Comprehensive exploration: Automatic mode-locking technology and its multidisciplinary applications

We present a thorough review of the evolution and current status of automatic mode -locking technology, offering insights into its remarkable developments. Automatic mode -locking technology commences with traversal algorithms and genetic algorithms, progressing to machine learning. The advancements ofa* optimization algorithms have ushered in a new era characterized by exceptional time efficiency, enhanced precision, adaptability to multiple variables, and the ability to engage with complex mode -locking regimes. This review concentrates on the improvements of hardware components of automatic mode -locking technology in addition to these algorithmic advances. We introduce the evolution of pivotal components, including polarization control elements and central control sections, which play a critical role in achieving stability and integration, and introduction of realtime measurement techniques in hardware, such as the time -stretched dispersive Fourier transform, which accurate monitoring and adjustment of clamping status and optical characteristics. Finally, a summary and outlook on the development of automatic mode -locking technology is presented.

Tour Design Using Resonant-Orbit Invariant Manifolds in Patched Circular Restricted Three-Body Problems

It is increasingly desirable to incorporate multibody effects in tour design early in the process to both discover new solutions and reduce the number and size of required maneuvers. Flybys have previously been designed using the heteroclinic connections of resonant orbits in the circular restricted three-body problem (CRTBP), but tour design often requires the consideration of additional moons, especially within the Jovian system. In this study, the heteroclinic connections of multiple resonant orbits are chained together within separate CRTBP models to perform multiple flybys that advance through desired resonances. Methods for patching these trajectories together are explored, and sample trajectories are computed.

Optimizing Urban Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Selection: An Approach Integrating GPS Data, Battery Levels, and Energy Availability

This research paper offers a comprehensive exploration of how to enhance the charging infrastructure for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in urban settings. The analysis assesses three hypothetical charging infrastructures in a city, each with generators connected to the national grid and strategically placed AC and DC chargers. The proposed method employs GPS data, EV battery levels, and energy availability across the charging infrastructures. Using ana* optimization algorithm implemented via the Pandapower Python library, the most appropriate charging infrastructure is identified for individual drivers. The algorithm considers factors such as GPS data and energy availability to suggest the optimal charging station for each EV’s battery level. This pioneering solution aims to streamline the charging process, enhance user experience, and encourage efficient use of urban charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.

Satellite Multispectral and Hyperspectral Image De-Noising with Enhanced Adaptive Generalized Gaussian Distribution Threshold in the Wavelet Domain

The presence of noise in remote sensing satellite images may cause limitations in analysis and object recognition. Noise suppression based on thresholding neural network (TNN) anda* optimization algorithms perform well in de-noising. However, there are some problems that need to be addressed. Furthermore, finding the optimal threshold value is a challenging task for learning algorithms. Moreover, in an optimization-based noise removal technique, we must utilize thea* optimization algorithm to overcome the problem. These methods are effective at reducing noise but may blur some parts of an image, and they are time-consuming. This flaw motivated the authors to develop an efficient de-noising method to discard un-wanted noises from these images. This study presents a new enhanced adaptive generalized Gaussian distribution (AGGD) threshold for satellite and hyperspectral image (HSI) de-noising. This function is data-driven, non-linear, and it can be fitted to any image. Applying this function provides us with an optimum threshold value without using any least mean square (LMS) learning ora* optimization algorithms. Thus, it is possible to save the processing time as well. The proposed function contains two main parts. There is an AGGD threshold in the interval [-sigma(n), sigma(n)], and a new non-linear function behind the interval. These combined functions can tune the wavelet coefficients properly. We applied the proposed technique to various satellite remote sensing images. We also used hyperspectral remote sensing images from AVIRIS, HYDICE, and ROSIS sensors for our experimental analysis and validation process. We applied peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and Mean Structural Similarity Index (MSSIM) to measure and evaluate the performance analysis of different de-noising techniques. Updating assembly parameters for spacecraft assembly process state changes: based on data fusion method

Thermal protection systems (TPSs) are important components of reusable spacecraft, and their assembly quality has a crucial impact on flight safety. Owing to the complex assembly process and variable states of spacecraft thermal protection systems, assembly parameters may vary under different assembly states. Therefore, to obtain assembly parameters accurately and efficiently under different assembly states, in this study, 3D point cloud data and fiber optic sensor data were fused to develop an assembly parameter update method for assembly process state changes. Firstly, based on the measured data of thermal protection components and load-bearing structure, the gap, flush and matching parameters solution model are proposed. Secondly, to address the deformation problem of the load-bearing structure caused by changes in assembly status, a fusion method based on laser scanning and sensor detection was devised to achieve deformation prediction of the assembly structure during the assembly process. Thirdly, based on the assembly parameter solution model and point cloud prediction model, a constraint-based assembly parameter optimisation model was established, and an improved quantum particle swarm optimisation (LQPSO) algorithm was employed to achieve assembly parameter updates oriented toward changes in assembly status. Finally, an experimental system for array-based thermal protection structure simulation was established to validate the proposed method. The results show that the proposed parameter update method can achieve ideal results for different assembly state simulation components.

