We work on the investigation of the H-infinity performance for uncertain stochastic singular Markovian jump systems with both nonlinear external disturbance and general unknown transition rates (TRs) in this paper. There exist uncertainties in both parameters and TRs. Every transition rate could be totally unavailable or only its estimated value is available. With a generalized H-infinity disturbance attenuation level., some robust controllers are designed such that the delayed singular Markovian jump system is stochastically admissible. The novel controllers designed in this paper consist of an adaptive controller and a linear controller. Moreover, some sufficient linear matrices inequalities (LMIs) conditions are provided according to Lyapunov stability theory and Ito's differential formula. Finally, an example is presented to demonstrate our main results. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

This paper studies the H-infinity performance for the uncertain recurrent neural networks with both nonlinear external disturbance and Markovian jump parameters, in which the time delay is varying. Our objective is to design robust controllers, that are independent of the time delay, such that the uncertain system is stochastic stable with a generalized H-infinity disturbance attenuation level gamma. For the given uncertain stochastic system, new controllers which are composed of a linear controller and an adaptive controller are proposed to realize H-infinity control by introducing a switching function and using the idea of completing square. Based on Ito's differential formula and Lyapunov stability theory, new sufficient conditions are obtained in terms of linear matrices inequalities. A numerical example is constructed to show effectiveness of the designed controller in this paper. (C) 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

An All-coefficients Identification adaptive control method and its Applications

In this paper an expression in which the sum of all coefficients of a model is equal to unity is presented for the problem of single-input/single-output adaptive control system with constant but unknown parameters. hence, a new recursive algorithm is derived. Using the above result, all unknown parameters of model’s equation can be identified online and in real time, and converged to engineering true value. Implementation of the method and its applications to various engineering problems are also presented in detail.

Reconfigurable flight control system design using direct adaptive method

A reconfigurable flight control system provides better survivability through the automatic reconfiguration of control system when faults occur during flight. The adaptive control method has been effectively applied to the reconfigurable flight control system design. However, reconfigurable flight control systems based on the indirect adaptive control method require persistent input excitation and smooth input-output data. To deal with the persistent input excitation problem and to obtain smooth control input, the system identification algorithm in reconfiguration flight control systems usually imposes some constraints on past input-output data, which may deteriorate the reconfiguration performance. Thus, a new reconfigurable flight control system based on the direct adaptive method is proposed to achieve better reconfiguration performance without the system identification process. The proposed control method uses a model following controller with direct adaptive update rules. To control the inner-loop states and the outer-loop states of the flight system simultaneously, the timescale separation principle is applied. The reconfiguration performance of the proposed control method is evaluated through numerical simulations using a six-degree-of-freedom nonlinear aircraft model.

Ship-mounted cranes are widely used in offshore constructions, resource exploitation and marine salvages, to transfer payloads. Due to serious sea conditions, unexpected motions of the ships caused by the wave will probably pose serious efficiency and security issues. Thus, the wave compensation system has become necessary equipment for the ship-mounted crane. But wave-induced motions of the ship, parametric uncertainties and nonlinearities remain challenges for control of wave compensation systems, which needs to be solved urgently. In this paper, the mathematical model of the wave compensation system is established firstly. Then, a sliding mode controller is presented and the stability is proved considering ship roll movement. To deal with the unknown parameters of the system, the radial basis function (RBF) neural network is utilized in conjunction with sliding mode controller to construct an adaptive control strategy. Finally, both simulation and experiment results are included to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. The proposed control approach has better adaptability and greater robustness without chattering phenomenon, which can provides useful reference for other underactuated system facing persistent disturbances and parametric uncertainties.

An adaptive attitude control law is presented to realize linear closed loop dynamics in the attitude error vector. The Modified Rodrigues Parameters (MRPs) are used along with their associated shadow set as the kinematic variables since they form a nonsingular set for all possible rotations. The desired linear closed loop dynamics can be of either PD or PID form. Only a crude estimate of the moment of inertia matrix is assumed to be known. A nonlinear control law is developed which yields linear closed loop dynamics in terms of the MRPs. An adaptive control law is then developed that enforces these desired linear closed loop dynamics in the presence of large inertia and external disturbance model errors. Because the unforced closed loop dynamics are nominally linear, standard linear control methodologies such as pole placement can be employed to satisfy design requirements such as control bandwidth. The adaptive control law is shown to track the desired linear performance asymptotically without requiring apriori knowledge of either the inertia matrix or external disturbance.

