Today, the development of modern digital technologies requires them to solve existing cyber security problems. Thus, in this study, by building an algorithmic model for user access control based on a functional table, information security of existing systems can be used to create imitation of processes occurring in the system, which allows you to apply and analyze specific problems. This study attempted to focus on algorithmic issues. In this algorithmic model based on Functioning table, the user's access control process is active at all transitions in the Petri net, and cases can be reached and detected with an initial marking, a sequence of transitions leading to a particular state. The algorithmic model based on the Functioning table of user access control has a strictly formal description that allows you to analyze the process of interaction of three subjects of information relations. This model allows switching the algorithmic model of user access control to the system to software implementation.

In the study of built heritage, the introduction of BIM models provides the advantage of a set of data that can be shared between different platforms. Despite the continuous progress in research, the modeling processes of complex construction elements, typical of historical architectures, always require a certain attention and care that involve considerable investments in terms of both resources and time. In this paper we present the first results of an ongoing research aimed at considering possible methods that can allow a simplification of the modeling processes of elements of historical architectures in the BIM environment. In particular, the research aims to explore the possibilities offered by the algorithmic modeling of complex construction elements. In the study of historical architecture, an enough recurring theme concerns those elements that can be traced back to the principles of architectural orders. In the survey of historical architecture, a quite recurring case study concerns those elements or parts of building ruled by the principles of architectural orders. One of the first elements taken into consideration was that of the column that, in its articulation in base, shaft and capital, offers three different levels of complexity of the modeling process very suitable for the research path. Starting with a collection of data acquired from digital photogrammetric modeling, we considered a initial set of different case studies that allowed us to conduct a first working hypothesis by embracing a quite wide range of possible variations starting from a basic column.

Spatial performance analysis in basketball with CART, random forest and extremely randomized trees

This paper proposes tools for spatial performance analysis in basketball. In detail, we aim at representing maps of the court visualizing areas with different levels of scoring probability of the analysed player or team. To do that, we propose the adoption of algorithmic modeling techniques. Firstly, following previous studies, we examine CART, highlighting strengths and weaknesses. With respect to what done in the past, here we propose the use of polar coordinates, which are more consistent with the basketball court geometry. In order to overcome CART's drawbacks while maintaining its points of force, we propose to resort to CART-based ensemble learning algorithms, namely to Random Forest and Extremely Randomized Trees, which are shown to be able to give excellent results in terms of interpretation and robustness. Finally, an index is defined in order to measure the map's graphical goodness, which can be used-jointly with measures of the out-of-sample error-to tune the algorithm's parameters. The functioning of the proposed approaches is shown by the analysis of real data of the NBA regular season 2020/2021.

Using Grayscale Photos to Introduce High School Statistics Teachers to Reasoning with Digital Image Data

Statistics teaching at the high school level needs modernizing to include digital sources of data that students interact with every day. algorithmic modeling approaches are recommended, as they can support the teaching of data science and computational thinking. Research is needed about the design of tasks that support high school statistics teachers to learn new statistical and computational approaches such as digital image analysis and classification models. Using our design framework, the construction of a task is described that introduces classification modeling using grayscale digital images. The task was implemented within a teaching experiment involving six high school statistics teachers. Our findings from this exploratory study indicated that the task design seemed to support statistical and computational thinking practices related to classification modeling and digital image data.

Detecting Differential Item Functioning in Multidimensional Graded Response Models With Recursive Partitioning

Differential item functioning (DIF) is a common challenge when examining latent traits in large scale surveys. In recent work, methods from the field of machine learning such as model-based recursive partitioning have been proposed to identify subgroups with DIF when little theoretical guidance and many potential subgroups are available. On this basis, we propose and compare recursive partitioning techniques for detecting DIF with a focus on measurement models with multiple latent variables and ordinal response data. We implement tree-based approaches for identifying subgroups that contribute to DIF in multidimensional latent variable modeling and propose a robust, yet scalable extension, inspired by random forests. The proposed techniques are applied and compared with simulations. We show that the proposed methods are able to efficiently detect DIF and allow to extract decision rules that lead to subgroups with well fitting models.

Connecting the Portuguese system of evolutive housing with building information modeling: From analogical to digital methods

In Portugal, in the 1960s and 1970s, there was research concerning a system of the architectural design of housing for economically less favored populations, which related sociological information with analogical computational methods and culminated with its application in the Local Ambulatory Support Service (SAAL). This article presents the digitization process of these methods for the development of an architectural design system for social housing. The main goal is to improve methodological procedures for the original research and, specifically, to adapt them to computational design and modeling processes. To this end, this research transposed the aforementioned methodology into an algorithmic model that matches sociological information acquired from an online form with a database of social housing floor plan images to generate a building information modeling (BIM) directly from the selected image source. The result is an algorithmic model informed by sociological data linked with a BIM model to enable further rationalization of architectural design.

The number of machine learning applications to explore the complex relationship between land use and travel behavior has proliferated during the past several years. This discussion paper underscores the advantages and limitations of using machine learning approaches to reveal the complexity, compared to conventional parametric statistical models. We highlight the new insight derived from recent machine learning applications and call for further research to scrutinize the complex relationship and, especially, uncover the threshold association between land use and travel behavior.

On the E-Valuation of Certain E-Business Strategies on Firm Performance by Adaptive algorithmic modeling： An Alternative Strategic Managerial Approach

This paper describes an innovative adaptive algorithmic modeling approach, for solving a wide class of e-business and strategic management problems under uncertainty conditions. The proposed methodology is based on basic ideas and concepts of four key-field interrelated sciences, i.e., computing science, applied mathematics, management sciences and economic sciences. Furthermore, the fundamental scientific concepts of adaptability and uncertainty are shown to play a critical role of major importance for a （near） optimum solution of a class of complex e-business/services and strategic management problems. Two characteristic case studies, namely measuring e-business performance under certain environmental pressures and organizational constraints and describing the relationships between technology, innovation and firm performance, are considered as effective applications of the proposed adaptive algorithmic modeling approach. A theoretical time-dependent model for the evaluation of firm e-business performances is also proposed.

In this paper we describe a multi-model approach used for modeling cities as a complex poorly formalized system, based on three modeling methods: linguistic-combinatorial, logical-linguistic and algorithmic ones, which provide a holistic view of the object from different perspectives to solve fundamentally different problems to support managerial decisions.
