In this paper, we present a comparative study of different stochastic components of genetic algorithms for simulation-based optimisation of the buffer allocation problem. We explore the effects of elements such as operators, fitness assignment strategies and elitism. Three different recombination operators, incorporated with constraint handling mechanisms such as repair and penalty functions, are examined. Under the shed of the experiments, we incorporate problem specific knowledge to further enhance the practicality of GA in decision making for buffer allocation problem.

Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) are becoming essential in tackling energy transition challenges, promoting local energy sharing from diverse renewable energy sources to optimize environmental, economic, and social benefits. This study presents an innovative simulation tool for designing hybrid RECs that integrate diversified renewable sources, addressing a critical gap in existing tools. The tool was used to design a REC in a woodland area in central Italy where the sustainable management of locally available resources suggests the energy generation through biomass and photovoltaic plants. In this context, the REC initiative is further suggested as a mechanism to counteract depopulation trends by activating new services aligned with sustainable development goals. simulations of various scenarios, involving REC members' compositions and renewable plant sizes, reveal that opting for 600 kW biomass plant yields significant environmental benefits, with up to 1660 t/ year of avoided CO2 emissions and over 80 % energy self-sufficiency for any configuration. However, incorporating more PVs in the energy mix could lead to shorter discounted payback period (down to 4.9 years). The engagement of industrial users is recognized as a critical factor for the success of the REC initiative, playing a vital role in community revitalization.

Study on dimension synthesis optimization of five-bar metamorphic mechanism

Planar five-bar mechanism has been widely studied as the executive mechanism of the walking part of the robot leg. In order to improve the precision of dimension synthesis optimization of five-bar metamorphic mechanism, a new dimension synthesis method of five-bar metamorphic mechanism is proposed. By constructing a metamorphic cell into the planar five-bar mechanism, the presented method makes the five-bar mechanism have two configurations of crank-slider mechanism and crank-rocker mechanism. Firstly, according to the round-trip characteristics of the slider in the crank-slider mechanism, the working interval of the two configurations is divided and the method of metamorphic configuration is determined. Subsequently, the optimization model of the five-bar metamorphic mechanism is constructed, the coordinate formula of the target trajectory point is derived, the optimization design variables, objective functions and constraints are determined, through this rigorous process determine the dimension comprehensive optimization parameters of the five-bar metamorphic mechanism. Then, different optimization algorithms are used to simulate different classical target trajectories and the optimization results of the three mechanisms are compared. Moreover, the continuity between configurations is verified and the feasibility of the method is proved. The results underscore the superiority of the proposed method over traditional single configuration designs, which enhances the versatility of the five-bar mechanism, avoids the error caused by the two-degree-of-freedom drive, improves the working condition fitness of the five-bar mechanism and provides a theoretical basis for the study of the comprehensive dimension optimization of the five-bar metamorphic mechanism.

Trajectory error compensation method for grinding robots based on kinematic calibration and joint variable prediction

Trajectory accuracy, a crucial metric in assessing the dynamic performance of grinding robots, is influenced by the uncertain movement of the tool center point, directly impacting the surface quality of processed workpieces. This article introduces an innovative method for compensating trajectory errors. Initially, a strategy for error compensation is derived using differential kinematics theory. Subsequently, a robot kinematic calibration method utilizing ring particle swarm optimization (RPSO) is proposed to address static errors in the grinding robot. Simultaneously, a method for predicting robot joint variables based on a dual-channel feedforward neural network (DCFNN) is designed to mitigate dynamic errors. Finally, a simulation platform is developed to validate the proposed method. simulation analysis using extensive data demonstrates an 89.3% improvement in absolute position accuracy and a 74.2% reduction in error fluctuation range, outperforming sparrow search algorithm (SSA), improved mayfly algorithm (IMA), multi-representation integrated predictive neural network (MRIPNN), etc. algorithmic comparison reveals that kinematic calibration significantly reduces the average trajectory error, while joint variable prediction notably minimizes error fluctuation. Validation through trajectory straightness testing and a 3D printing propeller grinding experiment achieves a trajectory straightness of 0.2425 mm. Implementing this method enables achieving 86.1% surface machining allowance within tolerance, making it an optimal solution for grinding robots.

Artificial Intelligence Recognition simulation of 3D Multimedia Visual Image Based on Sparse Representation algorithm

With the rapid development of computer networks and multimedia technologies, images, which are important carriers of information dissemination, have made human cognition of things easier. Image recognition is a basic research task in computer vision, multimedia search, image understanding and other fields. This paper proposes a hierarchical feature learning structure that is completely automatically based on the original pixels of the image, and uses the K-SVD (K-Singular Value Decomposition) algorithm with label consistency constraints to train the discriminant dictionary. For different types of image data sets, the algorithm only extracts image blocks. After dense sampling, an efficient OMP (Orthogonal Matching Pursuit) encoder is used to obtain a layered sparse representation. The improved SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm is used to solve the difficult problem of multimedia visual image stereo matching. The feature point extraction and stereo matching of multimedia visual images, different scales and different viewpoint images are analyzed separately. Aiming at a large number of low-dimensional geometric features of 3D images, this paper studies the extraction and sorting strategies of low-dimensional geometric features of 3D images. A sparse representation method for 3D images is proposed, and the sparseness of image features is evaluated. This further improves the accuracy of 3D image representation and the robustness of 3D image recognition algorithms.

