Modelling and controlling of PV connected quasi Z-source cascaded multilevel inverter system: An HacsNN based control approach

In this paper, the modelling and controller design for quasi-Z source cascaded multilevel inverter (QZS-CMI) based three-phase grid-tie photovoltaic (PV) power system is presented. The control scheme of 3-phase QZS-CMI is designed as two phases and regulates the source PV voltage and output grid current. Here, the first phase utilized Adaptive Cuckoo Search (acs) algorithm for determining the total PV voltage and the second phase utilized CS algorithm with artificial neural network (ANN) to extract the reference current of grid. In first phase, the acs algorithm engendered the tuning parameters of the PI controller based on the variation of the PV voltage. The second phase ANN is trained offline manner with the exact dataset prepared by the CS technique and it ensures the grid current control. The proposed method is refined for regulating the DC link voltages and extracting the grid currents. The proposed method based QZS-CMI synchronizes the shoot through duty ratio, reduces the modulation burden, regulates the dc link voltage, current and frequency conditions. By using the proposed method, all presented QZS-H-bridge inverter (HBI) modules achieves the grid-tie current injection and independent maximum power point tracking (MPPT) using system level control. The proposed method based QZS-CMI is designed with MATLAB/Simulink platform and their performances are evaluated with traditional techniques.

This paper discusses multi-point earth pressure balance (EPB) optimal control for EPB shield machine with five pressure sensors on its chamber clapboard. The predictive models taking into account advance speed, rotating speed of the cutter head, screw conveyor speed, and the earth pressure measurements are established for five shield chamber pressure points with the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system by minimizing the deviation between the corresponding point's predicted pressures and the settings. Then, the ant colony system algorithm is employed to get the optimal screw conveyor speed to control the EPB during the tunnelling process. Simulation results show that the optimal control method gives better performance with small tracking error and fast tracking speed.

Wireless walker dynamometer design and static calibration based on ant colony system

Walker is a widely used mobility aid to improve users' stability and ambulatory ability. Its dynamometer instrumentation is necessary for quantitative study of basic biomechanics and functional requirements for effective use. How to extract the kinetic demands exactly and without any disturbance to normal gait remains a bottleneck for walker dynamometer design. Based on the force measurement of handle reaction vectors (HRVs) applied to the walker, this study developed a novel strain gauge-based wireless walker dynamometer system integrated with a static calibration algorithm based on ant colony system (acs). Compared with the traditional measurement of HRV, the proposed method enhances security and flexibility of walker use by using one wireless data transmission system connecting 12 strain-gauge bridges mounted on the walker frame with the computer. To improve high-dimensional calibration performance, an acs algorithm was employed to optimise the sensitivity weight matrix during calibration. To evaluate force measurement reliability, system performance with acs algorithm was testified and its mean non-linearity, mean crosstalk and maximal force measurement accuracy error were found to be 6.88, 6.10 and 7.46%, respectively, which were much better than those of traditional linear calibration methods. This implemented walker dynamometer system may prove to be a reliable tool for measurement of hand loads and description of kinetic analysis of basic walker-assisted gait.

acs algorithm-based adaptive fuzzy PID controller and its application to CIP-I intelligent leg

Based on the ant colony system （acs） algorithm and fuzzy logic control, a new design method for optimal fuzzy PID controller was proposed. In this method, the acs algorithm was used to optimize the input/output scaling factors of fuzzy PID controller to generate the optimal fuzzy control rules and optimal real-time control action on a given controlled object. The designed controller, called the Fuzzy-acs PID controller, was used to control the CIP-Ⅰ intelligent leg. The simulation experiments demonstrate that this controller has good control performance. Compared with other three optimal PID controllers designed respectively by using the differential evolution algorithm, the real-coded genetic algorithm, and the simulated annealing, it was verified that the Fuzzy-acs PID controller has better control performance. Furthermore, the simulation results also verify that the proposed acs algorithm has quick convergence speed, small solution variation, good dynamic convergence behavior, and high computation efficiency in searching for the optimal input/output scaling factors.

The shortest path based on MAKLINK graph is composed of straight line segments, and there may have not sufficient space for path smoothing when the vehicle is bounded by turning radius. Both the necessary conditions that the vehicle makes a turn safely at the vertex of swell annulus and the space constraint equation of the path nodes are considered. Transition arcs can be employed directly to wipe off the inflexions of the path, which are intersections of the line segments on the shortest path obtained by the acs algorithm. To speed up the convergence speed and avoid falling into local optimal solution, the acs algorithm is improved in this paper by introducing the global-distance heuristic factor, using pheromone evaporation coefficient with the function of automatic adjustment and restricting the pheromone concentration within some range. The pheromone evaporation coefficient can adjust automatically. The simulation results show that the method can find a collision-free path quickly under different conditions. The quickness and feasibility are demonstrated.

Ant colony system algorithm for the optimization of beer fermentation control

Beer fermentation is a dynamic process that must be guided along a temperature profile to obtain the desired results. Ant colony system algorithm was applied to optimize the kinetic model of this process. During a fixed period of fermentation time, a series of different temperature profiles of the mixture were constructed. An optimal one was chosen at last. Optimal temperature profile maximized the final ethanol production and minimized the byproducts concentration and spoilage risk. The satisfactory results obtained did not require much computation effort.

Ant colony algorithm for finding good interleaving pattern in turbo codes

The excellent performance of recently proposed turbo codes depends strongly on their interleaver pattern. Exhaustive searching for a good interleaving pattern is a very difficult task, growing in the order of N!, where N is the interleaver size. The authors present a modified version of the ant colony system (acs) algorithm for finding good interleaver patterns used in turbo codes. By defining an approximate evaluation method for turbo codes with specified interleaver patterns, a fitness function for use in the modified acs algorithm is obtained. The simulation results show gains up to 0.7dB with sizes of 50 and 100 for the interleavers found by the acs algorithm compared with the randomly generated interleavers.