Automatic droop control for a low voltage DC microgrid

A DC microgrid (DC-MG) provides an effective mean to integrate various sources, energy storage units and loads at a common dc-side. The droop-based, in the context of a decentralised control, has been widely used for the control of the DC-MG. However, the conventional droop control cannot achieve both accurate current sharing and desired voltage regulation. This study proposes a new adaptive control method for DC-MG applications which satisfies both accurate current sharing and acceptable voltage regulation depending on the loading condition. At light load conditions where the output currents of the DG units are well below the maximum limits, the accuracy of the current sharing process is not an issue. As the load increases, the output currents of the DG units increase and under heavy load conditions accurate current sharing is necessary. The proposed control method increases the equivalent droop gains as the load level increases and achieves accurate current sharing. This study evaluates the performance and stability of the proposed method based on a linearised model and verifies the results by digital time-domain simulation and hardware-based experiments.

adaptive control to Mitigate Damage Impact on Structural Response

The use of semi-active devices for natural hazard mitigation is particularly attractive as they do not destabilize the structure and have the ability of adapting to varying usage patterns and loading conditions. However, even in the presence of supplemental control devices, extreme earthquake, wind loads, and deterioration caused by corrosion or fatigue may result in structural damage. adaptive control approaches are attractive methods to control the structural performance of the structure as it can deal with these changes. In this study, first, the behavior of a 3-story building is controlled by a direct adaptive control approach using active devices, and then, magnetorheological (MR) dampers are controlled by the direct adaptive method. This control approach is used to reduce the impact of damage in the 3-story building. In the analysis of the structure, some stiffness reduction is assumed as a result of potential damage in different stories of the building. The controlled damaged structure responses under different ground motions are presented and compared with the uncontrolled damaged structure behavior. The goal of the adaptive control method in this research is to force the damaged structure to behave like an undamaged structure which performs acceptably. The effectiveness of this method in controlling the MR dampers is then verified.

Robust control of nonlinear systems using model-error control synthesis

A new approach for the robust control of nonlinear systems is presented. This approach employs an optimal real-time nonlinear estimator to determine model-error corrections to the control input using a one time-step ahead technique. control compensation is achieved by using the estimated model error as a signal synthesis adaptive correction to the nominal control input so that maximum performance is achieved in the face of extreme model uncertainty and disturbance inputs. A significant advantage of this approach over other adaptive methods is that model parameters need not be updated on-line. Instead, the effects of these errors are used to update the actual control signal, which leads to a simple design strategy. The model-error control synthesis approach is used in conjunction with a variable structure controller to suppress the wing-rock motion of a slender delta wing. Simulation results indicate that the model-error control synthesis approach is extremely effective in providing closed-loop robustness in the face of significant model uncertainties and disturbance inputs.

Fault-Tolerant Track control of Hypersonic Vehicle Based on Fast Terminal Sliding Mode

In this paper, the track control problem of hypersonic a vehicle with modeling uncertainties, external disturbance, and multifault is studied and analyzed. First, a fault model of a second-order system including disturbance is established by introducing auxiliary error variables on the basis of feedback linearization for a longitudinal model of the hypersonic vehicle. Second, for a fault-free actuator and system model with unknown upper bound disturbance, a fast adaptive terminal sliding mode controller is designed, which ensures the sliding mode manifold is finite-time stable. To solve the multifault problem of actuator, based on the passive fault-tolerant control method, a fast adaptive terminal sliding mode fault-tolerant controller is designed, which guarantees that the system state is finite-time stabile in the event of actuator failure. The controller adopts two adaptive algorithms to estimate the unknown fault information and system disturbance information. Finally, a rigorous proof using Lyapunov theory is given for the stability of the designed controllers. Numerical simulation is run for the longitudinal nonlinear dynamic model of a hypersonic vehicle and simulation results prove the effectiveness of the two designed controllers.
