave generation was simulated using the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The drift-Flux approach was selected, and a renormalization group-basedk-epsilon turbulence model was used to create a fluid-solid coupled model. The results show that a 16.5-m impulse wave is created as a result of sliding material hitting the water at a velocity of 16.4 m/s. The wave will reach the opposite shore in 27.4 s, and the run-up height will reach up to 48.8 m. As the wave, with an average velocity of 11.6 m/s in the reservoir, propagates toward the dam body, its height will decrease, and a 3.7-m-high wave will hit the dam in 155 s. A validation analysis performed using empirical equations and laboratory model tests indicates small differences in the results. The main reason for these differences is that the evaluation of wave properties is independent of the type of mass movement in empirical methods. A proper stability analysis is required to have a better estimation of the volume and the velocity of the sliding mass.

Because Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE), one of the most commonly used design evaluation methods, is conducted by users after the completion of construction, it has time and cost limitations for the improvement of physical conditions. To solve this problem, this study proposes a method of Pre-Occupancy Evaluation (PrOE) which can evaluate and improve a design prior to construction by simulating user behavior in the virtual space of the design. A user model, space model and evaluation logic model are used for the evaluation simulation. In the simulation, a virtual user perceives 3d spatial objects within a target virtual space and performs reactions to the perceived objects according to an evaluation logic. The evaluation logic model consists of spatial properties that influence user behavior, and their assessed values. To verify the proposed method, burglary prediction in an urban block was carried out as a case study. The proposed PrOE can overcome the limitation of the conventional approach of design evaluation in that it evaluates designs in advance by reflecting on user requirements, thus making efficient design improvements possible. Modeling & simulation (M&S) provides nowadays one of the best solutions for personnel and managers training in complex environments. In the paper the authors propose an advanced simulator (HLA compliant) that recreates in a three-dimensional virtual environment the Gioia Tauro Container Terminal. The simulator includes four different federates (Straddle Carrier, Quay Crane, Reach stacker and Truck) and can be used to support marine workers training providing the sensation to be in a real container terminal environment. Simulator architecture and Federates/Federation description are provided.
