The main application task, solving which the project aims to, is to help people with visual impairments and teach the correct pronunciation of words to people learning a Ukrainian language as a foreign language. This problem is solved by developing software that will recognise text in video mode. As a result, when you tap the screen, you will hear how the selected text sounds.

Smartphones have become an integral part of everyday human life. In addition to the usual activities such as phone calls and text messages, users are increasingly turning to e-banking, e-commerce or healthcare. The android operating system offers a number of mechanisms and good practices related to the creation of secure applications, but research shows that there are still many vulnerabilities. The paper contains an overview of the currently existing methods of securing data stored on the android platform, threats related to the discussed system and a proposition for their elimination in the form of the android Secure library, which facilitates the management of dangerous application rights, validation of data entered and provides an additional layer of security using one-time password or device location. The proposed solution eliminates only selected problems that the android system has, but of course the best form of security is a qualified team creating the application and users' awareness of existing threats.

On-device Resilient android Malware Detection using Incremental Learning

In most cases, the android runs in a battery-driven, low-power connected, embedded real-time environment. New malware attacks are reported every day targeting android embedded devices. This is because the existing android malware detection engines are not resilient to zero day attacks. The machine learning based malware detection engines must be re-trained with the newly reported malware and benign samples to manage the zero-day attacks. The re-training is very expensive in terms of CPU and memory. Re-training at embedded devices is very challenging because of its hardware, memory, and energy constraints. In these scenarios, a lightweight, resilient and incremental learning based dynamic android malware detection mechanism is becoming mandatory. Very little evidence is observed in the related literature; most of the existing incremental learning approaches have not demonstrated their experiments in a real device environment and have not worked in bench-marked real device dynamic analysis datasets. In this work, we select the latest KronoDroid android dynamic hybrid dataset and propose efficient incremental learning based android malware detection mechanism using the linear incremental algorithm. We have incrementally trained our mechanism in the real device android environment and proved the consistent performance keeping the resilient aspect. We have evaluated our mechanism and found that we could achieve the highest incremental accuracy of 97.94%, the lowest training time of 0.5 seconds, and lowest detection time of 0.04 seconds with the smallest model size of 456 bytes when experimented within an on-device android environment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that proves the incremental learning and resilience scenario using a bench-marked android real-device dynamic dataset keeping the lowest computational complexity and consistent performance.

Cloud connection oriented real-time monitoring system for atmospheric particles

To meet the requirements of data acquisition from mobile pollution sources and unfixed data acquisition points in atmospheric particle monitoring system, this study designs a real-time monitoring system for atmospheric particles such as PM2.5 based on a single-chip microcomputer, an ET-iLink open cloud platform and an android operating system. The movable data acquisition nodes for atmospheric particles are designed. The laser scattering method is used to obtain the data of atmospheric particle concentration, which are uploaded to the cloud platform through the GPRS network. The android application obtains the real time data of atmospheric particle concentration from the cloud platform. Thus the real-time remote monitoring for atmospheric particles is realised. The test results show that the system has the following advantages: stable performance, high scalability and low error rate.

Composite algorithm for pervasive healthcare system - a solution to find optimized route for closest available health care facilities

There are many solutions available for healthcare issues, like increasing the Qos, Handling multimedia data, providing Security, compressing multimedia files, finding a shortest path, etc. This paper addresses the problem pertaining to finding the optimized route for closest available healthcare facilities. Location Based Services (LBS) in healthcare has been widely used to deliver detailed information like availability of health care facility, finding location, navigation and etc. However, in some places, the use of LBS in healthcare is limited because of lack of resources or information for getting timely information to users or patients who need health care services. The problem that can be detected is that the vital information needed by the patients or users such as the availability of health care facilities like pharmacy, hospital, clinic, blood bank, etc. has to be seamlessly reached. This work focus to solve the problem by creating a application for patients to get the information about nearest health care facilities by using any android based mobile phone. The proposed system uses composite algorithm. Composite algorithm comprises of three algorithms namely, Information Retrieval R-Tree (IR2) algorithm for filtering process, K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) query Technique for path and distance verification and Ahuja- Dijkstras algorithm to find optimized path. The information have taken from the Google web server (real time data) by using Google API, We have collected more than 1000 data pertaining to healthcare facilities like longitude latitude, speciality, contact details and etc. This system was developed by android OS. The algorithm running at this system was very efficient of about 20% from the existing system. This work tries to focus on algorithm for lower time-complexity (O(logn)) and for more speed up processing.

