A 512 node IBM Scalable POWERParallel Systems SP2 was installed at the Cornell Theory Center in October 1994. During the past couple of months we have Seen porting and optimizing code for carrying out lattice QCD calculations. Present performance is far from ideal, however, and optimization efforts are still under way. The rate limiting step in our code involves a rather generic inversion of. a large, sparse system, based on a partial differential equation in a multidimensional space. The insights we have gained so far may be useful in diagnosing performance in a wide class of applications. Copyright 1995 by the Association for Computing Machinery, Inc. (ACM).

Efficient and precise motif extraction is a central problem in the study of proteins functions and structures. This paper presents an efficient new geometric approach to the problem, based on the General Hough Transform. The approach is both an extension and a variation of the Secondary Structure Co-Occurrences algorithm by Cantoni et al. [1-2]. The goal is to provide an effective and efficient implementation, suitable for HPC. The most significant contribution of this paper is the introduction of a heuristic greedy variant of the algorithm, which is able to reduce computational time by two orders of magnitude. A secondary effect of the new version is the capability to cope with uncertainty in the geometric description of the secondary structures.

Scene space organizational structure and visibility culling plays a crucial role in the quality and efficiency of subsequent rendering. To improve the real-time rendering of indoor and outdoor objects and enhance the organization efficiency of scenes, we propose an optimized scene management structure for fast visibility culling. We organize the scene into an adaptive binary tree (ABT) structure to make full use of the characteristics of high accuracy of ABT space subdivision and strong adaptability of scene graph. Based on its structure and the basic principle of view frustum culling (VW) algorithm, a double-layer visibility culling algorithm is proposed to further improve performance and to compensate for the existing low VFC efficiency. The results of experiments prove its high efficiency for handling complex scenes with large amount of triangles in high depth, accelerating real-time rendering speed of complex scene.

Based on a large number of literatures and reports, this paper takes communication systems in lifeline engineering as an example, collects as many disaster-related communication data as possible to form a training data set, and analyzes the relationship between disaster-related telecommunications data and earthquake intensity. Then, use visual means to preprocess the collected data set. This paper uses different classification algorithms in machine learning, such as Naive Bayes, K-nearest neighbors, logistic regression and support vector machines for classification training of the formed data set. Optimize it, and finally it proposes a reference model that can be used to predict earthquake intensity. Finally, experiments show that the model has good accuracy.

Currently, there is a high demand for neural network-based image compression codecs. These codecs employ non-linear transforms to create compact bit representations and facilitate faster coding speeds on devices compared to the hand-crafted transforms used in classical frameworks. The scientific and industrial communities are highly interested in these properties, leading to the standardization effort of JPEG-AI. The JPEG-AI verification model has been released and is currently under development for standardization. Utilizing neural networks, it can outperform the classic codec VVC intra by over 10% BD-rate operating at base operation point. Researchers attribute this success to the flexible bit distribution in the spatial domain, in contrast to VVC intra's anchor that is generated with a constant quality point. However, our study reveals that VVC intra displays a more adaptable bit distribution structure through the implementation of various block sizes. As a result of our observations, we have proposed a spatial bit allocation method to optimize the JPEG-AI verification model's bit distribution and enhance the visual quality. Furthermore, by applying the VVC bit distribution strategy, the objective performance of JPEG-AI verification mode can be further improved, resulting in a maximum gain of 0.45 dB in PSNR-Y.

This paper provides algorithms for the optimization of autonomous hybrid systems based on the geometrical properties of switching manifolds. The first and second sections of the paper introduce optimal hybrid control systems and the third section presents the Newton-Geodesic-Hybrid Minimum Principle (HMP) which is an extension of the Gradient Geodesic-HMP algorithm in [4]. In the fourth section, we extend the analysis yielding the Newton-Geodesic-HMP algorithm to relate the difference of the curvatures of the ambient and switching manifolds to second order variations of the hybrid value function. Finally an example is given to illustrate the results.

