Multitask diffusion strategies are useful to estimate node-specific, or, multiple parameter vectors over a distributed network by exploiting inter-cluster and intra-cluster cooperation. During cooperation, all nodes transmit their intermediate estimates to their neighboring nodes, resulting in high energy consumption. In this paper, we propose a clustered multitask diffusion affine projection algorithm by transmitting only a subset of the entries of the intermediate estimate vectors among the neighboring nodes. The proposed algorithm, namely, clustered multitask partial diffusion affine projection algorithm provides a trade-off between the estimation performance and the required communication cost. Important results on convergence (in mean and mean square) of the proposed strategy are presented. Numerical simulations reveal that even though the estimation performance deteriorates somewhat as the number of coefficients transmitted to the neighboring nodes decreases, the degradation can be compensated to a large extent by a proportional increase in the magnitude of the regularization strength among the clusters.

We present a simplified alternating direction method of multipliers with linear programming (ADMM-LP) decoder for LDPC codes by developing a method of approximate projection onto the parity polytope. The algorithm projects onto the affine hull of the. closest local codewords for each check of degree d, where. can be much smaller than d. We name this SAPA, the "sparse affine projection algorithm". In contrast to exact projection, SAPA does not require a water-filling step and thus can be implemented with lower per-iteration complexity. We present numerical results which demonstrate not only that SAPA's performance, when used as part of an overall decoder, is close to that of exact projection, but also that the use of SAPA does not incur many additional iterations. This is in contrast to other approximate algorithms. Thus, SAPA is appropriate for use in limited-iteration decoders in high-throughput applications. Moreover, we analyze sparsity of polytope projections in the exact ADMM-LP decoding to explain the suitability of the proposed sparse approximation.

This paper present an affine projection algorithm (APA) using grouping selection of input vectors. To improve the performance of conventional APA, the proposed algorithm adjusts the number of the input vectors using two procedures: grouping procedure and selection procedure. In grouping procedure, the some input vectors that have overlapping information for update is grouped using normalized inner product. Then, few input vectors that have enough information for for coefficient update is selected using steady-state mean square error (MSE) in selection procedure. Finally, the filter coefficients update using selected input vectors. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has small steady-state estimation errors comparing with the existing algorithms.

It is well known that the affine projection algorithm (APA) offers a good tradeoff between convergence rate/tracking and computational complexity. Recently, the evolutionary APA (E-APA) with a variable projection order has been proposed. In this paper, we propose a variable step size (VSS) version of the E-APA, called VSS-E-APA. It is shown that the VSS-E-APA is robust to near-end signal variations. Also, it has both a fast convergence speed and a small steady-state error and a much reduced numerical complexity than the VSS-APA.

In this paper, we propose an adaptive digital pre-distortion (DPD) linearization based on an affine projection (AP) algorithm for WCDMA power amplifier applications. The performance of the affine projection algorithm is compared with the least-mean-square (LMS) algorithm and recursive-least-square (RLS) algorithm, respectively. From the compared results, the AP algorithm has the advantage of more efficient computational complexity than the other algorithms and also the convergence speed of the AP algorithm is faster than that of the LMS algorithm. An affine projection algorithm based DPD has been simulated and compared with a DPD using LMS and RLS algorithms, respectively. From the simulation results, the AP based DPD has achieved -62.5 dBc adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR) at the average output power of 44.7 dBm of power amplifier for WCDMA I-FA test signal.

The least squares based affine projection algorithm (APA) is sensitive to outliers/impulsive noise in the desired data. A novel robust APA over distributed networks scenario is proposed in this manuscript, which is based on the rank based robust estimator named Wilcoxon norm. The proposed diffusion Wilcoxon affine projection algorithm (DWx-APA) based on pseudo least squares formulation is robust against outliers in the desired data and converges faster than the diffusion minimum Wilcoxon norm algorithm (DWx). The QR based diffusion minimum Wilcoxon norm (QR-DWx) algorithm is also robust against outliers in the desired data and converges faster than the DWx and the proposed DWx-APA, but the computational complexity is very high in comparison to its counterparts. The proposed DWx-APA is a compromise between DWx and QR-DWx in terms of computational complexity and convergence speed. The mean stability, tracking capability and computational complexity of the proposed algorithm are investigated. The simulation based experiments and analysis validate that the proposed algorithm performs better than the state-of-the-art algorithms in the presence of color data. (C) 2020 Elsevier Inc. We propose a gradient-limited affine projection algorithm (GL-APA), which can achieve fast and double-talk-robust convergence in acoustic echo cancellation. GL-APA is derived from the M-estimationbased nonlinear cost function extended for evaluating multiple error signals dealt with in the affine projection algorithm (APA). By considering the non-linearity of the gradient, we carefully formulate an update equation consistent with multiple input-output relationships, which the conventional APA inherently satisfies to achieve fast convergence. We also newly introduce a scaling rule for the nonlinearity, so we can easily implement GL-APA by using a predetermined primary function as a basis of scaling with any projection order. This guarantees a linkage between GL-APA and the gradientlimited normalized least-mean-squares algorithm (OL-NLMS), which is a conventional algorithm that corresponds to the GL-APA of the first order. The performance of GL-APA is demonstrated with simulation results.

Robust Diffusion affine projection algorithm With Variable Step-Size Over Distributed Networks

The estimation performance of the standard diffusion affine projection algorithm may be degraded when the distributed network nodes are disturbed by impulsive noise. To overcome the limitation, a diffusion affine projection M-estimate (DAPM) algorithm is proposed for distributed estimation in the adaptive diffusion networks. This algorithm uses a robust cost function based on M-estimate function to eliminate the adverse effects of impulsive noise on distributed diffusion network nodes. In order to further enhance the performance of the DAPM algorithm, namely fast convergence rate and low steady-state error, a variable step-size diffusion affine projection M-estimate (VSS-DAPM) algorithm is presented. In addition, the convergence range of the step-size is deduced to ensure the convergence of the proposed algorithms. Computer simulations show that the proposed DAPM and VSS-DAPM algorithms have good convergence performance for distributed estimation in the adaptive diffusion networks. More importantly, the proposed VSS-DAPM algorithm improves convergence rate and the network mean square deviation (MSD) as compared to the DAPM algorithm in the distributed estimation.

Steady-State Performance of an Adaptive Combined MISO Filter Using the Multichannel affine projection algorithm

The combination of adaptive filters is an effective approach to improve filtering performance. In this paper, we investigate the performance of an adaptive combined scheme between two adaptive multiple-input single-output (MISO) filters, which can be easily extended to the case of multiple outputs. In order to generalize the analysis, we consider the multichannel affine projection algorithm (APA) to update the coefficients of the MISO filters, which increases the possibility of exploiting the capabilities of the filtering scheme. Using energy conservation relations, we derive a theoretical behavior of the proposed adaptive combination scheme at steady state. Such analysis entails some further theoretical insights with respect to the single channel combination scheme. Simulation results prove both the validity of the theoretical steady-state analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed combined scheme.

A Polynomial Zero Attracting affine projection algorithm for Sparse System Identification

A polynomial zero attracting affine projection algorithm is prosed in this work for sparse system identification. The existing zero attracting algorithms based on affine projection algorithm for sparse system identification, consider an objective function which is a combination of an l 2 -norm and an approximation of l 0 -norm. The difference between these algorithms is the approximation of the l 0 -norm. In order to further improve the zero attraction capability of sparse adaptive algorithms based on affine projection algorithm, a polynomial is used to approximate the l 0 -norm. Simulation results verify that the proposed algorithm is effective for sparse system identification.
