Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Framework for Smartphones: Deployment and Evaluation on android

Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications especially in the domain of file sharing have become very popular during the past few years. These applications have huge traffic volume on the Internet as compared to any other application. In this paper, we propose a mobile P2P file-sharing framework that uses dedicated Session Traversal Utilities for NAT (STUN) servers for Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal. In our case, we divide the nodes into two types: Node Peers (mobile applications) and Super Peers (dedicated servers connected to a fixed P2P network). We develop the proposed framework for android operating system and test it on a 3rd Generation (3G) network testbed. The experimental results obtained are quite positive and support the implementation of the system.

China's stance on the Google/Motorola merger: Implications for competition in intellectual property-intensive sectors

China's merger enforcement agency approved the Google/Motorola merger with conditions. This pattern of approval is not in full accordance with that in other jurisdictions, including the United States and the European Union, which made unconditional approvals. This contradiction attracted ample criticism;some critics believe that China's policy is designed to protect domestic industry. In investigating the Chinese merger agency's decision and the basis for its decision making, this article finds that much of the criticism is groundless and misleading because the critics have failed to incorporate all elements of the global value chain of mobile intelligent terminals into their analyses. The investigation also shows that, although the decision makers are less experienced, their decisions are based on Chinese competition law and market realities. It is important for international firms to be aware of this pattern in merger analysis. (C) 2016 Qiang Yu.

In this research, an inter-vehicle distance measurement application that runs on android operating system was developed. The proposed method was based on a similarity relationship between the license plate and the image on the image sensor. Morphological transformation was implemented to improve the detection rate of the license plate and distance measurement accuracy. Although the maximum error rate of the measured distance was 12 % at a distance from 2 m to 15 m, it is possible to reduce the value of the error rate by increasing the resolution of the captured image. The processing time for one cycle was 185 ms, and the processing time for each processing of this application was also measured. As a result, 46.5 % of the whole process was occupied by morphological transformation. However, by applying morphological transformation to only a part of the image, it is possible to reduce processing time of this processing.

the problem of information overload is becoming more and more important in today's world. There are three kinds of methods to deal with the problem, that is, website navigation, search engine and APP. Web site navigation through the collection of well-known websites and classified ways to solve the problem of information overload. The search engine solves the problem of information overload by setting up index for massive web pages. However, when the user can not clearly express their needs, the first two on a slightly weak, and the animation class APP can solve this problem. APP animation books by analyzing the user's historical behavior records, the initiative for the user to recommend their potential content of interest. The reference of the previous animation books APP design, with personalized cartoon books APP book search engine as the goal, the research and implementation of a latent semantic analysis and fragment clustering hybrid APP scheme based on cartoon books. And the use of Hadoop large data processing framework and AR technology to solve the problem of animation books APP massive data processing. In view of the problem of the user's behavior and the variety of user's interest in the search engine, this paper proposes the latent semantic analysis model and the fragment clustering model to explore the long-term interest and immediate interest of the user behavior data.

In this technology world, smartphones are greatly adopted by people due to the need of personal communication, Internet and many more requirements. Users are attracted to use the android operating system due its availability for low-cost and millions of freely available applications. The popularity of android operating system is also welcomes the attackers. Statistics have shown that, the growth of android malware is becomes double by every year. Hence android platform is more vulnerable to malwares. Researchers are proposed various models. Some of these models are completely fail to detect unseen variants of malware, while remaining models are inefficient to detect new malware families. In this paper, we briefly explain about android architecture, structure of android application and also characterized android malware based on their installation, activation and payloads types. We proposed a hybrid model to detect the malware based on permission bit-vector and network traffic. We constructed a decision tree classifier to detect the android malware. Our results show that combination of permission bit-vector and network traffic analysis is highly efficient by achieved 95.56% of detection accuracy.

The word 'Campus' is often defined as grounds and surroundings involving buildings of a university. Nevertheless, the term Smart Campus (SmC) has been introduced a few years ago describing a new paradigm of campus intelligence not only related to a set of facilities, infrastructures, services and people, but also regarding concepts in computing and technology such as social networking, internet of things (IoT), mobile applications and geospatial information which means that its behaviour and administrative procedure can become complex. Nowadays, universities are seeking for ways to evolve intelligently offering targeted services to improve the students' life; converting standalone service systems into fully integrated articulated systems, bringing significant benefits and decreasing risk and costs. The main idea of this research focuses on the analysis and comprehension of the current most relevant community requirements, specifically at the University of Jaume I in Castellon de la Plana in Spain. Also, how geographic information services, pedestrian navigation systems and mobile technologies can improve the interactions between the students and the campus. Additionally, this study can serve as the basis for future platform-tools or applications in such a scalable and modular way, that it could perfectly be integrated to other university campus or even future smart cities.

In this article, the authors discuss a new attack called a direct resource hijacking attack (or resource hijacking attack), which directly hijacks exported components or permissions on components owned by benign applications. To tackle this vulnerability, they propose a fine-grained resource access control framework in android and introduce a certificate-augmented resource naming mechanism. With this method, malicious apps can't hijack a victim app's permissions to steal its private data in the victim app, or hijack a victim app's components to retrieve data that's delivered to the victim app.

User behavior modeling of voice communications: an empirical study

In this study, analysis and modeling of arrival and service processes are presented in a comprehensive fashion in order to determine statistical properties of voice traffic from end-user perspective in accordance with the queueing theory. For the first time in the literature, we introduce a user centric approach and examine these services considering both flow directions of voice traffic, the uplink and the downlink as opposed to existing studies with the network centric approach. In our study, we use experimental data composed of actual phone calls collected from 2G/3G networks. To achieve this, we designed and implemented a data collection system for mobile users and compared the results by using data from an operational cellular network. In order to determine the time correlation of voice calls, Hurst parameter estimation methods are used. On the basis of the outcomes, independency of call arrivals is shown. Additionally, it is shown that calls acquired from user and network centric approaches are both Poisson distributed. Next, looking at the problem from service process perspective, thorough analyses are performed to determine mathematical models that can best characterize call holding times. Maximum likelihood estimation and expectation maximization algorithm are used, and it is shown that the optimum mathematical model for the characterization of call holding times is the lognormal distribution family. The objective of the project presented in this paper is to stimulate and evaluate the executive function in Parkinson's patients. This project is being developed in partnership with the Coimbra Hospital and Universitary Centre and the private social solidarity institution CASPAE. It aims to answer specific needs identified in the neurology service during the medical appointments. A common test to assess executive function is the Trail Making Test (TMT). This test is done on paper during the medical appointments for the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with the executive function diminished, such as Parkinson's disease patients. The way the TMT is done poses some problems that led to the development of an application for smartphones and tablets, with android OS. This application has two operating modes: "Appointment", and "Train". The "Appointment Mode" makes the realization, reading, and the organization of the tests results easier. The "Train Mode" allows that patients improve their executive function performing tests that are randomly generated on your own smartphone.
