The quaternion relaxed greedy randomized Kaczmarz method with adaptive parameters for solving quaternion matrix equation

In this paper, we propose a quaternion relaxed greedy randomized Kaczmarz method with adaptive parameters for solving the quaternion matrix equation and prove that it converges to the unique least Frobenius norm solution. To accelerate the convergence, we incorporate the adaptive stochastic heavy ball momentum into the quaternion relaxed greedy randomized Kaczmarz method, and provide the corresponding convergence analysis framework. Numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed methods, particularly in the color image restoration.

Arc Suppression Control With adaptive parameters of Active Grounding Device Considering Ground Fault Resistance Uncertainty

Active grounding device (AGD) is an effective device to eliminate grounding arcs and prevent disasters caused by ground faults in distribution networks. However, due to the uncertainty of the ground fault resistance, the traditional arc suppression control cannot guarantee the suppression effect and the control stability simultaneously under the fixed control parameters. In this article, an arc suppression control method based on adaptive parameters is proposed. According to the dual-loop control model of the AGD connected to the fault distribution network, the relationship between the model input and the fault voltage is derived. Then in two extreme cases of the ground fault resistance, the suppression effect and the system stability are analyzed using the amplitude-frequency curve and the root locus, respectively. Further, a control method is proposed to make control parameters self-adaptive through the feedback information of the residual fault voltage. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified by the simulation model of MATLAB/Simulink and the low-voltage experiment of the prototype, which can realize arc suppression with high, low or dynamic resistance ground fault.

Variable Tap-Length LMS Algorithm Based on adaptive parameters for TDL Structure Adaption

A variable tap-length LMS algorithm based on adaptive parameters for tapped-delay-line (TDL) structure adaption is proposed in this paper. The objective of this work is to overcome some drawbacks of previous variable tap-length adaptive filter algorithms, including slow convergence speed and high sensitivity to noise. Novel tap-length iteration equation based on adaptive parameters and arctangent-limited value is proposed. The values of adaptive parameters can automatically change according to the filter state, which not only improves the convergence speed but also reduces the steady-state error. The arctangent-limited value can effectively reduce the instantaneous estimated error, which enhances the robustness to noise. Computer simulations are conducted to verify the performance of proposed algorithm.

Improved Nelder-Mead algorithm in high dimensions with adaptive parameters based on Chebyshev spacing points

In spite of being one of the most popular optimization methods, Nelder-Mead's simplex search algorithm with the default choice of parameters performs poorly on high-dimensional problems. The work presented here concerns such values of the Nelder-Mead algorithm's parameters that help improve the convergence and success rate of the algorithm in high dimensions. In this work, a novel way of assigning parameters to the Nelder-Mead simplex search algorithm is proposed. The proposed scheme is based on Chebyshev spacing points and adapts itself to the dimension of the problem. The numerical experiments conducted for this study show that the proposed scheme is better not just in comparison with the original Nelder-Mead algorithm but it outperforms the other existing adaptive schemes as well.

This article aims to propose and experimentally validate a static-dynamic electrical model of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer. The originality of this work concerns the cell voltage modeling according to static and dynamic operations. Indeed, the cells of the PEM electrolyzer may be subjected to degradations due to the operating conditions and current ripple generated by power electronics. Hence, cell voltage response and efficiency may be affected. For this reason, it is crucial to model each cell voltage to investigate the degradation and wear effects mainly caused by the dynamic operating conditions met when coupling with renewable energy sources and current ripple from power electronics. To develop an accurate model, static and dynamic operations are investigated on a commercial-400 W PEM electrolyzer stack. To enhance the accuracy of the model in replicating the real behavior of the electrolyzer, the parameters of the model are adapted according to the input current. The comparison between the experimental data and the developed model has enabled confirming the effectiveness of the model to reproduce the cell voltage static and dynamic behavior according to the input current. PCNN model is particularly suitable for image segmentation and edge extraction, but its effect depends on the selection of parameters in PCNN model and network iteration settings, which needs for a large number of artificial interaction and has limited PCNN image processing practicality. In this paper, through combining statistical properties of images and PCNN model, we present an adaptive algorithm based on the distribution of pixels to replace the artificial interaction. Experimental results show that image segmentation using image enhancement and PCNN with adaptive parameters is significantly better than the traditional PCNN image segmentation and verify the effectiveness of the method.

Task scheduling is critical for obtaining a high performance schedule in heterogeneous computing systems (HCS) and searching an optimal scheduling solution has been shown to be NP-complete. In this paper, a hybrid heuristic genetic algorithm with adaptive parameter (HGAAP) is proposed by combining a heuristic scheduling algorithm and a genetic algorithm. An existing common heuristic scheduling algorithm is utilized for generating the initial generation to speed up the convergence rate of HGAAP. The parameters of crossover probability and mutation probability are adaptive according to the current evolution status to promote the evolution and find better solution. Moreover, the redundant individuals in each generation are removed to keep the diversity of population during the iteration. The experimental results on randomly generated task sets validated that our algorithm can obtain better scheduling results than existing algorithms.

In this paper, fuzzy-based vehicle tracking system is proposed. The proposed system consists of two main processes: vehicle detection and vehicle tracking. In the first process, the Gradient-based adaptive Threshold Estimation (GATE) algorithm is adopted to provide the suitable threshold value for the sobel edge detection. The estimated threshold can be adapted to the changes of diverse illumination conditions throughout the day. This leads to greater vehicle detection performance compared to a fixed user's defined threshold. In the second process, this paper proposes the novel vehicle tracking algorithms namely Fuzzy-based Vehicle Analysis (FBA) in order to reduce the false estimation of the vehicle tracking caused by uneven edges of the large vehicles and vehicle changing lanes. The proposed FBA algorithm employs the average edge density and the Horizontal Moving Edge Detection (HMED) algorithm to alleviate those problems by adopting fuzzy rule-based algorithms to rectify the vehicle tracking. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system provides the high accuracy of vehicle detection about 98.22%. In addition, it also offers the low false detection rates about 3.92%.

In this paper, we firstly analyze Lingras' algorithm with respect to its objective-function, numerical stability of the clusters. Then we point out its shortcoming in adjusting the three coefficients w(l) , w(u) and epsilon. To tackle this problem, a rough k-means clustering method is finally presented with adaptive parameters. This algorithm is used in a testing sample and obtains a less error clustering rate.

Super-resolution (SR) algorithms for video sequences with high resolution (HR) guide frames can provide outstanding performances. Non-local means (NLM) algorithm compares the similarity between a pixel and its neighbors. NLM replaces every pixel with a weighted average of its neighbors. The NLM based SR algorithm can super-resolve low resolution (LR) frames using the HR guide frames in the video sequence. However, the fixed decaying factor of NLM cannot satisfy regions of distinct characteristics in a LR frame. The fixed searching window fails to balance the requirements of low computational complexity and good SR images. Thus, we propose novel criteria for selecting the decaying factor and searching window adaptively. Bilateral adjacent HR frames are used to handle the occlusion problem. The experimental results verify the validity of the proposed method.
