A Novel adaptive filtering algorithm Based Parameter Estimation Technique for Photovoltaic System

This paper offers a hybrid analytical and estimation based technique to determine the photovoltaic (PV) system parameter in a systematic way. The new model formulation is based on the datasheet parameters under standard test condition and normal operating cell temperature environment, forming the analytical approach's foundation. The estimation part is based on the adaptive filtering algorithm, which shows superiority in estimated parameters compared to existing techniques applied in the photovoltaic system. The proposed approach is made available for a single diode PV model and scaled up aggregated model in extracting the model parameters of two real PV modules in the market, representing the exact I-V characteristics of the manufacturer datasheet. A rigorous comparative analysis is carried out between two adaptive and two optimization based estimations for performance evaluation and recommendation purposes.

Fast adaptive filtering algorithm based on exponentially weighted least-square errors

The linearly filtered gradient least mean square algorithm is reformulated using exponentially weighted least-square errors, and a partially filtered gradient LMS algorithm is proposed as a variant. It is shown that the proposed algorithm is superior in terms of convergence and tracking capability compared to the LMS and FGLMS algorithms.

Unbalance Vibration Suppression Control of PMa-BSynRM Based on Total Least Square adaptive filtering algorithm

To solve the vibration problem of a permanent-magnet-assisted bearingless synchronous reluctance motor (PMa-BSynRM) caused by rotor unbalance, an unbalance vibration suppression control (UVSC) based on improved total least square (TLS) algorithm is proposed in this article. First, the rotor vibration mechanism is analyzed. Second, a feed-forward closed-loop suppression control scheme based on TLS adaptive filtering algorithm is proposed. Considering that both input signal and output signal are affected by noise in the actual system, the TLS adaptive filtering algorithm is adopted, and the logarithmic function is used to improve its cost function, which further enhances the antidisturbance performance of the algorithm. Finally, the experimental platform of PMa-BSynRM is established, and the vibration suppression experiments are carried out under the conditions of constant velocity, rotor acceleration, and external disturbance. Test results show that the proposed control algorithm is effective in suppressing rotor vibration. The UVSC proposed in this article can realize the stable suspension operation of PMa-BSynRM with higher precision.

An adaptive filtering algorithm for Non-Gaussian Signals in Alpha-Stable Distribution

Currently, many adaptive filtering algorithms are available for the non-Gaussian environment, namely, least mean square (LMS) algorithm, recursive least square (RLS) algorithm, least mean fourth (LMF) algorithm, and subspace minimum norm (SMN) algorithm. Most of them can converge to the steady-state, but face various constraints in the presence of alpha (alpha)-stable noises. To solve the problem, this paper aims to develop an adaptive filtering algorithm for non-Gaussian signals in alpha-stable distribution, drawing on the merits of existing adaptive filtering algorithms. Firstly, the authors introduced the theory of alpha-stable distribution, the central limit theorem and fractional lower-order statistics (FLOS). Next, two classic adaptive filtering algorithms, RLS and LMS, were summarized, and compared through tests. On this basis, the FLOS-SMN algorithm was designed in the light of the features of the LMS and the SMN, which applies to the filtering of non-Gaussian signals in a- stable distribution. Finally, the proposed algorithm was proved as faster, more stable and more adaptable than the traditional method.

To meet the needs of education in the learning community, an adaptive filtering algorithm for teaching resources based on vector space model was proposed in the paper. First, feature selection and pseudo feedback were used to select the initial filtering profiles and thresholds through training algorithm. Then user feedback was utilized to modify the profiles and thresholds adaptively through filtering algorithm. The algorithm had two advantages, the first was that it could carry on self-study to improve the precision;the second was that the execution did not need massive initial texts in the process of filtering. The result manifested that the algorithm was effective.

To approach an effective vibration control, the emphasis of the research is an adaptive control method for vehicle suspension system. Because of the features of the passive suspension's structure, the system can only store or exhaust the body vibration energy. So the conception of active and semi-active suspension has been advanced, which give a new way to improve the vibration performance of suspension system. The Least Means Squares (LMS) adaptive filtering algorithm is used in active suspension system. With adjusting the weight of the adaptive filter, the minimum quadratic performance index is obtained. For the vibration control of two-DOF vehicle suspension model, the simulation results show that the body's vertical vibration control based on the adaptive filtering algorithm is prominent under the excitation of road signal.

This paper addresses the problem of speech quality enhancement and acoustic noise reduction by adaptive blind source separation algorithms. Recently, several two-channel forward-and-backward structures have been proposed for acoustic noise reduction based on normalized least-mean-square (NLMS) algorithm. The backward structure presents the good performance compared with its direct version (forward). But the main drawback of the backward algorithm is its poor performance in steady state regime when the fixed step-size is selected large. In this paper, we propose two new versions of this algorithm by introducing simple variable step-sizes approaches, which allow improving both the steady state values. The proposed modifications are based on efficient estimation of the optimal step-sizes of the cross-coupling filters. To confirm the good performance of the proposed variable step-size algorithms, we have carried out several simulations in very noisy situation.

An adaptive filtering algorithm is designed in this study, and the convergence of the algorithm is analyzed. The new algorithm is used to cancel echo in the chaotic communication systems experiencing echo channels. The results of computer simulation indicate that the new algorithm has faster convergence speed and higher accuracy of computation than that of the old one. In addition, the new algorithm is more stable in the case of low signal to noise ratio (SNR)

A variable step size least mean p-power adaptive filtering algorithm based on multi-moment error fusion

For the channel estimation problem under a-stable distributed impulse interference, the traditional fixed-step adaptive filtering cannot satisfy the fast convergence speed and low steady-state error at the same time, whereas the variable-step method is able to effectively solve this contradiction. This paper proposes an improved variable step-size least mean p-power adaptive algorithm that offers good robustness against impulsive noise. The proposed algorithm takes into account the linkage between the errors and uses the adjustment of the step size based on the errors of the current moment and the previous k moments, thus overcoming the problems of poor antinoise performance and large steady-state fluctuations of the fixed-step size algorithm. This algorithm ensures that the step size does not change abruptly when the system is disturbed by impulse noise and can achieve a lower steady-state error. The simulation results show that the algorithm has better convergence than the traditional fixed step-size algorithm and the existing variable step-size algorithm under the interference of impulsive noise.

Low complex direction of arrival estimation method based on adaptive filtering algorithm

Conventional subspace decomposition-based direction of arrival (DOA) estimation methods require eigenvalue decomposition of spatial covariance matrix, therefore these methods are computationally intensive, and their implementation is difficult in real-time applications. However, a DOA estimation method based on fixed step size least mean square (LMS) algorithm has overcome this deficiency but the suitable selection of step size is very difficult. A DOA estimation method based on the variable step size LMS algorithm is proposed in this article. In the proposed method, the step size is updated by using the estimated error signal. The spatial spectrum is obtained by the reciprocal of array pattern, where the peak values indicate the estimated DOAs of signals. The proposed method can provide better performance with low computational cost. The performance of proposed method is verified by the simulations and compared with some existing methods.