On machine learning effectiveness for malware detection in android OS using static analysis data

Although various security mechanisms have been introduced in android operating system in order to enhance its robustness, sheer protection remains an open issue: malicious applications (named as malware) usually find ways to bypass the security processes, whereas users are not aware a priori whether an application can operate as malware. To eliminate this problem, several approaches leverage machine learning for detecting malware using static analysis data. In this direction, we study the effectiveness of supervised machine learning algorithms using static analysis data extracted from the Drebin data set and we provide a short survey of other related works in the domain. We evaluate six well-known classification techniques under different configurations in terms of i) capacity of detecting android malware and ii) feature selection. Our experimental results demonstrate that classification can reach a high level of accuracy by using only a small subset of features.

Energy Efficient Data Encryption Techniques in Smartphones

Mobile devices have been increased exceptionally in recent years, consequently data generation has also been raised exceptionally. Most of the data generated by mobile devices is transferred to servers for processing and storage. Managing security of mobile data is a necessary feature of every network and mostly encryption is used to avoid security breaches. The major challenge is that, mobile devices are very small with shortage of resources, on the other hand encryption of data requires extra energy. It is necessary to minimize energy requirements for encryption of data. For this experimental research, an android based application is developed, which optimize energy requirements for both single and double encryption techniques. AES and Blowfish encryption algorithms are used with different files sizes to test the energy requirements for single encryption, it is also examined that energy consumed by Blowfish is 119.311% more than AES. For double encryption methods, AES-Blowfish, Blowfish-AES and XTS-AES combinations of algorithms are used and energy usage is gathered. In double encryption XTS-AES consumed 13.26% less power consumption as compared to AES-Blowfish and 44.97% less then Blowfish-AES combination methods. Results of experiments revealed that AES is more energy efficient for single encryption and for double encryption XTS-AES combination requires less energy.

For an education purpose between an education robot and user, the robot needs to identify the location of the user and follow the user when the user stays or moves. In this work, a distance measurement scheme between a robot and user using ultrasound sensors and RF modules is introduced. Also, algorithms following the moving user with certain distance are addressed and those applications to the developed robot were implemented, showing the results including distance measurement and user-following. The robot control system is totally based on android system, which makes the robot operation convenient and compact.

Due to the pervasive nature of smart phones and devices, users are becoming more and more dependent on such devices for accessing online information. Pervasive use of smart devices has significantly enlarged the attack surface and resulted in a proportional complication of cyber threat intelligence gathering. For such devices, web browsers have become a primary means for accessing information provided on Internet as well as file systems and therefore, web browser forensics is an important component of cyber threat intelligence. The basics of web browser forensics revolve around the artifacts such as web sites visited, malicious URLs, time stamps, counts of access, search histories, cookies, downloaded activities etc. However, leveraging and locating this information can be challenging without the needed prerequisite information. This paper presents how to perform forensics analysis of data structures used by popular web browsers such as Chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, and Dolphin on android and how a forensic investigator can acquire forensic artifacts from web browsers. To strengthen digital investigation, a toolkit named as AndroKit is proposed for android web browsers forensics. The paper demonstrates that the AndroKit can successfully acquire and analyze forensic evidence such as Web History, Downloads, Cookies, Bookmarks, Chrome stored user credentials, decode base64 encoded images, Tabs information etc. Finally, a comparative analysis of AndroKit with standard forensic tool-kits such as Oxygen forensics, Andriller, MOBILedit and Belkasoft evidence center has been presented.
