We propose a new method for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation in the presence of multipath propagation and mutual coupling for a frequency hopping (FM system. With the use of pilot symbols and assuming perfect time-frequency synchronization for a linear array, we take mutual coupling and multipath propagation into account, and derive a maximum likelihood (ML) estimator for both the mutual coupling matrix and DOA estimation. We then formulate an iterative alternating minimization (am) algorithm for finding the mutual coupling and DOA parameters in an alternate manner. Simulation results illustrating the performance of the algorithm and comparison with the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) are also presented.

The performance of Stochastic ML (SML) algorithm of Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) is much more superior to many other algorithms in array signal processing. However, the estimation of SML is a non-linear multi-dimensional optimization problem. Therefore its computational complexity is very high. In this paper, firstly we show exact definition of SML estimation of DOA for incoherent signals and brief description of the conventional solving method, Alternating Minimization (am) algorithm. Then, we propose to use the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to solve the estimation of SML. Also in this paper, we propose a method to optimize the inertia factor of PSO. Simulation results show that the computational complexity of the proposed PSO algorithm for SML estimation is much lower than that of the conventional am algorithm.

A semi-blind image restoration approach is put forward in this paper for light-microscopy system. Microscope creates unavoidable light artefacts because of the Point Spread Function (PSF) of the optical system, and our early research shows that PSF of the microscopy system can be modeled as isotropic Gaussian blur. That is the motivation of this paper. We present an algorithm, based on functional minimization, which integrates Canny edge detection with semi-blind deconvolution. An alternating minimization (am) implicit iterative scheme is devised to recover the image and simultaneously identify PSF. Good performance is observed with numerically blurred images and really microscopic images, even under the presence of high noise level.

Diamond, a wide bandgap semiconductor material, has excellent physicochemical properties. It has great potential for application in high temperature, high frequency, high power electronic devices and other high technology fields. In order to study the electronic properties of diamond more precisely, an am-response surface model is developed in this paper to investigate the electronic structures of diamond, P-doped diamond and N-doped diamond surfaces in depth. It is shown that there are three forms of charge states in the single vacancy on the diamond surface. When E=0 V, the negative charge energy level is -0.5 mV, the positive charge is 1 mV, and the zero level remains 0. And its energy level is unstable. In contrast, the double vacancy charge on the diamond surface varies depending on the valence band taken by E, and only one charge state exists. When E<0, the diamond surface vacant electron nature is negative charge state. When E>0, it is positive charge energy level. The electronic properties of the P-doped diamond semiconductor material are calculated to have a constant positive charge (1 mV). The electronic property of N-doped diamond semiconductor material is constant negative charge (-1mV).