The impact of optimal climate change control on rice production in critical regions: the case of Southeast Asia

This study presents a novel data-driven approach designed to address the intricate link between climate change and agriculture, focusing on rice farming in Southeast Asia. By using advanced modelling and optimization tools, namely ARX models and Model Predictive Control, it aims to control the temperature anomaly across fifteen world’s subregions. Using ARX models to downscale the global temperature anomaly, the approach allows the evaluation of local climate effects. The methodology is applied to evaluate the impact of climate change on rice production in Southeast Asia, projecting potential outcomes under different emission scenarios. By optimizing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide and methane, the goal is to keep the temperature anomaly below critical thresholds, ensuring resilient rice production, supporting food security, and minimizing economic and social costs.

Deep Learning Based Antenna Design and Beam-Steering Capabilities for Millimeter-Wave Applications

In this study, a deep neural network (DNN) is implemented to soft computation of the dual-band circularly polarized bone-shaped patch antenna (BSPA) at 28 GHz and 38 GHz for 5G applications. Via a simulated database of 150 BSPAs, a DNN model is constructed on a 5-layer system using an adaptive learning rate algorithm. The framework and hyper-parameters of the DNN model are optimized in the training phase of a hybrid algorithm combining strengths of both particle swarm optimization (PSO) and a modified version of the gravitational search algorithm (MGSA-PSO). To generate the database for training and testing the model, 150 BSPAs with different geometrical are simulated in terms of the resonant frequency using a precise electromagnetic analysis platform. A fabricated BSPA operating at 28 GHz and 38 GHz is used to test and verify the DNN model. Then, the application of DNN with back-propagation algorithm and weighted MGSA-PSO algorithm is used for beam-steering the main beam pattern of the designed uniform circular antenna array with side-lobe level <= -30 dB by estimating the appropriate feeding phases of the 16 elements. Several illustrative examples are placed to beam-steer the pattern in the desired direction to check the validity of the technique.

On the Detection of Structural Aesthetic Defects of Android Mobile User Interfaces with a Metrics-based Tool

Smartphone users are striving for easy-to-learn and use mobile apps user interfaces. Accomplishing these qualities demands an iterative evaluation of the Mobile User Interface (MUI). Several studies stress the value of providing a MUI with a pleasing look and feel to engaging end-users. The MUI, therefore, needs to be free from all kinds of structural aesthetic defects. Such defects are indicators of poor design decisions interfering with the consistency of a MUI and making it more difficult to use. To this end, we are proposing a tool (Aesthetic Defects DEtection Tool (ADDET)) to determine the structural aesthetic dimension of MUIs. Automating this process is useful to designers in evaluating the quality of their designs. Our approach is composed of two modules. (1) Metrics assessment is based on the static analysis of a tree-structured layout of the MUI. We used 15 geometric metrics (also known as structural or aesthetic metrics) to check various structural properties before a defect is triggered. (2) Defects detection: The manual combination of metrics and defects are time-consuming and user-dependent when determining a detection rule. Thus, we perceive the process of identification of defects as an optimization problem. We aim to automatically combine the metrics related to a particular defect and optimize the accuracy of the rules created by assigning a weight, representing the metric importance in detecting a defect. We conducted a quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed tool in computing metrics and detecting defects. The findings affirm the tool's reliability when assessing a MUI's structural design problems with 71% accuracy.

Multi-Objective Cooperated Path Planning of Multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Based on Revisit Time

This paper investigates multi-objective optimization of coordinated patrolling flight of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles in the vicinity of terrain, while respecting their performance parameters. A new efficient modified A-star (A*) algorithm with a novel defined criterion known as individual revisit time cell value is introduced and extended to the whole area of the three-dimensional mountainous environment. As a contribution to solving tradeoffs in the optimization problem, revisit time is conjugated with other contrary costs effective in flight planning through Pareto analysis. By introducing the revisit time and applying a specific setup to mitigate computational complexity, the proposed algorithm efficiently revisits the desired zones, which are more important to be revisited during the patrolling mission. The results of the introduced modified A* algorithm are compared in various scenarios with two different algorithms: a complete and optimal algorithm known as Dijkstra, and an evolutionary algorithm known as the genetic algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm generates faster and more efficient trajectories in complex multi-agent scenarios due to the introduced cell selection method and dynamic-based simplifications applied in this research.