The de facto standard for embedded platforms with medium to low computing demands are ARM with Thumb ISA and Intel Atom with the X86 ISA with multiple cores. Operating these architectures in the milliwatts range while running realtime computer vision corner detection algorithms is a challenging problem. We present the analysis of power, performance and energy-efficiency measurements of Harris corner detection across a wide range of voltage and frequency settings, multicore/multithreading strategies, and compiler and application optimization parameters to find how the interplay of these parameters affect the power, performance and energy-efficiency. Our measurement of results on state-of-the-art embedded platforms demonstrate that a systematic cross-layer optimization at the application level (Sobel filter type, aperture size, number of image tiles), compiler level (branch prediction, function inlining) and system level (voltage and frequency setting, single core vs multicore implementation) significantly improves the energy-efficiency of corner detection, while meeting its real-time performance constraints. This cross-layer optimization improves the energy-efficiency of Harris corner on Atom and ARM by 89.5% and 87.2%, respectively.

Adaptation of "The Legend of Chunhyang" in Contemporary Korean Literature: the Analysis from the Perspective of Comparative Literary Variation based on the Optimized ItemCF and the Philosophical Dialectical Thought

In the case of Joseon, the social development in the last millennium, the increasing aesthetic awareness, the admiration for Chinese literature and culture, the strong spread of advanced Chinese thought and culture, and the active exchanges between Joseon students and Chinese literati have provided the main soil for the emergence of literary theories in Joseon, and there are sufficient data to prove that Chinese literary texts and literary ideas have had an influence in Joseon. So far, numerous materials indicate that the formal essence and dialectical philosophical thought of Chinese literature have significantly influenced Korean culture and the mindset of Koreans. Moreover, in the process of fusion and evolution with Korean literature and philosophical thought, Chinese literature and philosophical ideas are influenced by native Korean culture, leading to variations. It can be said that without Chinese classical literature and philosophy, there would be no Korean classical literature and philosophy. Based on the evolution of Korean literature and the optimized ItemCF algorithm, this paper analyzes in depth the influence of Chinese classical literature on the literary creation of the Korean peninsula and accurately grasps the relationship between the origin and flow of Chinese and Korean classical literature. The experimental results indicate that the optimized ItemCF algorithm can accurately identify Chinese literary stories present in Korean literature, along with the underlying philosophical and dialectical ideas from Chinese literature. Moreover, through similarity analysis, the algorithm computes the potential evaluative value of Chinese stories within Korean literature, aiding in evaluating and analyzing philosophical and dialectical thinking within these narratives. The experiments prove that the optimized algorithm can significantly improve the data cleaning efficiency compared with ItemCF, and its user similarity matrix generation speed and efficiency are

Industrial IoT (IIoT) in conjunction with UltraReliable Low-Latency Communications (URLLC) often struggles with data-rich, information-poor contexts. Blind Source Separation (BSS) is one of the key technologies which can obtain the desired high-value information from all of the observed raw sensory data. As shown by recent studies, BSS can be both fast enough for low-latency requirements and sufficiently accurate to be a reliable method in large IoT deployments. Nonetheless, the trade-off between signal context usage and data recovery accuracy often affects the separation quality of BSS. In this paper, we propose for the first time a novel dual path convolutional neural network model, called Y-Net, for high accuracy BSS. Specifically, the separation quality is improved by the parallel perception and joint combination of both high- and low-level features of input signals, which we demonstrated through extensive numerical evaluations. In particular, Y-Net improves the Source-to-Distortion Ratio by 2.70 % to 35.32 % for different target signals, while the model size is only slightly increased, compared to other current solutions.

With rapid development in imaging modalities and computer power, computational model of cardiac electrophysiology field has been integrated with more and more powerful and sophisticated numerical solvers, which aims to give people a more accurate understanding of the heart in pathological conditions. However, due to the limitation of the accuracy that the numerical methods could reach, the computational models may not yet be so accurate. In this paper, an implementation of Takeuchi-HL-1 unicellular model based on the first-order Euler method and the fourth-order Runge-Katta RK4 method is introduced. Besides accuracy, our work is also mainly focused on the optimization of data utilization based on the Runge-Kutta RK4 method. Through our work, it is shown that the higher order of accuracy method does give us a more accurate simulation result, while the time consumption is generally acceptable.
