The results of the development and introduction of a unique software-hardware suite based on the algorithmization of calculations on the parameters of the radiant-convective drying of paint coatings in compliance with specified characteristics are presented. The software suite provides the calculation of a radiant-convective or convective drying process, an operative analysis of initial data with the purpose of eliminating the design errors, the search for a rational design solution via the application of corrections to initial information and the fast recalculation of the process, and the formation of a design calculation protocol incorporating all the problem solution stages and results. The algorithmization stages and the equipment calculation formulas underlying the algorithm are described. The main functionalities of the software suite and the possibilities of its application for the calculation of drying with different characteristics for a certain paint system are demonstrated. The practical implementation and application of design calculation during the works performed at NPO Lakokraspokrytie are described.

Recent advances in computing and immersive technologies have provided Meta (formerly Facebook) with the opportunity to leapfrog or expedite its way of thinking and devising a global computing platform called the "Metaverse". This hypothetical 3D network of virtual spaces is increasingly shaping alternatives to the imaginaries of data-driven smart cities, as it represents ways of living in virtually inhabitable cities. At the heart of the Metaverse is a computational understanding of human users' cognition, emotion, motivation, and behavior that reduces the experience of everyday life to logic and calculative rules and procedures. This implies that human users become more knowable and manageable and their behavior more predictable and controllable, thereby serving as passive data points feeding the AI and analytics system that they have no interchange with or influence on. This paper examines the forms, practices, and ethics of the Metaverse as a virtual form of data-driven smart cities, paying particular attention to: privacy, surveillance capitalism, dataveillance, geosurveillance, human health and wellness, and collective and cognitive echo-chambers. Achieving this aim will provide the answer to the main research question driving this study: What ethical implications will the Metaverse have on the experience of everyday life in post-pandemic urban society? In terms of methodology, this paper deploys a thorough review of the current status of the Metaverse, urban informatics, urban science, and data-driven smart cities literature, as well as trends, research, and developments. We argue that the Metaverse will do more harm than good to human users due to the massive misuse of the hyper-connectivity, datafication, algorithmization, and platformization underlying the associated global architecture of computer mediation. It follows that the Metaverse needs to be re-cast in ways that re-orientate in how users are conceived;recognize their human characteristics;and take

Cities, such as industry or the universities, are immersed in a process of digital transformation generated by the possibility and technological convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Artificial Intelligence and its consequences: hyperconnectivity, datafication and algorithmization. A process of transformation towards what has come to be called as Smart Cities. The aim of this paper is to show the impacts and consequences of digital connectivity, algorithmization and the datafication of urban digital society to outline possible ways of resolving the underlying moral conflicts.

The functioning of different systems can be described using queueing models. Optimization is used to increase the efficiency of the system functioning. The research is devoted to CBSMAP-flow. Note that it is very reasonable to change the characteristics of arrival flows and others characteristics in various queueing models for optimization of its functioning. In the research a process of system functioning is investigated at an controlled arrival process (flow). algorithmization of the problem is necessary because choice of optimum strategy at a large number of the controlled objects is very labor-intensive process. The research is very interesting and actual. The researched model and algorithm describe a lot of mathematical problems such as control of telecommunication networks, transport management and other subjects ...

