There are millions of visually impaired or blind people in this world who are always in need of helping hands. For many years the white cane became a well-known attribute to blind person's navigation and later efforts have been made to improve the cane by adding remote sensor. Blind people have big problem when they walk on the street or stairs using white cane, but they have sharp haptic sensitivity. The electronic walking stick will help the blind person by providing more convenient means of life. The development of the computers has made human life more comfortable. Human-computer Interaction (HCI) involves the study, planning, and design of the interaction between people (users) and computers. This research paper aims at the development of a portable and cost effective wireless eye movement-controlled HCI which can be used for the disabled who have motor paralysis and their hands cannot be used in multiple applications. A new mouse is proposed as an input device whose operation is based on measurement of rotations of the user's head and detection of eye blinks. The software and hardware implementation of this HCI interface have been done using Linux platform and atmega328 microcontroller respectively. The results show that the proposed system works efficiently and produces an error rate that allows it to be used as part of HCI. Thus, the system provides a flexible and cost effective method for the disabled to improve the quality of life.

This research introduces an innovative approach to enhance the mobility and independence of individuals with limited mobility by developing an IoT-based, self-reliable wheelchair capable of climbing stairs. The wheelchair utilizes atmega328 microcontroller as its central processing unit, incorporating an accelerometer to detect hand movements for intuitive control of forward, backward, left, and right motions. The unique triangular wheel arrangement on either side of the wheelchair enables it to navigate staircases effectively. Powering the wheelchair is a rechargeable battery, with a regulator ensuring a stable power supply to the boards and sensors. The H-bridge motor driver controls the wheelchair's motors, facilitating smooth and precise movements. In addition to its advanced mobility features, the wheelchair is equipped with health monitoring capabilities. A heartbeat and temperature sensor are integrated to continuously monitor the user's health condition. In the event of deteriorating health, an alarm is triggered, and a corresponding message is displayed on the LCD display. This real-time health monitoring system adds an extra layer of safety, ensuring timely intervention in case of emergency. This IoT-based wheelchair represents a significant advancement in assistive technology, providing not only enhanced mobility for navigating challenging terrains but also incorporating health monitoring features to ensure the well-being of the user. In country like India demand of energy increases with increase in population so the use of renewable and natural sources of energy like wind energy, tidal energy, solar energy etc is the need of time in country. In this paper we present development and experimental study of two axis automatic control of solar tracking system using Arduino. In hardware development five light dependent resistors (LDR) has been used to sense and gather maximum solar energy. Two permanent magnet DC motors are used to move the solar dish according to the solar energy sensed by LDR. In software part we design a controller which will move the collector dish to track the sun. The controller uses LDR sensors as input and permanent magnet DC geared motors as an output. LDR are used to sense the intensity of light and generate the signals which will be further processed by atmega328 microcontroller. microcontroller executes the algorithm and gives control command to motor driver. A wearable computing navigation aid for the visually impaired was designed, tested and evaluated in a series of pilot experiments. The system comprises an ultrasonic transceiver, a digital compass with a built-in accelerometer, sound playback electronics, a vibration motor and a microcontroller, all integrated inside a glove. The system prototype is power autonomous for about an hour and interfaces with the user through both audio and tactile output. The system design goals were reliability, wearability, power autonomy, an intuitive user interface, and open source architecture, low cost and rapid prototyping. A total of 16 pilot testers participated in evaluation experiments, in which they had to use CYCLOPS (http://***) to navigate an unfamiliar obstacle course towards a goal destination designated by an audio target. 5 of the pilot testers were visually impaired, and 11 were blindfolded seeing individuals. Post-experiment interviews were used to collect qualitative data from all participants. Results indicate that pilot testers of both groups found CYCLOPS to be intuitive to use for blind navigation, even after a brief 5min familiarization period. Several functional corrections and requirements were extracted from the experimental and qualitative data, which will be used to drive the design of future CYCLOPS prototypes.