From the sentiment analysis of social media to the monitoring of public opinion in the financial field, the application of natural language analysis continues to expand, and people's demand for natural language processing technology is also increasing. However, traditional natural language analysis algorithms face performance bottlenecks and energy consumption. Therefore, this paper proposes a structured natural language analysis algorithm based on cloud computing. Through simulation experiments, the performance and energy consumption of the algorithm are tested and evaluated. After a comprehensive experimental scheme design, the experimental group is compared with the control group by selecting the appropriate data set and establishing appropriate evaluation indicators, while configuring the experimental environment. The experimental results show that the lowest energy consumption of the algorithm in this paper is 2.41%, and the structured natural language analysis algorithm based on cloud computing has obvious advantages over traditional methods. The proportion of energy consumption in the experimental group is lower than that of the control group, indicating that the algorithm of the experimental group is better in terms of energy utilization efficiency. The performance degradation of the experimental group is lower when processing large-scale data, indicating that the experimental group algorithm has better extensibility and efficiency. These results provide strong support for the application of structured natural language analysis algorithms based on cloud computing, which helps to improve system efficiency and sustainability. © 2024 IEEE.

Efficient algorithms for the simulation of non-adiabatic electron transfer in complex molecular systems: application to DNA

In this work, a fragment-orbital density functional theory-based method is combined with two different non-adiabatic schemes for the propagation of the electronic degrees of freedom. This allows us to perform unbiased simulations of electron transfer processes in complex media, and the computational scheme is applied to the transfer of a hole in solvated DNA. It turns out that the mean-field approach, where the wave function of the hole is driven into a superposition of adiabatic states, leads to over-delocalization of the hole charge. This problem is avoided using a surface hopping scheme, resulting in a smaller rate of hole transfer. The method is highly efficient due to the on-the-fly computation of the coarse-grained DFT Hamiltonian for the nucleobases, which is coupled to the environment using a QM/MM approach. The computational efficiency and partial parallel character of the methodology make it possible to simulate electron transfer in systems of relevant biochemical size on a nanosecond time scale. Since standard non-polarizable force fields are applied in the molecular-mechanics part of the calculation, a simple scaling scheme was introduced into the electrostatic potential in order to simulate the effect of electronic polarization. It is shown that electronic polarization has an important effect on the features of charge transfer. The methodology is applied to two kinds of DNA sequences, illustrating the features of transfer along a flat energy landscape as well as over an energy barrier. The performance and relative merit of the mean-field scheme and the surface hopping for this application are discussed.

In the maintenance and reliability field, there are frequent analyses with data being censored. In reliability research, many articles do simulation, but few explain how they do it. the loss of information resulting from the unavailable exact failure times will impact negatively the efficiency of reliability analysis. This paper presents four different algorithms to generate random data with a different number of censored values. The four algorithms are compared, and tree parameters are used to select the best one. The Weibull distribution is used to generate the random numbers because it is one of the most used in reliability studies. The results of the algorithm chosen are very relevant;with a sample of n = 50 and a number of cycles of simulations m = 1000, the standard deviation is higher when the shape factor of Weibull distribution is beta = 0.5 and slowly decreases until the shape factor equals 5. The percentage error (PE), one of the indicators selected, is much higher when the percentage of censored data is c = 5%, then goes down when the shape factor increases. There is a different behaviour when censored data is C = 20% and the percentage error (PE) is higher when shape factor is beta = 1.5. This article presents an algorithm that it considers the best for simulating right-censored type-I data. The algorithm has excellent accuracy, random data i.i.d and excellent computational performance.

The growing worldwide interest in exploiting programmable digital signal processors (DSPs) in telecommunication applications and systems has established the need for a prototyping environment. This environment comprises various computer-aided software and hardware tools to meet the requirements of the development process, including specification, algorithm simulation, analysis, implementation and verification. This article discusses the issues concerning a prototyping process and the need for support tools for developing DSP applications. It is followed by an overview of existing tools and techniques. An integrated signal processing application development environment (SPADE) is then described.

The use of annihilation-in-flight of arbitrarily polarised positrons with arbitrarily polarised electrons as an analyser for the positron polarisation from muon decay is discussed. Analysing powers for the longitudinal and the two transverse positron polarisation components are derived and algorithms for the simulation of polarised muon decay and of annihilation-in-flight are given.
