cloud computing is widely used in businesses as it increases efficiency, helps improve cash flow and offers many services. cloud services allow individuals and businesses to use software and hardware that are managed by third parties at remote locations. Intelligent agent is a smart software program that is capable of taking flexible actions in some dynamic environments. A Multi agent system has more than one agent interacting with each other to cooperate, coordinate and negotiate, for solving a particular problem. Utilizing Multi agent technologies allow clouds to be more flexible and more autonomous. This paper discuss the cloud computing environment and multi agent concept. It attempts to classify research papers in this area showing how agents help cloud through cloud services life cycle. A brief analysis of some research papers in different categories paving the way for open research points in this area.

Nowadays, a number of computing paradigms have been proposed, of which the latest one is known as cloud computing. cloud computing is revolutionizing the services provided through the Internet, and is continually adapting itself in order to maintain the quality of its services. In this paper is proposes a cloud platform for storing information and files by following the cloud paradigm. Moreover, a cloud-based application has been developed to validate the services provided by the platform.

Service composition in multi-cloud environments must coordinate self-interested participants, automate service selection, (re)configure distributed services, and deal with incomplete information about cloud providers and their services. This work proposes an agent-based approach to compose services in multi-cloud environments for different types of cloud services: one-time virtualized services, e.g., processing a rendering job, persistent virtualized services, e.g., infrastructure-as-a-service scenarios, vertical services, e.g., integrating homogenous services, and horizontal services, e.g., integrating heterogeneous services. agents are endowed with a semi-recursive contract net protocol and service capability tables (information catalogs about cloud participants) to compose services based on consumer requirements. Empirical results obtained from an agent-based testbed show that agents in this work can: successfully compose services to satisfy service requirements, autonomously select services based on dynamic fees, effectively cope with constantly changing consumers' service needs that trigger updates, and compose services in multiple clouds even with incomplete information about cloud participants.

An Energy-Aware agent-based Resource Allocation Using Targeted Load Balancer for Improving Quality of Service in cloud Environment

In order to manage the load on dispersed data centers and cut down on energy established on time usage, agent-based resource allocation is given attention. Using a targeted load balancer (TLB), we suggest an energy-aware agent-based resource allocation in this research to enhance quality of service in a cloud setting. This agent is first set up to keep track of the resource load resulting from the request that has been assigned a job. cloud watch also keeps an eye on energy levels to determine the typical payload size of resource execution. The TLB establishes new instance state to assign the resource based on the payload weight. To shorten the execution time, the dynamic hyper switching model develops a balancing mechanism. The suggested system achieves high performance in resource management by creating load balancer that is efficiently targeted to cut down on computation time and cost depending on energy levels. In comparison to existing techniques, the suggested parallelized homogeneous job in the cloud environment produces greater performance up to 95.5% while maintaining the time execution utilizing switching state of execution. This maintains the reduced CPU consumption, which dependent on the lowering of temporal complexity.

Whereas an Intercloud is an interconnected global "cloud of clouds" that enables each cloud to tap into resources of other clouds, interactions among Intercloud stakeholders are complex because Intercloud resources are distributed and controlled by different clouds. "agent-based cloud computing" involves the construction of agents for bolstering discovery, matching, selection, composition, negotiation, scheduling, workflow, and monitoring of Intercloud resources. An agent is a computer system that is capable of making decisions independently and interacting with other agents through cooperation, coordination, and negotiation. Using an agent-based approach, characteristics associated with intelligent behaviors of agents such as interacting socially through cooperation, coordination, and negotiation can be built into clouds. This survey 1) discusses the significance and advantages of using an agent paradigm for Intercloud resource allocation, 2) reviews representative models of agent-based Intercloud resource allocation and provides a comparison among these models, 3) compares agent-based and non-agent-based approaches for task executions in multiple clouds, and 4) provides pointers to future directions.

Since participants in a cloud may be independent bodies, some mechanisms are necessary for resolving the different preferences to establish a service-level agreement (SLA) for cloud service reservations. Whereas there are some mechanisms for supporting SLA negotiation, there is little or no negotiation support involving price, time slot, and QoS issues concurrently for a cloud service reservation. For the concurrent price, timeslot, and QoS negotiation, a tradeoff algorithm to generate and evaluate a proposal which consists of price, timeslot, and QoS proposals is necessary. The contribution of this work is designing a multi-issue negotiation mechanism to facilitate 1) concurrent price, time slot, and QoS negotiations including the design of QoS utility functions and 2) adaptive and similarity-based trade-off proposals for price, time slots, and level of QoS issues. The tradeoff algorithm referred to as "adaptive burst mode" is especially designed to increase negotiation speed, total utility, and to reduce computational load for evaluating proposals by adaptively generating concurrent set of proposals. The empirical results obtained from simulations carried out using an agent-based testbed suggest that using the negotiation mechanism, (i) a consumer and a provider agent have a mutually satisfying agreement on price, time slot, and QoS issues in terms of the aggregated utility and (ii) the fastest negotiation speed with (iii) comparatively lower number of evaluated proposals in a negotiation.

