Integration of offloading technologies into mobile network operator's infrastructures that provide heterogeneous access services is a challenging task for mobile operators. A connectivity management platform is a key element for heterogeneous mobile network operators in order to enable optimal offloading. In this study, development and integration of a connectivity management platform that uses a novel multiple attribute decision making algorithms for efficient Wi-Fi Offloading in heterogeneous wireless networks is presented. The proposed platform collects several terminal and network level attributes via infrastructure and client Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and decides the best network access technology to connect for requested users. Through experimentation, we provide details on the platform integration with service provider's network and sensitivity analysis of the multiple attribute decision making algorithm.

This paper presents a simple and efficient design technique for a two-channel multiplier less filterbank using common sub-expression elimination (CSE) algorithm for a given stop-band attenuation (A s ) and channel overlapping. Novelty of this paper lies in the unique utilization of cuckoo search algorithm for exploiting both quantized coefficients and canonical sign digit (CSD) converted coefficients such that the magnitude response of prototype filter is optimized to 0.7071 at frequency ω= π/2. In the proposed method, hardware reduction in term of adders is achieved using CSE. A comparative analysis of various CSE algorithms with the proposed method has also been made for designing two-channel filter bank. Performance of the proposed algorithm is illustrated in terms of number of adders (NA) and adder gain (AG).

A targets detection algorithm is proposed for maritime surveillance by single-channel SAR images. It foresees a preliminary prescreening step, carried out using an adaptive threshold algorithm, followed by a discrimination phase, performed by sub-look analysis. The latter discriminates the pixels detected by the former step in three classes, i.e. targets, sea, and azimuth ambiguity. The algorithm is tested on single channel StripMap TerraSAR-X data. Results indicate that the selected algorithm shows promising detection performance and ambiguity rejection capabilities.

Wireless electroencephalogram (EEG) sensors have been successfully applied in many medical and computer brain interface classifications. A common characteristic of wireless EEG sensors is that they are low powered devices, and hence an efficient usage of sensor energy resources is critical for any practical application. One way of minimizing energy consumption by the EEG sensors is by reducing the number of EEG channels participating in the classification process. For the purpose of classifying EEG signals, we propose a directed acyclic graph (DAG)-based channel selection algorithm. To achieve this objective, the EEG sensor channels are first realized in a complete undirected graph, where each channel is represented by a node. An edge between any two nodes indicates the collaboration between these nodes in identifying the system state; and the significance of this collaboration is quantified by a weight assigned to the edge. The complete graph is then reduced into a directed acyclic graph that encodes the knowledge of the non-increasing order of the channel ranking for each cognitive task. The channel selection algorithm utilizes this directed graph to find a maximum path such that the total weight of this path satisfies a predefined threshold. It has been demonstrated experimentally that channel utilization has been reduced by 50% in the worst case scenario for a three-state system and an EEG sensor with 14 channels; and the best classification accuracy obtained is 81%.

Among the various applications of high performance computing, security of cloud computing is very essential and greater awareness in India. Security issues in cloud are very challenging, as the data are roaming without any control. The need to keep the security as well as privacy of the information in the cloud becomes a critical issue. On the basis of cloud architectures we can specify the security rules for the web application attacks. In this paper we go through study, design and purpose of ontology containing encryption algorithms. Here ontology describes the security rule specification. Encryption algorithm describes comparision of performance among different algorithms. The main focus of this kind of work is to present a study of cloud security policy using some encryption algorithm based on ontology. This study will follow the ontology framework build for security policy rules. This paper also discusses cloud based web services attacks, design of semantic rules, and detection of malicious traffic over internet as well as tools for handling ontology.

Finite impulse response (FIR) digital filter is a commonly adopted signal processing unit in digital signal processing, due to its stability and easy implementation for linear phase response. To reduce the area complexity and power consumption of the filters, researchers have proposed algorithms to optimize the expression of coefficients with the reduced number of non-zero digits or power-of-two terms. This paper presents a new optimization algorithm based on elegant dynamic programming approach to minimize the number of non-zero digits in coefficient set, which yields to low logic operator cost in the filter circuit implementation. The proposed algorithm utilized the knapsack method from dynamic programming to effectively remove the redundant nonzero digits in the coefficients. Experiment results on benchmark filters show that the proposed algorithm can synthesize FIR filter coefficient with the reduced area complexity. Compared with two competing methods, the proposed algorithm can design FIR filters with an average of 14.49% to 47.73% reduced full adder cost over the competing methods.

algorithm for autonomous navigation of robots are the most diverse, given the wide range of use of robots and their applications. Robot's environment is crucial for navigation and its orientation, and therefore all approaches to this problem begin from this start point. One of the most important aspects is to avoid obstacles found on the path the robot. This paper presents an obstacle avoidance algorithm with increased performance, starting from Newton method for calculating the direction, adding an additional priority function. The results showed increased efficiency of this type of algorithm.

Pneumonia remains the worldwide leading cause of children mortality under the age of five, with every year 1.4 million deaths. Unfortunately, in low resource settings, very limited diagnostic support aids are provided to point-of-care practitioners. Current UNICEF/WHO case management algorithm relies on the use of a chronometer to manually count breath rates on pediatric patients: there is thus a major need for more sophisticated tools to diagnose pneumonia that increase sensitivity and specificity of breath-rate-based algorithms. These tools should be low cost, and adapted to practitioners with limited training. In this work, a novel concept of unsupervised tool for the diagnosis of childhood pneumonia is presented. The concept relies on the automated analysis of respiratory sounds as recorded by a point-of-care electronic stethoscope. By identifying the presence of auscultation sounds at different chest locations, this diagnostic tool is intended to estimate a pneumonia likelihood score. After presenting the overall architecture of an algorithm to estimate pneumonia scores, the importance of a robust unsupervised method to identify inspiratory and expiratory phases of a respiratory cycle is highlighted. Based on data from an on-going study involving pediatric pneumonia patients, a first algorithm to segment respiratory sounds is suggested. The unsupervised algorithm relies on a Mel-frequency filter bank, a two-step Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) description of data, and a final Hidden Markov Model (HMM) interpretation of inspiratory-expiratory sequences. Finally, illustrative results on first recruited patients are provided. The presented algorithm opens the doors to a new family of unsupervised respiratory sound analyzers that could improve future versions of case management algorithms for the diagnosis of pneumonia in low-resources settings.

Land masking is one of the most important stages for ship detection in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. However, a fast and efficient algorithm for land masking in SAR images is far from resolved. Current land masking algorithms are time-consuming or not accurate enough for ship detection in SAR images. In this paper, an algorithm for land masking is proposed. It is designed for ship detection in SAR images based on a series of image processing steps. Experimental results based on real SAR data demonstrate that the algorithm proposed in this paper is fast and accurate enough for ship detection in SAR images.
