In the modern mixed-signal SoC design cycle, designers are frequently tasked with detecting and diagnosing behavioral discrepancies between design descriptions given at different levels of hierarchy, e.g. behavioral vs. transistor level descriptions or behavioral/transistor level descriptions vs. fabricated silicon. One problem is detection, to determine if behavioral differences between design descriptions exist. If such differences (anomalies) are detected, then diagnosis is concerned with identifying the module in a hierarchical design description of the system that is most likely the root cause of the anomaly (typically under the constraint that only the primary outputs of the top-level hierarchies are observed. Previously proposed machine-learning classifiers require prior knowledge about the kinds of likely design errors typically encountered. In this work, we present a novel technique for the algorithmic foundation of circuit diagnosis predictions which does not require any assumptions about the nature of design errors. Our method employs iterative and alternate on-the-fly test generation and least-squares fitting of embedded low-order nonlinear filters to produce a best-guess estimate of the root cause of the anomaly. Experiments are conducted on two test vehicles, an RF transceiver and a phase-locked loop, several bug models are implemented, and the system's diagnosis predictions are analyzed.

Recently, Scientists needs to know the behavior of human sperm for proper diagnosis in Gymnocology problem. In this paper, we introduced an algorithm for tracking and detecting multi-moving human sperm using wavelet threshold in a improved version. Initially the captured images are filtered by a wavelet denoising approach. Then a combination method of mixture of Gaussian method as background subtraction with synchronized frame difference is developed with high detection rate. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is capable of tracking the sperm, which helps in analysis for proper diagnosis in infertility.

Probabilistic and fuzzy reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) all need a large amount of experimental data as the basis. The non-probabilistic RBDO, which need less date information, is a good supplement for the above two methods. In view of the phenomenon that the conventional optimization method may lead to the “interval expansion”, and then make the non-probabilistic reliability inaccurate, in this study a new method was proposed to solve this problem. In this method, a one-dimensional optimization algorithm is introduced into the non-probabilistic RBDO for the first time, and then based on the imperialistic competitive algorithm (ICA) and the interval model a non-probabilistic RBDO model and its sub-model are established. This model adopts a double nested optimization structure, in which the non-probability reliability index is calculated by the iterative method in the inner layer, and in the outer layer the global optimal scheme meeting the reliability requirements is searched using the ICA. In the end, examples demonstrated that the proposed method is fast, accurate and effective.

K-Means algorithm is one of the most popular methods for flat clustering, but it's time-consuming in similarity calculation for big data, which causes lower performance in practice. Previous studies proposed improvements for finding better initial centroids to facilitate effective assignment of the data points to suitable clusters with reduced time complexity. However, in vector space representation, as the data volume increases, the dimension of vector space becomes higher which takes more time in similarity calculation. In this paper, we propose a SimHash-based K-Means clustering algorithm that used locality-sensitive hashing and dimensionality reduction to improve the efficiency in big data analytics. The experimental results showed that our proposed method greatly reduces the processing time of K-Means clustering without significantly affecting the effectiveness. Further investigation is needed to verify the performance for data in larger scale.

In view of the unpredictable activities of primary users (PUs), connectivity guarantee is of vital importance for the cognitive radio network (CRN). Existing works ensure the connectivity of the CRN with only one channel reclaimed by PU, without considering a general case that PUs occupy multiple channels simultaneously, thereby resulting in a network partition. In this paper, we aim at guaranteeing the k-channel-connectivity of the CRN, which refers to maintain the CRN's connectivity even when any k - 1 channels are requested by PUs at the same time. Particularly, we achieve the target by ensuring that any k - 1 independent sets (i.e., groups of SUs that transmit on the same channel) are not any vertex-cut set of the CRN. With that guidance, we firstly propose a topology control algorithm to minimize the number of channels required by the CRN, and to ensures that the topology remains k-channel-connected and conflict-free as well. Secondly, the correctness of the proposed algorithm is verified via theoretical analysis. Finally, extensive simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that our algorithm can not only enables the reductions of the required channels, but also the power consumption of the CRN.

In 2011 we published a practical algorithm for short division (division of a multiple precision dividend by a single precision divisor) on a parallel processor (HiPC 2011) with a run time of O(n/p+log p). Our algorithm, based on parallel computation of remainder sequences, is an improvement of Takahashi's earlier work (LSSC 2007) which has a run time of O((n/p) log p). Here we prove that Omega(n/p+log p) is a tight lower bound for short division (using a conventional fixed radix number system) on EREW and CREW PRAMs when the divisor d is not simply a power of two. The proof is based on an application of Cook, Dwork, and Reischuk's work on Boolean function complexity. The result itself is especially significant because it establishes a novel tight lower bound for two fundamental arithmetic operations, short division and division by a fixed constant, on an important class of parallel machines.

Due to their inherent feature of exhibiting frequent disconnections, propagation of faulty data in Delay Tolerant Networks can be a critical aspect to counteract. Indeed the rare meeting events require that nodes are effective and efficient in propagating the correct information. Accordingly mechanisms to rapidly identify possible faulty or misbehaving nodes should be searched. Distributed fault detection has been addressed in the literature in the context of sensor and vehicular networks, but unfortunately these solutions suffer for long delays in identifying and isolating misbehaving nodes. In this paper instead we propose a fully distributed, easily implementable, and fast convergent approach to allow each DTN node to rapidly identify whether its sensors are producing outliers. The behavior of the proposed algorithm is described by some continuous-time state equation, whose equilibrium is characterized. Detection and false alarm rates are estimated by comparing both theoretical and simulation results. Numerical results assess the effectiveness of the proposed solution and can give guidelines in the design of the algorithm.

We consider recovering a signal x ∈ ℝ n from the magnitudes of Gaussian measurements by minimizing a second order yet non-smooth loss function. By exploiting existing concentration results of the loss function, we show that the non-convex loss function satisfies several quadratic geometrical properties. Based on these geometrical properties, we characterize the linear convergence of the sequence of function graph generated by the gradient flow on minimizing the loss function. Furthermore, we propose an accelerated version of the gradient flow, and establish an in-exact linear convergence of the generated sequence of function graph by exploiting the quadratic geometries of the loss function. Then, we verify the numerical advantages of the proposed algorithms over other state-of-art algorithms.

Image edge detection process is one of the important task of digital image processing. The main aim of this paper is, a brief study on canny operator, prewitt operator, Robert operator and sobel operator. This operators processes the images with luminous density in suitable and fast solutions. It is also applied in online detection. The image quality assessment research is used to measurement models to measure the quality of images. Due to low image quality and possible factors, the boundary regions of the images may be unclear. The edge detection process makes uncertain edge detection points and resulting improper determination values in the images. In this paper, we have studied different edge detection algorithms to find better method in digital image edge detection process. To analyze the performance of edge detection process canny edge detection, prewitt operator, Robert operator and sobel operator are taken.

Wireless sensor nodes which harvest energy from the environment have become an alternative to battery powered nodes. Requirements for efficient use of the extracted energy led to development of algorithms that manage the node functions depending on the amount of collected energy. This article introduces a novel solution of adaptively setting the duty-cycle of a wireless sensor node in order to maximize its monitoring lifetime. The developed algorithms are particularly suited to energy harvesting wireless sensor networks situated in locations where energy is scarce or where harvested power exhibits ample diurnal or seasonal variation. The results described in this article shows that the proposed wireless sensor network architecture can represent a viable solution for monitoring indoor environments characterized by low illumination. The setup was tested and validated under various lighting conditions, using the adaptive techniques described in the paper.
