With the rapidly development of localization technology, services based on location has been widely used in mobile users currently. This leads to the incessant appearing of various mobile equipment with localization technology, location-based and text-based searching technologies are furthermore proposed. To meet this explosive searching requirements, many effective spatial keyword searching algorithms have been developed based on the searching conditions. The road network is the abstraction of people's living space, which has more practical importance and value. In this paper, a road network-based collection and direction-oriented spatial keyword effective searching method is proposed, including main keyword-oriented searching and no main keyword-oriented searching. No center-oriented searching starts from the searching point and expands the search in the searchable range. During the center-oriented searching, spatial objects that can meet the main keyword are found in the searchable range firstly. Then the expanding search is conducted in the searchable network, which starts from the spatial object. Finally, the above two searching methods are conducted and the re-sults show the efficiency of the algorithm.

Biometrics are very essential tools for the purpose of identification of the person may contain the basic identification like iris and gesture recognition whereas signature verification is also widely used for the purpose of identification. In this paper, we propose a method of offline signature verification in which convolution is applied to address the maximum accuracy and we present how the problem was being handled in the past few decades. The experimented result reveals the efficiency of algorithm. In this paper we have worked on multiple layers so that good accuracy may obtain in terms of originality of the input images.

A new association rule mining algorithm is studied, which is based on gas monitoring database. In order to calculate itemsets support, this paper puts forward the concept of database characteristic matrix and characteristic vector, and leads to algorithm for mining association rules based on the characteristic matrix. This algorithm needs to traverse the database one time only, and the database operation has been reduced. Based on the characteristic vector inner product to get an Item set support, the efficiency of the algorithm has been improved. It improves the efficiency of association rules mining in mass gas databases.

A Modified Tabu Search algorithm to Solve Vehicle Routing Problem

A modified tabu search algorithm (TS) is designed to enhance the efficiency of TS, the relevant data structures are redesigned; in order to solve the precision of TS, the algorithm flow is adjusted under the premise of retaining the essence of TS, besides, and the modified algorithm uses three neighborhood functions to generate candidate solutions sorted to better the precision and efficiency of VRP. Comparing the efficiency with the classical TS, the computation time of the modified algorithm is obviously shortened. Mean-while, Solomon instance of different scales are tested, the result shows that the optimum solution obtained by the modified algorithm is better than the classical TS, the search time is also greatly shorten and the deviation rate is further reduced. Furthermore, comparing the experiment result with Artificial Bee Colony algorithm (ABC), the modified algorithm that can find the optimum solution is better than ABC, in addition, com-pared with the ACO algorithm, the result is not much better than the ACO algorithm, but the computing time is nearly half of the reduction, which explains TS to solve vehicle routing problem has a certain advantage and proves the effectiveness and efficiency of the modified algorithm.

In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed for the two-dimensional non-guillotine non-oriented cutting stock problem. The considered problem consists of cutting small rectangular pieces of predetermined sizes from large but finite rectangular plates. The objective is to generate cutting patterns that minimize the unused area and fulfill customer orders. The proposed algorithm is a combination of a new particle swarm optimization approach with a heuristic criterion inspired from the literature. The algorithm is tested on twenty-two instances divided into two sets. Corresponding results show the algorithm efficiency in optimizing the trim loss that is comprised between 2.6% and 7.8% for all considered instances.

Examining applying high performance genetic data feature selection and classification algorithms for colon cancer diagnosis

Background and Objectives: This paper examines the accuracy and efficiency (time complexity) of high performance genetic data feature selection and classification algorithms for colon cancer diagnosis. The need for this research derives from the urgent and increasing need for accurate and efficient algorithms. Colon cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, hence it is vitally important for the cancer tissues to be expertly identified and classified in a rapid and timely manner, to assure both a fast detection of the disease and to expedite the drug discovery process. Methods: In this research, a three-phase approach was proposed and implemented: Phases One and Two examined the feature selection algorithms and classification algorithms employed separately, and Phase Three examined the performance of the combination of these. Results: It was found from Phase One that the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm performed best with the colon dataset as a feature selection (29 genes selected) and from Phase Two that the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm outperformed other classifications, with an accuracy of almost 86%. It was also found from Phase Three that the combined use of PSO and SVM surpassed other algorithms in accuracy and performance, and was faster in terms of time analysis (94%). Conclusions: It is concluded that applying feature selection algorithms prior to classification algorithms results in better accuracy than when the latter are applied alone. In 3D integrated circuit (3D-IC), there are two or more layers of active electronic components which are integrated both vertically and horizontally. Through-silicon-via (TSV) is used as the vertical electrical connection which enables a great deal of functionality packed into a small footprint. In this work we solve the signal TSV assignment problem in 3D-IC taking thermal problem into consideration, while only wire length is concerned in the previous work. Firstly, we propose a multilevel node-weight-oriented flow assignment algorithm to reduce wire length and temperature simultaneously. During the evaluation of wire length and temperature result, we use a thermal estimation model to evaluate temperature, where compression storage method with LU decomposition is adopted to improve algorithm efficiency. Moreover, we implement the remove and reassign optimization method which helps further optimize the TSV assignment results. The experimental results show that our algorithm provides better solution with wire length reduction and temperature decrease.

An efficient finite element solution using a large pre-solved regular element

In this paper a finite element algorithm is presented using a large pre-solved hyper element. Utilizing the largest rectangle/cuboid inside an arbitrary domain, a large hyper element is developed that is solved using graph product rules. This pre-solved hyper element is efficiently inserted into the finite element formulation of partial differential equations (PDE) and engineering problems to reduce the computational complexity and execution time of the solution. A general solution of the large pre-solved element for a uniform mesh of triangular and rectangular elements is formulated for second-order PDEs. The efficiency of the algorithm depends on the relative size of the large element and the domain;however, the method remains as efficient as a classic method for even relatively small sizes. The application of the method is demonstrated using different examples.

A 3D printed snakebot prototype is developed and experimentally validated in this paper. The structure is designed to allocate limited room for each functional module (including an external power module, battery power module, the wireless control & transmission module and some detective sensors) to ensure the snakebot work in different environments. For controlling and tracking the snakebot, a MEMS IMU (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems Inertial Measurement Units) based snakebot motion tracking system is developed. To minimize the noise influence to tracking accuracy, three algorithms (low-pass filter, baseline calibration, and Kalman filter) are used to eliminate noise from IMU's acceleration data. Through signal processing, the IMU acceleration data can be effectively used for motion tracking. To evaluate the motion tracking algorithm efficiency, the result from a real-time video tracking is employed as a reference for comparison. The comparison results demonstrate high efficiency of the proposed IMU based motion tracking algorithm.
