In 2001, we installed I I new accelerometers in the lake-bed zone of Mexico City, which, together with the existing stations, form a 3d array of small aperture, with 15 surface and six borehole stations. This new array recorded the 10/08/2001 Guerrero event (M=6.1) and the 01/22/2003 Colima (M=7.6) event. The analysis of these two events showed that, for periods longer than 2.5 s. the dominant wavefield is composed of a fundamental mode of surface waves arriving from the epicenter and diffracted surface waves generated at the southern boundary of the Mexican Volcanic Belt. For periods shorter than 2.5 s, the resonance of the superficial clay layer becomes predominant. The wavefield consists in a superposition of diffracted waves propagating from the western part of the valley. Our results show that the ground motion is strongly amplified by the soft clay layer but its duration is controlled by the incident wavefield. (c) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This paper considers the problem of estimating the position and orientation of a user equipped with a three-dimensional (3d) array receiving downlink far-field THz signals from multiple base stations with known positions and orientations. We derive the Cram ' er-Rao Bound for the localization problem and define the coverage of the considered system. We compare the error lower bound distributions of the conventional planar array and the 3d array configurations at different user equipment (UE) positions and orientations. Our numerical results obtained for array configurations with an equal number of elements show very limited coverage of the planar-array configuration, especially across the UE orientation range. Conversely, a 3d array configuration offers an overall higher coverage with minor performance loss in certain UE positions and orientations.

Polyaniline (PANI) with a well-ordered 3d micro array is prepared by using MEMS processes and its electrochromic properties are investigated by comparison with a 2d planar one. The 3d sample has similar response speeds to the 2d one but displays (similar to 1.2X) higher specific capacitance than the latter due to its more PANI content under the same footprint. The 3d micro array is also helpful to enhance the mechanical strength of the PANI film against repeated electrochemical cycling. Moreover, because the 3d array is well-ordered and also its feature size (4 mu m) is comparable to the infrared wavelength, strong interaction occurs between the infrared light and the structure;consequently, the 3d sample shows much larger emissivity modulation (similar to 0.3) than the 2d one (similar to 0.1).

Engineered 3d Vortex array with Customized Energy and Topological Charges for Multi-View display

arrays of multiple vortex beams enhance parallel processing capabilities from particle manipulation to information communication. However, the spatial position, topological charge, and energy parameters of the vortex beams within the array have yet to be precisely controlled, posing significant challenges to the realization of multi-view 3d Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) display using vortex arrays as information carriers. To address this issue, a method for generating vortex arrays based on a phase-only hologram, customizing the array by using the energy and OAM spectrum of each vortex beam as the loss function is developed. Experimental results indicate that a 2d array generates 100 vortex beams in the spatial frequency domain, while a 3d array in the Fresnel zone produces 252 vortex beams across 7 planes, each with 36 unprecedentedly controllable energy and topological charge vortex beams. Subsequently, images of 4 views using the 3d vortex arrays and decoded through coordinate transformation to achieve a multi-view 3d OAM display are encoded. The results demonstrate imaging quality with Mean Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (MPSNR) of 12.7, 13.0, 13.4, and 12.2 dB in 4 views, respectively, offering promising opportunities for applications in 3d optical manipulation, high-capacity communication, and 3d OAM holography. In this study, a multi-view 3d Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) display scheme is developed and experimentally demonstrated. This scheme relies on 3d vortex arrays that enable independent control of the spatial position, topological charge, and energy of vortex beams. Through multiplexing encoding based on these arrays and decoding via coordinate transformation, a 4-view 3d OAM display is successfully achieved. image

We present a new method of constructing three dimensional periodic arrays by composing a two dimensional periodic array with a sequence of shifts consisting of a cyclic group of points on an elliptic curve over a prime field F-p. For every base array B with period (c, c) and every cyclic group G of order C there are Phi(c) families, each of size p(2), of 3d arrays with period (c, c, C). We illustrate our method using a Legendre array as base array. The resulting 3d arrays have period (p, p, C), peak auto-correlation value c(p(2)-1), and non-peak auto-correlation and cross-correlation values of the form kp(2)-C where C is the order of the group and, in the general case, k <= 3. We present experimental results that show that k <= 2 for a certain type of cyclic group of points in F-p when p<1000. Finally, we show that the linear complexity of our constructions compare favorably with other known constructions.

Using a novel double-side fabrication method, a three-dimensional array of about 10,000 intrinsic Josephson junctions was fabricated and singled out from inside a bulk Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x single crystal. The array was proved to be very promising for electronic applications in the sense that the junctions were homogeneous and the junctions were 3d-arranged with high density. Pressure evolution inside a cork stopper under vacuum

A cork stopper may be described by a 3d array of microcavities, which is a 3d arrangement of small cavities interconnected by tiny restrictions. Upon a step pressure change gas slowly flows through the restrictions from the microcavities to the exterior. In this work, we describe a technique to calculate the pressure evolution inside the array and the total gas flow. It is based on electrical analogies and uses a SPICE simulation software to solve large arrays. We reveal how to convert orthogonal 3d arrays in 1d arrays based on symmetry considerations, allowing us to simulate very large systems. We then apply our technique to a cork stopper to calculate the pressure evolution in the inner cell when the stopper is subjected to vacuum. We also describe an experiment to measure the characteristic time constant of a cork stopper and we compare the experimental results with those obtained from our simulations.

Conductive hydrogels have good prospects in the fieldsof flexibleelectronic devices and artificial intelligence due to their biocompatibility,durability, and functional diversity. However, the process of hydrogelpolymerization is time-consuming and energy-consuming, and freezingat zero temperature is inevitable, which seriously hinders its applicationsand working life. Herein, zwitterionic conductive hydrogels with self-adhesiveand antifreeze properties were prepared in one minute by introducingtwo-dimensional (2d) MXene nanosheets into the autocatalytically enhancedsystem composed of tannic acid-modified cellulose nanofibers and zincchloride. The system has strong environmental applicability (-60to 40 degrees C), good stretchability (ductility approximate to 980%), durableadhesion (even after 30 days of exposure to air), and strong electricalconductivity (20 degrees C, 30 mS cm(-1)). By virtueof these advantages, the prepared zwitterionic hydrogels can be developedinto flexible strain sensors to monitor large human movements andsubtle physiological signals over a wide temperature range and tocapture signals from handwriting and voice recognition. In addition,multiple flexible sensors can be assembled into a three-dimensional(3d) array, which can detect the magnitude and spatial distributionof strain or force. These results demonstrate that the prepared zwitterionichydrogels have promising applications in the fields of medical monitoringand artificial intelligence.

Analysis of High-Temperature data Retention in 3d Floating-Gate nand Flash Memory arrays

In this paper, we present a detailed experimental investigation of high-temperature data retention in 3d floating-gate NANd Flash memory arrays. data reveal that charge detrapping from the cell tunnel oxide and depassivation of traps in the string polysilicon channel are the physical mechanisms resulting in the most relevant long-term reliability issues for the memory array. On one hand, the two mechanisms give rise to threshold-voltage V-T instabilities with similar activation energy and comparable magnitude on fresh devices. On the other hand, polysilicon trap depassivation displays a negligible strengthening with cycling and a more marked dependence on the cell V-T level during data retention with respect to charge detrapping. Results must be carefully considered in the reliability assessment of all state-of-the-art and future 3d NANd Flash technology nodes.
