Networks of interacting Hawkes processes have emerged as useful models in neuroscience, geophysics, high frequency finance, and social network analysis. The Hawkes process is of fundamental importance, being a point process analog of an autoregression. Here we develop a fixed gain adaptive (aka online) distributed estimator for the parameters of a Hawkes process model. The stochastic intensity is modeled by a causal Laguerre basis expansion. The natural recursive structure of this basis is exploited to derive a new two time scale adaptive algorithm based on exponentially weighted least squares which preserves non-negativity constraints. Simulations illustrate the results.

A novel Contrast Limited adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) image enhancement method which uses the environment self-perception mechanism is proposed. First, the typical degraded image datasets are collected. Second, several Image Quality (IQ) evaluation metrics are used to assess the imaging effect of these datasets above. Third, a BP network is employed to build the connection between the IQ evaluation results above and the optimal control parameters tuning results of the classic CLAHE. The optimal control parameters tuning results are gotten by the subjective evaluation and the setting of the control parameters of the classic CLAHE. The expert experiences of the optimal enhancement are used as the evaluation benchmark. Finally, when a new degraded image is captured, its IQ evaluation metrics will be computed and its optimal control parameters will be forecasted by the BP network and the computed IQ evaluation metrics. Many experiment results have shown the effectiveness of proposed method.

Generative adversarial networks (GANs) are well known both for being unstable to train and for the problem of mode collapse, particularly when trained on data collections containing a diverse set of visual objects. This study introduces an adaptive hyper-parameter learning procedure for GANs as an alternative to the existing static approach. The proposed procedure is designed to mitigate the impact of instability and saturation in the original by dynamically adjusting the ratio of the training steps of both the generator and discriminator. To accomplish this, we track and analyze stable training curves of relatively narrow datasets and use them as the target fitting lines when training more diverse data collections. Experimental results show that the proposed model improves the stability and generates more realistic images.

Global navigation satellite systems(GNSSs) have been widely used in military and civil fields, and the security and application of GNSSs have been greatly weakened by various intentional and unintentional interference. An interference suppression technique based on wavelet packet transform(WPT) is proposed in this paper, which can effectively suppress interference in the same frequency band of the GNSS receiver. First, we introduce the principles and implementation of WPT. The anti-jamming performance of the proposed method is evaluated according to the carrier-to-noise ratio(CNR) at the receiving end. Additionally, the differences in the anti-jamming performance of the proposed algorithm for different types of interference are analyzed. In a case where the spread spectrum code rate is 2.046 MHz, for the pulse interference shown in Table 2, the maximum interference-to-signal ratio(ISR) that can be suppressed by the proposed method is 100 dB. For sweep interference, the maximum ISR that can be suppressed is 80 dB, and for single-tone interference, the maximum ISR that can be suppressed is 80 dB.

Wireless sensor networks have been widely used in environment, climate, animal monitoring, surveillance, and also in the medical field. When deploying sensors to monitor boundaries of battlefields or country borders, sensors are usually dispersed from an aircraft following a predetermined path. In such scenarios sensing gaps are usually unavoidable. We consider a wireless network consisting of randomly deployed sensor nodes and directional border nodes deployed using a random line-based deployment model. In this paper we propose an adaptive distributed algorithm for weak-barrier coverage that allows border nodes to dynamically compute their orientation based on notifications from the sensor nodes, such that to increase the number of intruders detected by the border nodes. We use simulations to analyze the performance of our algorithm and to compare it with a non-adaptive gap mending algorithm.

Emerged as a choice of display for vivid colours and power efficiency in expensive Smartphones, in recent days Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) displays are increasingly replacing Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) and Plasma in Smartphones and large screen Televisions. Yet, OLED displays are one of the most energy consuming modules in modern Smartphones. Power consumption of OLED displays have strong correlation with the colours illuminated by its pixels. Improvements in pixel density by manufacturers makes the displays more power hungry. In this paper, we present Human Visual System (HVS) aware adaptive colour transformation and darkening methods to create power-efficient videos for OLED displays while preserving visual fidelity of the videos. Our measurements and subjective evaluations show that we can save up to 60% of energy consumption with minimum distortion to visual quality of the video. As our colour transformation process uses pre-computed colour-map and the darkening process uses the gamma-correction function which is already implemented in most of the display hardware, run-time computation overheads are minimum and hence, our method can be used to manipulate realtime/live video streams as well.

Aiming at the problem of positioning and tracking of hypersonic vehicles in adjacent space, the positioning and tracking performance of space-based infrared low-orbit satellite binary star system for hypersonic vehicles is explored. According to the kinematic equation of the established hypersonic vehicle, based on STK and Matlab simulation software, The real trajectory of the target, the tracking observation scene of the binary star for the target aircraft is built in the STK simulation software. The Cubature Kalman filter algorithm based on the CS model is studied. According to the shortcomings of the CS model, the key parameters are self-determined Adapt to the adjustment. The celebrated filtered-x least mean square (FxLMS) algorithm does not work well for active noise control (ANC) of impulsive source. In previous attempts, the robustness of FxLMS algorithm has been improved by thresholding the reference and/or error signals used in the ANC system. However, estimating these thresholds is not any easy task in most of the practical scenarios. The need for appropriate thresholds is avoided in a previously proposed improved normalized-step-size FxLMS (INSS-FxLMS) algorithm, however, there is a trade-off situation between the convergence speed and steady-state performance as a fixed step-size needs to be selected properly. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for impulsive ANC (IANC) systems. The proposed algorithm is based on the previously proposed INSS-FxLMS. The main idea to employ a convex-combined step-size which automatically converges to a large value to improve the convergence speed during the transient state, and to a small value as the IANC system converges at the steady-state. Extensive simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effective performance of the proposed algorithm.