Virtual Influencers (VIs) have become the most prolific research subjects in human-computer interaction and mass media and communication studies from a plethora of perspectives. Developed to integrate social traits and anthropomorphic minds in their social media posts, human-like VIs engage with followers via visually authentic personae, emotionally captivating multimodal storytelling, and semio-pragmatic labor-intensive strategies in conformity with the expectations (and pressures) of the contemporary influencer culture. Informed by Belk's revisited model of and timely scholarly works on the extended self, we introduce a new conceptualization of the virtual self that performs identity in platformized spaces. To examine virtual personae's identity performance, we adopt a trans-disciplinary mixed-method forensic netnographic research design, synergizing computer vision, natural language processing, and semio-pragmatic analytical tools. A convenient sample of 334 (sponsored) posts, retrieved from the official Instagram account of the quintessential virtual agent Lil Miquela, is scrutinized taking into consideration her posts' images and accompanying captions. The paper carries out the tripartite analysis in serious attempt to unravel: (a) how humanoid her synthesized images appear to the naked eye in quest of authenticity building;(b) the techno-affects that contribute to her identity performance;and (c) the semio-pragmatic affordances appropriated and deployed in Instagrammable spaces, showcasing how the three serve the performance of her digital identity. Valuable insights reveal that her agency draws heavily on algorithmization and semiotic immateriality to produce action. The study's findings contribute to the existing body of literature on VIs and the extended self within the context of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly finding its way into medicine, and it is not yet clear how it will change the practice of medicine and the way doctors see themselves. This article explores the ethical limits of AI by (1) discussing the reductionistic elements inherent in AI, (2) working out the problematic implications of algorithmisation and (3) highlighting the lack of human control as an ethical problem of AI. The conclusion is that although AI is a useful tool to support medical judgement, it is absolutely dependent on human decision-making authority in order to actually prove beneficial for medicine.

The poster presents Bebras informatics tasks based on assembling a program from blocks. These tasks were created in templates based on Papert's microworlds and they familiarize pupils with classical problems used in CS education. In these microworlds, pupils create and run a program which controls a sprite in order to solve a problem emerging from a described situation. We created four such templates. Each template was supplied with its own set of tasks, differing in a topic, a subject matter and graphics. We created more than 100 tasks in total. As pupils go through each task, they repeatedly run the created program while the system provides them with feedback. Some of the tasks were included into the Czech Bebras Challenge, whereas from others we created sets of tasks (like Hour of code) usable in lessons. More than 430 000 pupils aged 10 to 19 from hundreds of Czech schools tried these tasks in 2021, 2022. Our experience shows that these tasks with their interactivity can attract pupils to the contest and thus can contribute to advance pupils' informatics skills.

Algorithms are rapidly transforming government bureaucracies. The implications of this transformation for the work of public service employees are not yet well understood. So far, the literature has mostly neglected the use of algorithms by these "screen-level bureaucrats", and this constitutes a major gap in our knowledge about how algorithms affect bureaucracies. To understand the work of screen-level bureaucrats and to explore how they actively engage with algorithmic software to support their assessment of online fraud, we analyzed 45 hours of observations and 12 in-depth interviews at the Netherlands Police. We employ a socio-material perspective to analyze the dynamics between screen-level bureaucrats and algorithms. We conclude that for administrative tasks, algorithms help screen-level bureaucrats to perform their work by providing structured data and allowing them to focus more on assessments which need a nuanced judgement. At the same time, algorithmic advice in a decision-making task is simply ignored by the screen-level bureaucrats as they predominantly rely on their professional judgement in the assessment of online fraud reports. This highlights the need to further investigate how an algorithm should not only provide accurate advice to the screen-level bureaucrats but also convince them to follow it.

In the Czech version of the Bebras Challenge, programming tasks in which a programming code is built from blocks are used alongside traditional contest tasks. This paper deals with the comparison of these programming tasks with other informatics tasks in terms of theworkload of their solvers. Programming tasks can strongly attract the contestants' attention. The aim of the paper is to find out to what extent pupils pay attention to programming tasks at the expense of other tasks and how this differs for successful and unsuccessful contestants. We prepared national round tests in which there were typically two programming tasks and ten other tasks in each age category. We conducted quantitative research with a total of 184,949 respondents from the 2023 contest. We discovered that pupils spend more time on programming tasks than on the other tasks. When designing tests that include programming tasks, it is necessary to take this into account, and thus either limit the number of tasks, increase the test time, or include less challenging tasks. Our research on programming tasks revealed that, for most age categories, successful pupils ran different versions of their solution fewer times than unsuccessful ones. We also discovered that successful solvers spent more time on the task than unsuccessful solvers. The youngest pupils were the outliers in these findings. Our paper contributes to the understanding of the extent to which it is a good idea to include programming tasks in informatics contests like the Bebras Challenge.