Towards agent-based petri net decision making modelling for cloud service composition: A literature survey

Context In recent years, various complex and similar-function cloud services with different quality of service features are offered in services pool. Such diversity of services complicates the efficient selection of atomic services and the automatic provision of composited ones. Objective: We aim to shed light on the significance of agent-based decision-making methods for boosting cloud services' composition and modelling such complex systems using petri net (PN) techniques. Method: In this paper, we report a survey of relevant and related literature focusing on agent-based petri net decision-making modelling for cloud service composition (CSC). We analyse the surveyed works and explain their strengths and weaknesses. Results: We found how these technologies and techniques can be well-suited for CSC requirements in overcoming the most important documented challenges. Aside from agent technologies for boosting CSC, multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are suitable for ensuring service selection for composition operatively because they match end-user requirements with the trade-off criteria that cloud services are characterised with and are well-suited for the agent-based architecture. Furthermore, PNs are appropriate for supporting the modelling of such systems as groups of independent and loosely coupled modules. Conclusion: We suggest using a couple of agent-based problem-solving techniques to efficiently composite singular services automatically. This utilisation must be supported with an integrated and hybrid MCDM methodology to facilitate the ranking and selection of compromise solutions. The proposed solutions will be impressive if the whole process is systematically and mathematically formulated by PNs. This survey can be used by researchers aiming to join this line of research for further achievement.

A family of heuristics for agent-based elastic cloud bag-of-tasks concurrent scheduling

The scheduling and execution of bag-of-tasks applications (BoTs) in clouds is performed on sets of virtualized cloud resources that start being exhausted right after their allocation disregarding whether tasks are being executed. In addition, BoTs may be executed in potentially heterogeneous sets of cloud resources, which may be either previously allocated for a different and fixed number of hours or dynamically reallocated as needed. In this paper, a family of 14 scheduling heuristics for concurrently executing BoTs in cloud environments is proposed. The cloud scheduling heuristics are adapted to the resource allocation settings (e.g., 1-hour time slots) of clouds by focusing on maximizing cloud resource utilization based on the remaining allocation times of cloud resources. cloud scheduling heuristics supported by information about ROT tasks (e.g., task size) and/or cloud resource performances are proposed. Additionally, scheduling heuristics that require no information of either cloud resources or tasks are also proposed. The cloud scheduling heuristics support the dynamic inclusion of new cloud resources while scheduling and executing a given BoT without rescheduling. Furthermore, an elastic cloud resource allocation mechanism that autonomously and dynamically reallocates cloud resources on demand to BoT executions is proposed. Moreover, an agent-based cloud BoT scheduling approach that supports concurrent and parallel scheduling and execution of BoTs, and concurrent and parallel dynamic selection and composition of cloud resources (by making use of the well-known contract net protocol) from multiple and distributed cloud providers is designed and implemented. Empirical results show that BoTs can be (i) efficiently executed by attaining similar (in some cases shorter) makespans to commonly used benchmark heuristics (e.g., Max-min), (ii) effectively executed by achieving a 100% success execution rate even with high BoT execution request rates and executing BoTs i

cloud computing offers an economical and feasible solution for scientific workflow applications requiring large amounts of computational resources and expensive hardware. Supporting cloud workflow execution involves: (i) allocating and composing a collection of cloud resources, and (ii) coordinating distributed and self-interested participants. The contributions of this research are: (i) proposing an agent-based approach for supporting workflow execution in one or multiple clouds. (ii) defining Petri-net based methodologies to design workflows and cloud resources that sustain concurrent and parallel management of workflows, (iii) implementing an agent-based testbed to simulate distributed workflow execution, and (iv) providing empirical evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of agent-based cloud workflow execution. The agents are endowed with distributed algorithms, e.g., contract net protocol, to allocate and compose cloud resources based on workflow requirements. Simulation results demonstrated that: (i) agents effectively executed (with a 100% success rate) workflows autonomously, even when dealing with concurrent workflow executions, (ii) task parallelization was efficiently achieved in randomly created workflows with different levels of parallelism and ordering constraints, (iii) workflow execution was efficiently achieved since the makespan and number of messages exchanged increased linearly with the number of tasks.

cloud computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. However, the search engines specialized for users who want to find a cloud service do not exist at present. This paper introduces cloudle-an ontology-enhanced cloud service search engine that consults a cloud ontology for reasoning about the relations among cloud services. A cloud ontology contains a set of cloud concepts, individuals of those concepts, and the relationship among those individuals. For calculating the similarity between two individuals with the cloud ontology, we devised and implemented three kinds of reasoning methods, (1) concept similarity reasoning, (2) object property similarity reasoning, and (3) datatype property similarity reasoning. Finally, the empirical results show that the result using cloudle with the cloud ontology has better performance in finding the appropriate cloud service than the result using cloudle without the cloud ontology and the result without cloudle.
