To address the problems of low cache hit ratio and high routing hops to obtain content in Named Data Networking (NDN), this paper proposes a Cache placement Policy based on Dynamic Popularity (DPCP). When the requested content arrives at the routing node, the latest popularity is calculated by combining the number of requests in current cycle and the popularity of the previous cycle, and the caching threshold is dynamically adjusted according to the occupancy of caching space, only content with popularity exceeding the current threshold is cached, thereby retaining the content with the highest probability of being requested in future time periods. This cache placement policy is also implemented using Programming Protocol-independent Packet Processors (P4) deployed on programmable data plane. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the cache hit ratio and reduce the average routing hops compared with the traditional caching policy. © 2022 SPIE.

During the past decade substantial advances in processing speed, memory size and software have occurred in computer technology. Similar advances have resulted in highly sophisticated communication systems. These developments have enabled digital electronic methods to become a practical photographic image processing technique. For example, a recently developed change detection system (Ref. 1) is capable of processing 400,000 image points per second. This and other digital image processing systems generally result from special purpose applications of algorithms developed on large scale, general purpose digital computers.

We present a generic approach that identifies and differentiates among signals for wide range of problems. Originally our algorithm was developed to detect the presence of a specific vehicle belonging to a certain class via the analysis of the acoustic signals emitted while it is moving. A crucial factor in having a successful detection (no false alarm) is to construct signatures built from characteristic features that enable to discriminate between the class of interest and the residual information such as background. We construct the signatures of certain classes by the distribution of the energies among blocks which consist of wavelet packet coefficients. We developed an efficient procedure for adaptive selection of the characteristic blocks. We modified the CART algorithm in order to utilize it to be a decision unit in our scheme. However, this technology, which has many algorithmic variations, can be used to solve a wide range of classification and detection problems which are based on acoustic processing and, more generally, for classification and detection of signals which have near-periodic structure. We present results of successful application of the properly modified algorithm to detection of early symptoms of arterial hypertension in children via real-time analysis of pulse signals.

Future systems must intelligently preprocess an increasingly large volume of sensor data in real time within the constraints of an airborne environment. A compact, flightworthy, real time sensor processor has been developed which can host both conventional and neural processing algorithms. This will support a wide range of applications including high performance target classification from high resolution infrared imagery. The architecture features software reconfigurability to support different processing tasks and modular upgrade potential. Accurate classification of ship imagery has been demonstrated, using real airborne trials data produced under a range of operating conditions. The system is currently continuing to undergo airborne trials.

Signal reconstruction from its power spectrum is an important technique widely useful in different application fields. However, uniqueness is generally hard to be guaranteed by usual approaches due to nonlinearity of the power spectrum measurement models. In this paper a very general structure of the 1-dimensonal signal with given power spectrum is established and some conditions are introduced to guarantee the uniqueness of solution in signal reconstruction on basis of this formulism. Such conditions are about one or more additional information of the signal component and two algorithms are established for signal construction. One of the algorithms is exact and another one is iterative and approximate, both can reach the real signal under the introduced conditions. © 2024 SPIE.

The proposed "double carbon"target by the Chinese government underscores the importance of reducing carbon emissions in the power industry. The power industry, whose carbon emission accounts for about 43.1% of the overall energy-related carbon emissions, is one of the Chinese largest carbon-emitting industries. Calculating the carbon emissions flow in power systems helps to better reduce the use of conventional fossil fuel and complete the "double carbon"target. This paper first analyzes the full life-cycle carbon cost from the device perspective, thus setting a boundary for carbon accounting. Then the calculation method of power-carbon emissions flow is developed. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated based on the Lishui City power system. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. A highly efficient, noise immune data redundancy reduction algorithm* for the transmission of facsimile data over digital communication channels is described. A summary of prior work in spatial distance data compression technology (including source encoding, channel encoding, and synchronization coding) is pre-sented to allow comparison of the performance of the DATALOG-developed algorithm used in the Tactical Digital Facsimile program with various other data compression techniques submitted for consideration to the Internation Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT) as the world standard for digital Group 3 facsimile equipments.

In this study, a fault diagnosis method combining the Pelican algorithm and BP neural network is proposed for improving the fault diagnosis accuracy and efficiency of microgrid systems. Pelican algorithm is a new optimisation algorithm developed in recent years, which can effectively optimise the weights and deviations of BP neural networks. Based on this characteristic, the Pelican algorithm is used to process the data of the actual microgrid system, and compared and analysed with the traditional BP neural network and RNF neural network. The experimental results show that the BP neural network optimised by the Pelican algorithm exhibits higher accuracy and robustness in microgrid fault diagnosis, which provides an important support for the reliability of microgrid systems. © 2024 SPIE.
